Another episode of our weekly Harry Potter podcast has just been released! Join Jamie, Laura, Kevin, Micah and myself for some great discussion on time travel: - What kind of control does the Ministry have over it? - Can anyone with the right tools change time? - Is the Time-turner the only device that can affect time? - Will time play a role in Book 7? - Why is it so important that you are not seen when traveling back in time? All that and more can be found by downloading the show on the MuggleCast portion of this site. For an easy listening experience, we recommend subscribing for free through iTunes. Each week the show will automatically download to your computer almost as soon as its released. On top of this, our much-anticipated (and belated) Episode 57 finally made its debut on Friday night. In this show, available through the regular sources, our main discussion is Aunt Petunia. We hope you enjoy this double shot of MuggleCast this weekend!

Did you hear the news? It's true. For the first time ever, Eric Scull hosts an episode of MuggleCast. We didn't think this would happen until an impossible act of mother nature occurred, so something must've went awry down under. Eric joins Laura and Micah for lots of great discussion, including: - We discuss Jo's U.S. book tour. - Laura has a big PO Box update. - Rebuttals: Opals and the Chronology of Book Covers. - Does the deluxe edition cover have to be over New Zealand? - Can Harry transfer his protection from Privet Drive to Hogwarts? - What are the powers of Hufflepuff's Cup? - Road to Deathly Hallows continued: Who will live and who will die? All that and much more can be found on this week's episode! To download, we recommend subscribing through iTunes (just press "Subscribe" after clicking the link). You can also visit the MuggleCast website for complete shownotes, alternate download links, and much more. Special thanks goes to our new show editor Nick... he did a great job. Enjoy!

Let's face it. After producing close to 100 episodes of our weekly Harry Potter podcast, we're bound to run into a couple problems. This show gets off to a bad start in a fun way, but the rest of the episode makes up for it. Here's the proof: - Greg Porter from XalerStudios.com joins the show. - A Summer of MuggleCastin'. - We give a listen to some samples of the OOTP soundtrack. - What was Bellatrix talking about to Voldemort in the Ministry? - Could the symbol represent items of the Founders? - Road to Deathly Hallows: Where are the Horcruxes? - Diagon Alley, Hogsmeade, Hogwarts, Azkaban, St. Mungo's? - Road to Deathly Hallows: Who Will be With Who? - Connections. - Chicken Soup. All that and much more can be found on this week's episode! To download, we recommend subscribing through iTunes (just press "Subscribe" after clicking the link). You can also visit the MuggleCast website for complete shownotes, alternate download links, and much more. Thanks again go to our new show editor Nick. Also: Look for some news on an upcoming MuggleCast summer tour very soon. More details in the next few days...

This week's episode of our Harry Potter podcast is, in our opinion, our best live show ever. It's also one of our longest ever, clocking in at 105 minutes! In this show: - MuggleCast is live from Enlightening 2007 in Philly! - Ben's attempt to meet Emma at the OOTP after party. - An interview with the Moaning Myrtles. - Order of the Phoenix discussion. - Make the Connection: LIVE! - Spy on Spartz: LIVE! - Several audience members ask us questions about the books and ourselves. All that and much much more can be found by downloading the latest episode! To get it, we recommend subscribing (for free) in iTunes). That way, each episode will automatically be sent to your computer. You can also find alternate download links and full shownotes on the MuggleCast website. Note that the file size of this show is significantly larger as it is in stereo (meaning it sounds great). Enjoy!

Our very own Jerry Cooke was on hand for both the live MuggleCast podcast at Waterstones and JK Rowling's midnight release party. From his report, we've learned exactly what went on in Jo's media-less event:
As I continued round, surrounded by velvet drape and atmospheric lighting, I came across the next section of registration, where I received my goody-bag, which contained lots of little things like a commemorative poster, some balloons, a smoothy and some stickers. Most importantly though, the bag contained the second immaculate first edition copy of Deathly Hallows of the night, but this time with a holographic authenticity sticker on the same page as would later me signed.
You can see a photo of Jerry's signed Deathly Hallows book right here!

In this week's episode of our Harry Potter podcast, we make Harry a pig and Dumbledore's motives slaughter. Was the famed headmaster setting the boy wizard up for an inevitable death? Or was The Great Bearded One absolutely sure that The Chosen One would survive He-Who-Should-Not-Be-Named's plans? Okay, enough nicknames and we'll get straight to the point. On this week's show: - Where is Jo going with Wizard of the Month? - Ttitan Tiffin as young Tom Riddle? - The news that launched a thousand shrieks. - Was Pettigrew braver at age eleven? - We discuss the morality of Dumbledore. - Did he help Harry by distancing him? - Was what Dumbledore did morally permissible? - Would Harry have chosen his path if not for Dumbledore? Join Laura, Eric, Jerry and I for all that, some classic MuggleCast segments, and much more! To download, we recommend subscribing for free within iTunes. Using Apple's free music software will allow you to automatically get each show as soon as it is released. You can also find full show notes and alternate download links over at the MuggleCast website. Enjoy!

Ben returns to our Harry Potter podcast this week and there's so much discussion, it requires a lot more than just one pint of butterbeer. Laura, Micah, Eric and I join Ben in going over everything JK Rowling revealed at her book reading last week at Carnegie Hall, including: - Dumbledore is gay - initial thoughts from the hosts! - Eric gives us a full report on MuggleCast LIVE in Australia! - We go over each of the questions answered at the October 19th reading in NYC. - Andrew, Laura, and Micah talk about meeting Jo. (Yes, life is now complete.) - Should Jo have revealed Dumbledore's sexuality? - Why does it matter, and why is it front-page news? - The hosts become quite opinionated when it comes to fans who act as though Dumbledore being gay tarnishes his character. All that and much more comes in this very entertaining and important episode of MuggleCast. We want to warn listeners that this episode does contain mature discussion and nothing within the show should be taken personally if it were to offend you (which we're pretty sure it won't). With that said, we recommend subscribing for free in iTunes if you're a new listener (current listeners: update your feed). Full shownotes and alternate download links can be found over at the MuggleCast website. Enjoy!

Let's face it: Maybe if Bellatrix had a little more love in her life, she wouldn't have been so cruel in chapter one of Deathly Hallows. On this week’s episode of our Harry Potter podcast we take an in-depth look at the ongoing trial involving J.K. Rowling and RDR Books. Join Eric, Laura, Micah, Elysa and I as we have one of the more serious discussions in our three years of podcasting (but don't worry, we still have fun). - The trial was very emotional for both Jo and Steve but did it have to get to this point? - We review testimony given and comments made by both sides and offer our thoughts. - Breaking down the "fair use" doctrine, we try and get inside the head of Judge Patterson. - Which of the four categories of fair use would go in Jo or Steve's favor? - The negative impact this could have on the Harry Potter fandom and the "floodgates" that could open. - Elysa brings up a few previous court cases that have dealt with the "fair use" doctrine and the precedents set seem to favor J.K. Rowling and Warner Bros. (Harper and Roe Publishers vs. Nation Enterprises). - Make the Music Connection provides some laughter after a very serious episode. All that and much more discussion can be found on this week’s episode! To download, we recommend subscribing for free through either Apple iTunes (press Subscribe once you're there) or the ZUNE Marketplace. If you are already subscribed, just refresh your feed. As mentioned previously, MuggleCast has teamed up with Teddy Bears For Hope, a non-profit organization that provides brand new teddy bears to children around the world whose lives have been ravaged by tragedy. With Sunday, August 24 fast approaching we are heading for our final push. You can still donate and learn more about the charity by going to this page on the MuggleCast site. Some of you have e-mailed in saying you were unable to donate because you need permission or just don't have the necessary funds. That has been fixed -- all you need now is the simple click of your mouse. By going to SearchKindly.org, and voting for Teddy Bears For Hope you can help out. All of the organizations listed on the poll will receive a donation, but the size of the donations will be determined by the results of this poll. The greater the percentage of votes that a charity receives, the greater its share. Let's make sure our charity receives the most amount of votes. The funds it receives from this poll will go towards MuggleCast's overall effort. Thanks again to everyone who has made this a success thus far!

Back in August, with your help, MuggleCast raised roughly $1,600 for Teddy Bears for Hope, a non-profit organization that provides brand new teddy bears to children around the world whose lives have been ravaged by tragedy. Today, we wanted to share with you some photos that were passed along to us from the Covenant House in New Orleans, who received more than 40 teddy bears: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. Additionally, 30 bears were sent on an Emergency Response Vehicle with the Syracuse Chapter of the American Red Cross. These will be distributed to children who lose their homes in fires. The pediatric ward of La Vega Hospital in the Dominican Republic received 30 bears and the Hudson County Child Advocacy Center in New Jersey received 50 bears. Thanks again to everybody who helped make such a difference!

The good news: a new episode of our Harry Potter podcast is here! The bad news: our show is now formatted to comply with MuggleNet's money-saving policies. What does that mean? We'll have to severely shorten the length of new episodes from here on out (they'll average between 5 - 7 minutes), so you may notice that things feel a bit rushed. To download, just click here. This show will not be available in iTunes for the time being. We hope you... enjoy!

It's hard to believe it has been four years since Andrew, Ben and Kevin sat down to record the first episode of MuggleCast. Released August 7, 2005, Episode 1 would become the launching point for something truly amazing, as seven people - who knew relatively little about each other - would get together each week to discuss all things Harry Potter. Now, roughly 177 episodes later, the show has enjoyed tremendous success: a couple of podcasts awards, the #1 spot on iTunes, and live shows here in the United States, as well as Canada, England and Australia. But none of this would have been possible without you, the listeners! So thank you for four great years of podcasting and we look forward to many more! Be on the lookout for Episode 178 next week, where we'll discuss our four-year anniversary and a lot more!

MuggleNet's very own Micah Tannenbaum, the beloved news anchor of our podcast MuggleCast turns 27 today. Micah is known for his segments such as, "What's Buggin' Micah?" and more recently, "Micah's Dungeon" where he imprisons fanfic writers until they let him read their stuff on the air in his smooth, certain voice. Micah recently kicked a lot of butt in the news-posting position on the main site here and should probably have a ninja turtle named after him, well, just because. Happy birthday, buddy!
