As many members of the MuggleNet staff were enjoying MISTI-Con last weekend at the lovely Margate Hotel in Laconia, New Hampshire - surrounded by a beautiful lake and picturesque cottages - we couldn't help but wonder this:

How awesome would a Hogwarts resort be?

The Wizarding World at Universal is cool, but with all this news about the expansion of the park in Orlando and the brand-new park in Hollywood, what's stopping them from building a perfect hotel where one could stay inside Hogwarts, itself. Here's five reasons why this should happen.

1. More Realistic

The theme park is great, but it is kind of hard to get lost in the magical world when you're in Florida in the middle of the summer, surrounded by food vendors and carnival smells. It would be far easier to get an immersive experience at a Hogwarts resort. You'd be living in a castle and you could take a jaunt to the Forbidden Forest or Hagrid's Hut anytime you want. No funnel cake required.

2. Sense of Community

A Hogwarts resort would also be a great way for Harry Potter fans to come together as a community. At the theme park, each person or group visiting is isolated from the others. At a resort, there would be more space for fans to interact with each other and experience Hogwarts together. This would be awesome both because we already know that fans have a great time when they get together (shout out to everyone who turned out for MISTI-Con!) AND friendship is such an important part of the books that it would be fitting for a sense of community to be included in a Harry Potter attraction.

3. Money, Money, Money

A Hogwarts resort could make a ton of money for Universal. People coming to the Wizarding World already have to pay to stay somewhere - why not have it be at a Universal hotel? There could even be a tram system to transport fans from the resort to the park. We can hear the galleons pouring in already!

4. No Lines

By far the worst part of any theme park is waiting in line for rides, and since the Wizarding World is so popular, the lines for the rides there can get even crazier than in the rest of the park. At a resort, the activities for fans are ones that they wouldn't necessarily have to wait in line for: swimming in the lake, sightseeing from the towers, or walks in the Forbidden Forest. Universal could also do a tie-in for those that stay at the resort, offering discounts on HP shops in the park or giving each guest a fast pass so they can avoid lines at the Wizarding World as well.

5. Specialty Suites

The possibility for specialty rooms is endless: each of the common rooms, Dumbledore's Office, Lockhart's Office, the North Tower - the list goes on and on! Replicas of props from the movies would make for impressive luxury suites; the resort could be like the Studio Tour and theme park combined. We're partial to the idea of a Room of Requirement for guests to stay in. Imagine this: unlimited room service, brought by wait staff dressed as house elves, where you're not only allowed to order food, but anything you want.

Have we convinced you yet? What other things would you like to see from a Harry Potter resort?

Antonius and Vijay generally love to entertain their fans with musical numbers on their YouTube channel, but this time they have created something more geared to those who love visual art... and Harry Potter! Check out this new video in which they draw Harry Potter's life while singing along.

Hear, hear! Everyone has got to listen to this news.

Muggle scientists may have recently created yet another product from J.K. Rowling's magical universe - and we're not talking about invisibility cloaks or Weasley clocks this time, but full-fledged extendable ears!

It's true you might buy these kinds of magic devices in a joke shop like Zonko's, but this is no joke! The Bionic-ear created by scientists at Princeton University was built using "off-the-shelf 3D printing tools, silver nanoparticles, and cell culture" and can truly "detect radio frequencies far beyond the normal human range."

Read all about this scientific achievement in Biology, engineering (and wizardry) at CNET.com.

The kids of Saverna Park, Maryland are pretty magical, don't you think? A group of 12 kids from 5 families ranging in age from 8-14 have constructed a working, Hogwarts Express Go-Kart and yesterday raced it in the annual American Visionary Art Museum's kinetic sculpture race - a 15-mile-long race across Baltimore. Watch a video of the race here!

The entire train was built by the kids with just a little help from the parents. Here are some direct quotes from the builders:

"We just started off with a base of metal, then we put on the wheels and the seats, and then we put on the pedals and stuff. Then it kind of all came together." - said Harber Carlson, 13.

"The design uses a mix of materials - we mainly used canvass but there is some wood on there. We used a lot of Sharpe, but we stuck fabric on the windows. It was a lot of painting." - said Madeline Viteri, 11.

Severnapark.patch.com reports the vehicle itself was built using a lot of old bicycles, Styrofoam, wood and metal. It was then painted and designed to resemble the Hogwarts Express from the Harry Potter movies. See an image of the full project here and a pic of all the racers here!

These kids are incredible - we suspect they'll be getting their acceptance letters to Hogwarts school very soon.

Happy International Harry Potter Day! Today we celebrate one of the most iconic moments in the Harry Potter saga, the 15th Anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts, and Voldemort's defeat. It was on this day that the Wizarding community came together and made their stand against the forces of evil. It showed the world that when people unite for one cause in the darkest of times, facing of adversity, and choosing to do what is right instead of what is easy, the impossible becomes possible. It also showed us that the most powerful weapon we have is love, an iconic cornerstone of the Harry Potter fan community.

Earlier today, MuggleNet kicked off the 15th Anniversary celebrations by posting a LIVE tweet by tweet replay of the last 24 hours leading up to the Battle of Hogwarts, followed by a special 'In Memoriam' video showcasing the characters we lost. We are overwhelmed by the support that was shown for MuggleNet, and for Harry. Without Potter our world today wouldn't be the same. we wouldn't have Quidditch, fizzing whizbees, a theme park, Potter conventions, etc. What are you most thankful for that the HP series has given us? If you're on twitter, use the hashtag #harrypottersaved and let us know what you're thankful Harry saved.

Additionally, we would like to know how YOU are celebrating International Harry Potter Day. Are you in costume? Wearing your favorite Potter shirt? Having a movie marathon? Let us know and leave a comment below!

I believe your friends Misters Fred and George Weasley were responsible for trying to send you a toilet seat. No doubt they thought it would amuse you.
