In a small interview with Entertainment Weekly, the actor who plays Snape in the Potter films reveals he'll begin filming his parts for Half-Blood Prince in early February: EW: Okay, I think your wranglers are giving me the signal, but I have to say, even before I got to the end of the Harry Potter books — Rickman: Before you go any further, I never, ever talk about that character. Number one, because it's not fair on kids who haven't read to the end. And for me to say anything — there's a bit of it that just should be left innocent. It's real storytelling, what she's done, and I'm part of that. So I just never talk about it. EW: When do you go back to shoot Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince? Rickman: They're shooting six [now], and I start shooting my part of it beginning of February. EW: It's a bigger part for you this time. Rickman: Ahh.... There's important stuff. [Smiles]

The actor who plays Severus Snape recently spoke with Boston.com while promoting his new film Nobel Son. The reporter asked him a couple questions about his involvement with the Potter films: Q. Do children recognize you as Harry Potter's Severus Snape? A. Not really, because I'm generally not walking around wearing a black wig. Q. "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" comes out in July, and later in the year, you'll begin filming the series' final installment, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows." How do you feel knowing that the end is in sight? A. It means that I'll be able to do more theater as an actor. I couldn't really because I never know what my commitment could be. Q. Would you ever do another film, knowing it could be six sequels? A. Only if I was provided with a wheelchair and an oxygen tank. Thanks to Scot for the tip.

With all the news concerning The Tales of Beedle the Bard there have been a few other things of note going on: - Alan Rickman, who plays Severus Snape in the Potter series appeared Wednesday night on Jimmy Kimmel Live. He also did an interview with SciFi.com where he discussed his filming schedule and the impact of the final film: "Well, it'll be a big finish, won't it? That's true, and appropriately. You can feel it now, the size of the undertaking." The online magazine also got a hold of producer David Heyman where he discussed the delay of the sixth film and the impact of the decision to split Deathly Hallows. - On Thursday, RDR Books officially withdrew its appeal of U.S. District Judge Patterson's decision to publish an unauthorized companion novel to the Potter series. J.K. Rowling's public relations agency issued the following statement: "We are delighted that this matter is finally and favorably resolved and that J.K. Rowling's rights -- and indeed the rights of all authors of creative works -- have been protected," the statement said. "We are also pleased to hear that rather than continue to litigate, RDR have themselves decided to publish a different book prepared with reference to Judge Patterson's decision." The Muskegon Chronicle goes on to say that in the new book the words "An Unauthorized Guide to Harry Potter Fiction and Related Materials" appears boldly below "The Lexicon" title and above author Steve Vander Ark's name. There is further explanation that neither Rowling nor a host of others with trademarks and other interests in the Harry Potter series had any part in the book. - Finally, USA Today has written up a preview of ABC Family's Potter weekend which begins tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET. You can expect to see deleted scenes from Goblet of Fire as well as a look into Half-Blood Prince. The paper quotes producer David Heyman on the sixth film: "It's different than the other films. It's not the non-stop action that some of the others are, although there is some action. It's more of an emotional film."

It's not often that Alan Rickman talks about Potter (even our interview with him at the Half-Blood Prince premiere was a very special opportunity). This past Monday, Alan was at the Hudson Union Society and spoke about a wide range of topics surrounding his career including Potter. While he doesn't say much about Deathly Hallows filming, Alan does discuss what it's like working with different directors for all the different films. You can see three parts of the interview right here thanks to Snitch Seeker.

In a recent interview discussing his latest project with the International Herald Tribute, Alan Rickman acknowledges that he has just recently finished filming the role of Severus Snape for the Harry Potter series. "Not that it is bereft of interesting developments. The day before, for example, Mr. Rickman, 64, had just finished filming the final ‘Harry Potter’ movie. His portrayal of the slithery and surprising Severus Snape has brought him fame as never before, making him into one of the world’s most celebrated movie villains, a thrilling antihero to the Potter-mad masses." In anticipation of its 36-page feature on Harry Potter, Empire Magazine continues to release written and video interviews online.

Tonight, they have released a letter from Alan Rickman, the actor plays Professor Severus Snape to author J.K. Rowling. In it, he discusses how he has just returned from speaking into a microphone as Snape for the final time. He cannot believe how fast time has passed.

"Three children have become adults since a phone call with Jo Rowling, containing one small clue, persuaded me that there was more to Snape than an unchanging costume, and that even though only three of the books were out at that time, she held the entire massive but dedicate narrative in the surest of hands."

In a new interview with RTE, Alan Rickman discusses his years spent filming the 'Harry Potter' series and his pure admiration for the storytelling of J.K. Rowling.

On understanding the character of Severus Snape as the series moved on, he stated:

"...you're never quite sure what the agendas are, so there's as big a question mark over my head as I'm reading it and playing it as there is over everybody else's, until it's resolved. You know that the stakes are always very high for him, whatever the outcome proves to be."

On the last film's themes and how they resonate, he stated:

"The last film is about resolution and new beginnings. It's a springboard to the real future of these three young people and the lives they're going to lead. So, yeah, words like redemption and loyalty and what do you believe in and what are your values, they're all like great neon signs over their heads as they send their kids off to Hogwarts."

A recent poll from The Guardian asked its readership who their favorite Harry Potter character was, and they have compiled a Top 40 list of the results. At the top is our favorite Potions (and later Defense Against the Dark Arts) master, Severus Snape. The one-time headmaster of Hogwarts School may be pleased to know that he collected 20% of all 70,000 votes cast, and once again put Hermione Granger in her place (Hermione came in second).

Sirius Black scored bronze with the No. 3 spot, and Harry Potter only ranked Number 4 (and Ron Weasley in 5th). According to the article, Oliver Wood was #41 and therefore did not make the list.

For the full list of Top 40 characters based on the Guardian's findings, check out the article right here. Who is your favorite Harry Potter character, and where do they rank on this list?

Thanks to Warner Brothers France, a new interview with Alan Rickman - the actor who brilliantly portrayed Professor Severus Snape - has been released.

Mr. Rickman has remained silent for the past decade on discussing his character portrayal of Snape as he has always treated the character with the utmost respect and integrity.

He also discusses the brilliance of the crew that built the sets, especially set designer Stuart Craig, and watching the younger cast grow up in front of him.

Speaking about how Dan, Rupert, and Emma were admittedly scared of him in real life: "There was nothing ever deliberate, but the nature of filming is that there's little or no rehearsal, you go straight into it, and you're starting with three 12-year olds. I walk onto the set with black lenses in my eyes, an all-black outfit and a black wig.

One thing I can say for sure is that as soon as I put that costume on, something happens; you can't be someone else inside that outline. It has an effect on me. I would also say you don't have time because you're looking for real concentration, and you're trying to be as helpful to these three young people as possible. So it's better that I'm focused and not mucking about. So I'm not surprised if they got a bit alarmed, but it was just the nature of the beast."

Last week, MuggleNet staffer Laura Reilly attended a special performance of the new Broadway sensation Seminar, which stars acting icon Alan Rickman - who brilliantly portrayed Professor Severus Snape in the Harry Potter film series - as Leonard, an international literary figure who teaches a private writing class.

Laura was invited backstage to interview film star Jerry O'Connell, who is making his Broadway debut. In the interview, Jerry stated, "I can't say enough nice things about Alan Rickman, he's really helped me in my Broadway debut, not that I was nervous, but I'm a little green about which way upstage is...kidding"

You can read Laura's full report from the show right here.

Do you plan on seeing Alan Rickman perform in Seminar on Broadway? He is an amazing theatrical performer and you won't be disappointed.

In a new interview with HitFix, actor Alan Rickman - who portrayed Professor Severus Snape in the Harry Potter series - reveals more about what he knew, and did not know, from author J.K. Rowling during his character development process in the beginning of filming.

It has been rumored for so long that Rowling shared the ultimate character ending with Alan Rickman when he first accepted the role of the 'double agent' Snape, but Rickman says that was not what he was told:

"What I knew was he was a human being and not an automation and I knew there was some sense of protection for Harry or I worked that out. It was enough to know, I didn't know he was a double agent."

Curently, Alan Rickman is back on Broadway with the show 'SEMINAR' and enjoys being back in New York as well as being right up the street from Dan Radcliffe.

"It's been extraordinary to be just up the road from Daniel [Radcliffe] and go up and see him twice. Once at the beginning of his run and once when I came back to New York. Being on the stage in New York is always exciting because you feel like your part of the life of the city. People are aware of theater here and it's a terrific play. Its like people get touched in the laughter places and the pain places in an hones way so the audience response is tangible."

The Oscar campaign is in full swing for Alan Rickman and other cast and crew from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2. We also would love to see Alan and Dan get some Tony award recognition for their Broadway performances.

In a new interview with the Los Angeles Times Hero Complex, Alan Rickman talks more about his double-agent role that was motivated by long-lost love. Early on in the filming of the Harry Potter series, author J.K. Rowling took Alan aside and revealed this secret back story of Snape. Knowing this secret, set the actor up to portray Snape as something more complicated (and more tragic) than a mere black-caped villain.

Producer David Heyman stated this of Rickman:

"It was quite amusing, too, because there were times when a director would tell Alan what to do in a scene and he would say something like, 'No, I can't do that - I know what is going to happen and you don't!' He had a real understanding of the character and now looking back, you can see there was always more going on there - a look, an expression, a sentiment - that hint at what is to come...the shadow that he casts in these films is a huge one and the emotion he conveys is immeasurable."

Alan Rickman spoke of the "the unique experience" of "watching the movies grow up with the children" as the years brought a darker story tone and evolving cast dynamic:

"It was a punctuation mark in my life every year because I would be doing other things but always come back to that and I was always aware of my place in the story even as others around me were not. Am I sad? The point about a great story is that it's got a beginning, a middle, and end. The ending of this story was quite popular and beautifully judged by Jo Rowling and David Yates, so it's not a cause for sadness; it's a cause for celebration that it was rounded off so well."

Rickman's portrayal of Snape was so well received throughout the 8-film series, we can only hope he gets recognized by the Academy at the upcoming Oscar Awards.

Thanks to our friends at The Leaky Caudron for the tip!

Just last week, we reported that Dan Radcliffe was named as Broadway.com's 'Star of the Year' by fan voting. Today, we are proud to report that another Harry Potter star, Alan Rickman - who portrayed the double-agent Severus Snape - received some recognition for his Broadway hit Seminar.

Seminar has just been awarded Broadway.com's Favorite Broadway Show of 2011, as voted on by the fans amassing an amazing 31% of the total votes. Congratulations to Alan Rickman and the cast and crew of Seminar.

In related Broadway news, Darren Criss is set to open his version of J. Pierrepont Finch in the hit show How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying in place of Dan Radcliffe tomorrow night. In a recent report by The New York Times, Darren Criss was called a triple threat - a person who can act, sing and dance. In fact, Darren can dance a little too well:

"What you are doing is almost too good!" said director Rob Ashford, who wanted Mr. Criss's feet to be flat and extend sideways like an outstretched marionette because the character should lack finesse, while Darren was tucking his feet as a professional dancer would. Needless to say, Darren was leaping with precise imprecision a few moments later.

Darren Criss will be performing the role for the next three weeks, which is relatively rare for a newcomer to Broadway. However, we are certain we will see Darren's name in lights on Broadway soon enough.

Are you planning on seeing the hit Broadway show Seminar, or Darren Criss in How to Succeed? Let us know in the comments below.

The New York Times Arts & Leisure Weekend sat down with actor Alan Rickman to discuss acting and his distinctly famous voice, along with his thoughts on Harry Potter and his Broadway show Seminar.

On Alan's now famous voicing style, he shared how it had been a problem for him in drama school:

"They said I had a very lazy diction, that I had a spastic soft palate...my voice teacher said, 'You sound as if your voice is coming out of the back end of a drainpipe.' So that's how cruel drama school is. It means, I suppose, basically, that I had to learn to bring it all forward. It was kind of traveling backward."

In speaking about Harry Potter:

"With the last film, it was very cathartic, because you were finally able to see who he was. It was strange, in a way, to play stuff that was so emotional...but satisfying on all sorts of levels. You know, Ray [Fienees - who played Voldemort] and I had a scene where you just thought, well, finally it's just a couple of actors talking to each other, with no special effects."

And on holding a wand:

"Holding a wand is not the most threatening thing. And pointing it at Dame Maggie Smith, who you've grown up worshipping from the cheap seats at the National Theatre, and she's pointing it at you...and she can arch an eyebrow like nobody. Thank God for the sheets of flame."

In a new article by the Daily Mail, Alan Rickman could be preparing to bring his Broadway performance in Seminar, by Theresa Rebeck, to the West End of London in the autumn.

However, this is only in early discussions to transfer the show from the John Golden Theatre in New York City to the West End Theatre District, and the producer David Ian has told the Mail's Baz Bamigboye that the show will NOT make it to London unless Rickman comes with it.

Alan Rickman - who is known to the Harry Potter fandom for his brilliant performance in the role as Professor Severus Snape - plays an author who runs a literary workshop in the one act show.

Time Out New York said:

"Seminar is sexy, savvy, and uproarious! Alan Rickman Gives the comic performance of the season!"

Have you seen Seminar yet?
