According to an MTV blog report, Emma Thompson will not reprise the role of Professor Trelawney in the two-part Potter finale. Forced to choose between Deathly Hallows and the sequel to Nanny McPhee, Thompson said the choice was obvious. "The Harry Potters are great big franchises that are something I’m not emotionally attached to or necessarily particularly creatively attached to. That’s more like doing a turn, whereas the Nanny McPhees are something I’ve written. The art is in those films, they’re very handmade, they’re something that’s very close to me. Those are the ones I really care about."

Emma Thompson, who plays Professor Trelawney in the Potter films, was on the set of Deathly Hallows recently, said Clemence Poesy in an interview with Tatler Magazine. But in Paris, she adds, 'the French are too snob' to admit to recognising anyone. 'And I'm proud of that!' So proud that when Emma Thompson -- a heroine of hers -- was in make-up for Harry Potter the other day and she felt a goosepimply 'Aaaah!', she 'didn't say anything. Because I'm French! I won't admit it!' Thompson had said before that she would not reprise her role in the final installments of the series. Are you looking forward to seeing Trelawney in the final film? Thanks to Keith!

So glad she's back!
I wouldn't have minded if she weren't there

Hot on the heels of a story we first reported the other day, Professor Trelawney actress Emma Thompson has now directly confirmed her appearance in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Emma revealed the information during a press junket for her upcoming film 'Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang'.

She said she had "done her two days" of shooting. Fans were worried she would not return for the film after she made comments in 2008 hinting at moving on from Potter.

Moveover, she confirmed that her sister Sophie Thompson will play Mafalda Hopkirk (though we already knew this). If you're in the UK, you can listen to the interview at this link. Thanks to Ryan for the tip!

Love it!
Loathe it.

A new photo of Emma Watson released today reveals her brand new hair style. See a full size photo at this link! Below, Emma talks about her new doo with Entertainment Weekly:

"Oh my God, it was the most liberating thing!" she tells EW.com. "The stylist just grabbed the back of my hair and took a whole ponytail of hair out. It felt amazing. I love it." The chic, gamine cut, created by New York stylist Rodney Cutler of Cutler Salon and seen in this exclusive Polaroid from EW's upcoming Fall Movie Preview issue, might not seem like a huge deal to most 20-year-olds. But Watson has had to sport essentially the same hairstyle for ten years while she played Hermione. "I missed all that experimentation that most teenagers go through," she says. "I've wanted to do this since I was about 16, so as soon as I had the chance I was like, 'Right. This is it.'"
