Actress Julie Walters, who played Molly Weasley in the Harry Potter films, will receive the honorary Richard Harris Award this Sunday at the Moet British Independent Film Awards.
The award honors outstanding contribution to British film by an actor. It was introduced in 2002 after the death of Richard Harris, who of course played the beloved Albus Dumbledore in the first two Potter films.
Julie has appeared in many other British films such as Educating Rita, Billy Elliot, and Mamma Mia!, and as we previously reported, she can be seen next year in the David Heyman-produced film, Paddington.
Several other Harry Potter stars have received the award in the past, which is unsurprising considering the wide range of British actors who were involved in the Potter films. The recipients include John Hurt, Jim Broadbent, David Thewlis, Helena Bonham Carter, Ralph Fiennes, and Sir Michael Gambon.
The award ceremony will take place at Old Billingsgate in London this Sunday, December 8 and will be streamed live by Film3Sixty at 8:00 PM GMT. Will you be watching?
