The Ultimate Edition of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part One and Part Two have long been wondered about. Most recently we reported that Amazon Germany had the pair listed for an October 16th release. Well, if you live in the United States, and have a Target nearby, you may be able to go get them today!

Thanks to Twitter follower Matthew R., we have received photographs of the collection, 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5, which is actually only one set that contains both movies, unlike Amazon Germany, which shows the movies as separate editions. The boxset contains everything promised from the Ultimate Edition DVD's, including the collector cards, DVD & BluRay versions, an UltraViolet copy, and the last two installments of the 8 part documentary on the Harry Potter series, "Story" & "Growing Up".

MuggleNet called a few stores in Massachusetts and was told that "select stores will be getting the boxset, and probably only 1-2 copies at most." These particular Ultimate Editions are not yet listed as being available on Amazon, so at this time it looks like only Target will be carrying the set!

Why do you think there was such little news about this release? And why is the boxset only available at Target?

Amazon's German website has posted info and covers for Ultimate Editions of both Deathly Hallows - Part 1 and Part 2.

Covers: Deathly Hallows - Part 1 | Deathly Hallows - Part 2

The site reports that the Ultimate Editions are due out on October 19, but as yet we have not received any confirmation of this date from Warner Bros. It is suspect these two would be released after The Wizard's Collection on September 7.

Great news today for the UK fans of the Harry Potter series. We have received word that the Harry Potter Ultimate Edition DVDs for Years 1-6 will finally be released in the UK on November 14, 2011. Previously, these editions of the series were only available in the US.

A new first look at Creating The World of Harry Potter can now be seen courtesy of Harry Potter: The Quest.

This feature will appear on the Ultimate Edition of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1 and shows Dan Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint looking back on their first press conference with director Chris Columbus and producer David Heyman.

We received the Order of the Phoenix and Half-Blood Prince Ultimate Edition DVD sets in advance of their release tomorrow, and would like to share a couple of thoughts about them with you!

In case you're unaware: Warner Brothers is in the midst of re-releasing all of the films in Ultimate Edition formats.  Each Ultimate Edition includes a booklet with never-before-seen photos and artwork, lenticular cards, and of course the film with its original DVD special features.

The standout feature with each of the Ultimate Editions is the Creating the World of Harry Potter documentary.  Each film includes one new hour of the documentary, which means by the time all eight films are released we'll have an 8-hour documentary looking at the creation of the franchise.

Order of the Phoenix and Half-Blood Prince include the Evolution and Magical Effects parts of the doc respectively.

Evolution looks at the challenges of creating the franchise over the years.  It includes interview bits with all of the directors as well as J.K. Rowling.  You see lots of behind-the-scene footage and Dan Radcliffe's original screen test.  Stuart Craig discusses creating the film sets (such as Hogwarts) without knowing the plots of future books.  One of the most interesting parts of this documentary is when Sorcerer's Stonedirector Chris Columbus reveals he wanted to split book one into two films.  He said Part 1 would end after Harry's first Quidditch match.

Magical Effects goes into creating the magic we see in the films.  They spend a lot of time discussing how they decide whether to do computer generated effects or make 'real' magic.  One example are the letters that fly around in The Dursley's home - every single letter was real.  They explain how they created that effect.

As we've said before, the Ultimate Editions are a great addition to any fan's collection.  The main reason to purchase these sets are for the documentary, and we think that having all eight Ultimate Editions on one shelf will make for a nice sight.  We can't wait to have the set complete!

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix Ultimate Edition and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Ultimate Edition are available on Blu-ray and DVD Tuesday, June 14th.  For pre-order links, visit our info page.
