Pottermore may not exactly be under constant praise from the Harry Potter fan community, but according to The Bookseller Industry awards, the website came out on top, taking the win for Digital Strategy of the Year Award in the UK. Goodereader.com reports that Pottermore triumphed over industry bigwigs Kobo, Random House, Penguin, Bloomsbury, and Harlequin.

The article commends Pottermore for certain aspects of their unique approach to selling eBooks, including J.K. Rowling’s high level of control and involvement on the website, the company’s ability to have complete say over prices, and the fact that eBooks are compatible with all of the major e-readers and tablets.

One of the chief reasons Pottermore has been as successful as it has in terms of sales is because of the nature of the website and that:

They made an online world to live out the Harry Potter adventures. Every few months, new content is implemented and young folk can join in picking their House, engaging in wizard duels, making potions, visiting Diagon Alley, and getting up to all sorts of other hijinx.”

We congratulate the Pottermore team on this award and look forward to new installments! Have you bought any eBooks from the Pottermore shop? What has been your favourite moment so far on Pottermore?

The final scores of the third Pottermore House Cup were announced this morning with Slytherin just taking the lead.

  • 1st place - Slytherin - 26,990,924
  • 2nd place - Ravenclaw - 26,916,194
  • 3rd place - Gryffindow - 26,740,444
  • 4th place - Hufflepuff - 26,715,401

The House has now won the Hogwarts' House Cup twice, whilst previous winners, Gryffindor, have slipped to third place. It would seem that without Dumbledore's favourite still at the school, the Slytherins are back to ruling to roost once again

As is tradition, the Great Hall has been decked out in the Slytherin colours with green and silver banners lining the walls.

Are you celebrating your House's win or are drowning your sorrows in a keg of Butterbeer? Let us know in the comments section below.

According to a recent tweet from Pottermore, the hourse points will be concealed tomorrow and then on Thursday, the third Pottermore House Cup winner will be announced.

The First House Cup was won by Slytherin House and the Second House Cup was taken by the Gryffindor House.

It's definitely a very tight race as Slytherin in currently in the lead by a narrow margin. Will your house be victorious in this year's House Cup? Head on over to Pottermore now and help push your house over the top.

On Sunday, MuggleNet published its 4,000 word review of Pottermore at PlayStation Home, complete with 80 screen shots. Now, PlayStation Home users everywhere can download and explore Diagon Alley and the Hogwarts Express on their own, because Pottermore at PlayStation Home has gone public!

The streets of Diagon Alley are already beginning to fill with witches and wizards trading cards, herding books, and buying school robes - or even owls! We recommend Pottermore at PlayStation Home for any user who was a little non-plussed with the web version at Pottermore.com, or for anyone who is looking for a genuinely magical experience. Pottermore at PlayStation Home is both more interactive and more personal than its web counterpart!

You will need a PlayStation 3 console and a PlayStation Network account to access Pottermore at PlayStation Home, but the experience is free and the whole thing is run from your Internet connection.

A recent press release from the people at Pottermore announced that the online companion to the Harry Potter books would soon be coming to platform gaming - specifically, PlayStation Home. MuggleNet has previewed the experience, gone inside the world of Harry Potter and explored, in-depth, the environments of Diagon Alley and the Hogwarts Express that will be available to Playstation Home users in April. Our two-person, four-thousand word review is now on-line!

Playstation Home is free to use for anyone with a Sony PlayStation console through the console's Internet connection. Our review includes over 80 screenshots of the gorgeous, in-game experience as well as a full walkthrough of the items and features that the Pottermore experience will provide! In short, Kat and I (who reviewed the experience) were very pleased and, at times, blown away by just how FUN this version of Pottermore was, even when it was only the two of us! When the experience goes live next month, we can't wait to see all of you wandering around, trading cards and herding books with us.

In Pottermore™ at Playstation Home, users will have the ability to roam around two environments from the Harry Potter series, Diagon Alley and the Hogwarts Express. Clothing and items to adorn your avatar will be available for purchase, and interactive games with other online participants include Book Herding, Card Trading, Pottermore Quiz and Wizard Dueling. In our review, we found all of the activities to be unexpectedly enjoyable, and really can NOT wait to hear more about what will come next. We will provide all of your continued coverage on Pottermore™ at Playstation Home here on MuggleNet.
