If you're interested in how LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 came together, Eurogamer has a great new video interview with the game's staff including lead designer, Arthur Parsons and Head of Production at TT Games, Jonathan Smith.
Will Thompson, the game's character artist, shows how Barty Crouch Sr. was created and tells how it took weeks to put him all together. Stuart Niblock, environment artist, explains how he built Gryffindor Common Room.
Andy Latham, animator, walks you through a cut-scene from Year 3 where Ron forgets Scabbers on Platform 9 & 3/4 and Molly Weasley chases after the Hogwarts Express.
"We take the simplest of moments in the film and just run with them."
He then describes how this kind of a process comes together: we start off with a storyboard, then populate the scene and characters, begin blocking out the characters, blocking out their actions, almost making a three-dimensional version of the storyboard.
The video wraps with Carl Greatix, the model designer, who talks about how they incorporate the LEGO product into the game. He says the most elaborate build was the Whomping Willow.
If you have any questions about the game, be sure to tweet us @MuggleNet and we'll be sure to answer them!

If there's somewhere a Harry Potter podcast may ever want to host a live podcast from, it's probably at a place that Harry Potter fans can collectively call home.
That's why we are extremely excited to announce that MuggleCast will be hosting a live podcast in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park - in The Three Broomsticks to be exact - during Infinitus' Night of A Thousand Wizards party on July 16th!
The podcast will be open to all who have purchased tickets to the party. At this time tickets are no longer available, but since the event sold out we figure most MuggleCast fans attending Infinitus already got 'em.
The podcast will be released online on July 17th. We think it's going to be a really fun show filled with lots of talk about the theme park with the audience as we sip on a fine glass of butterbeer!

Check it out! Warner Brothers has released the one-sheet for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1.
It depicts Hogwarts in absolute shambles and includes the headline "It All Ends Here".
Do you like this poster? It's mighty depressing!

One thing we noticed about the just-released Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows poster is its similarity to one of the first Sorcerer's Stone posters.
By viewing our comparison you can see that Warner Brothers may have purposely designed the Deathly Hallows poster to be somewhat reminiscent of the Sorcerer's Stone poster released 10 years. The lake in the foreground with Hogwarts sitting high on a cliff in the distance - only this time, it's a mess.
Is this the thought process you think they had?

In an interview with MTV while at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Bonnie Wright spoke about filming the epilogue and her experiences playing Ginny Weasley in the Potter series.
Regarding the epilogue:
"It wasn't my last scene, but it was one of my last scenes. That's where I started the journey of 'Harry Potter,' on the platform, and then to see the girl who's playing our daughter was just psychologically, it was very weird, because she's the same age as me. It was literally having a whole cycle of the journey."

There's a really easy way for you to help better the world. The Harry Potter Alliance is in the running for the Chase Community Giving Challenge's top prize of $250,000.
All they have to do is have the most votes out of all the charities in the competition.
To vote, CLICK HERE, press the green "Vote Now" button, hit "Like" (if you haven't already), and then press Vote Now again. Encourage your friends to vote too!
It's a ridiculously simple way to help a great cause. Thanks for the support! For the record, here's how The Harry Potter Alliance plans to use the money:
With $250,0000 we can improve Literacy, LGBT Rights, AND build an Online Coalition of Fandoms, Youtube Communities, and Organizations. No one has ever before brought communities like these together and the one time we have, we raised over $123,000 for Haiti. Human rights and fighting global warming continue to lack the kind of energy and enthusiasm that we will bring to the table. Ready to see a game changer in the world of social activism? If we win the $250,000 prepare to see a massive shift!

The Orlando Sentinel has a nice report on how Universal is dealing with the large crowds descending upon the Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park at Universal Orlando. Of note, the article says that the main attraction - Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey - has seen over half a million riders.
Below, find details on how Universal is handling the large crowds:
The crowd-control moves, many of which have an improvised quality to them, range from issuing rafflelike paper tickets to prevent people from cutting into the long queue that appears many mornings at the entrance to Wizarding World, to halting indefinitely the sale of liquor inside the Hog's Head tavern so the bar can more quickly move mugs of butterbeer, the sugary concoction based on a popular drink in the Harry Potter books and movies.
Read more specific details at The Orlando Sentinel. Do you plan on visiting the park soon?

On July 18th the Wizarding World will reach its one month anniversary since its public Grand Opening.
So, how are the wait times holding up? Unsurprisingly, the park is still packed with fans who want to experience the park for the first time. We decided to ask our friend Terri - who visited the park the other day - what the wait times were like for her this past Monday.
She found:
- 15 to 20 minute wait to enter Honeydukes and Zonkos shops
- 1 to 2 hour wait to ride Forbidden Journey
- 2 to 3 hour wait to enter Ollivanders Wand Shop
- 1 hour to get into The Three Broomsticks
There was up to a 1 hour wait to simply enter the park this morning (Wednesday). If you have any other wait times you'd like to contribute, please leave them in the comments section of this post!

The estate of British author Adrian Jacobs that took on Bloomsbury in 2009 is now suing Scholastic claiming that "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" is "substantially similar" to Jacobs' 1987 book "The Adventures of Willy the Wizard."
“The central theme of each work -- a yearlong wizard contest -- unfolds as similar characters enact parallel plot points,” according to the complaint.
Check out the Bloomberg article here. Has anyone read "The Adventures of Willy the Wizard"? Do you think Jacobs' estate has a valid point?

In a new interview with the UK Press Association, Matthew Lewis discusses some of the changes that audiences will see in Neville Longbottom during Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
On some of the physical changes of Neville:
"The teeth and the ears were the first to go, and then the fatsuit came shortly after - I look a lot more like him in the new film. I didn't mind wearing all those things because it was appropriate for the character. He's been a bit more bloody and battered as he's been living underground so we've made him slim out."
As readers are aware, Neville becomes a completely changed character in the final installment. He turns into a reckless resistance leader who fights and becomes a heroic figure during the final battle of Hogwarts. Matt states that, "He's (Neville) still not perfect, but he comes through where it counts."
For all we have on the final films, check out our Movie 7 section.

Hammer became synonymous with the horror genre in the 1950s thanks to films like Dracula and The Mummy.
Production begins this fall.

Last week we reported that British author Adrian Jacobs was suing Scholastic, claiming that Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is "substantially similar" to Jacobs' 1987 book The Adventures of Willy the Wizard.
Today, Scholastic commented on the issue saying that the claim "is completely without merit."
"Scholastic spokeswoman Kyle Good says the claim that Rowling's agent, Christopher Little, was also an agent to 'Adrian Jacobs is simply untrue' and says the publisher extends its complete support to a statement made by Rowling earlier this year."
In that statement Rowling said she never heard of the author or the book before the first accusation was made in 2004.

- The forests are full of magical creatures: Inferi, dragons, spiders, and something you wouldn't expect to see outside of the grounds of Hogwarts.
- There will not be a traditional Collector's Edition, but EA is doing something special with the packaging.

According to a recent report, Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling was spotted this week in the corner of a cafe typing on her laptop. What she is writing, we can only guess as she was sitting with her back firmly against a wall to keep any stray eyes off of her work.
We have reported previously that Jo has been writing what could be the Harry Potter Encyclopedia. It has also been speculated that she is working on a new children's book. Only time will tell.
What do you think she is working on?

The lead actor of the Harry Potter film series spoke with The Los Angeles Times today via phone and commented on the rumors about his presence at this past week's Comic Com:
"I apologize to all the wishful thinkers for my disappointing non-presence," Radcliffe said Monday by phone from London.
The actor, who has finished some post-production voice work on the last "Potter" film, says he is still grappling a bit with the concept that he will never wear the robes of Hogwarts on screen again. He still cares deeply about "Potter" fans, though -- he sounded genuinely distressed to hear for the first time about the wildfire rumors that led fans to believe he would be at the San Diego pop-culture expo that wrapped up on Sunday.
"Really? Oh, God, I had no idea. I suppose it's like when I'm at Reading Festival and I hear that suddenly some amazing band is going to play a surprise gig and then it turns out to be total fiction."
Dan also discussed how his 21st birthday went. He revealed that he had spent the time with two friends in St. Petersburg. Read the full article at this link!

The Scotsman reports that a horoscope and natal chart written by JK Rowling some time ago for the parents of a baby boy is now up for sale:
The multi-millionaire writer, who celebrates her 45th birthday tomorrow had met the parents of the boy at baby classes she attended with daughter Jessica when she was a penniless single mother in Edinburgh.
The horoscope, dedicated to Jack David Buchanan who was born in 1994, offers a fascinating insight into Rowling's writing and imagination before she went on to worldwide success.
The cover illustration depicts the chart's key astrological symbols of the sun, fishes and a lion in pen, ink, and coloured pencil laid down on bright blue coloured card.
In it, Rowling, who is worth more than £500million, displays a detailed knowledge of Western astrology which was later to play an important part in her books.
She wrote: "Born the cusp of Aquarius and Pisces. He will enjoy school, perhaps be accident-prone, (like all Pisces) could be prone to alcoholism, and (perhaps like us all) may well fall in love with someone totally incompatible."

Not even two months after the Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park opened in Orlando, today there are rumors concerning a park to be opened in India featuring rides from Universal properties such as Harry Potter. From The Wall Street Journal:
Reliance, a media-to-energy conglomerate backed by billionaire Anil Ambani, would be full owner of the park but would pay Universal royalties and fees for using brands and content linked to popular Hollywood movies such as "Jaws," "E.T.," "Spider-Man" and the "Harry Potter" franchise, this person said.
The park would look much like Universal's other major theme parks in Los Angeles, Orlando, Fla., and Japan, with a variety of roller coasters and rides, shops with movie-related merchandise and nearby hotels. The complex is expected to stretch over 400 acres, which would make it one of the biggest such sites in the world, the person familiar with the matter said.
Reliance's Big Entertainment subsidiary and Universal, a unit of General Electric Co.'s NBC Universal, still are discussing terms, but could reach a deal this year. One person familiar with the matter warned, however, that talks are at an early stage, and could yet break down.
