To Jean and Harmonyalways: I would like to say first that I am a very confident H/G R/H shipper. But I would also like to tell you that I think you are both pretty brave to come to the comments page and try to explain your point of view to a group of people that are vastly against it, and to do it with class and beyond the mean and silly remarks that tend to come along with any shipping discussion. I think if we all just removed the fanatic element from any conversation concerning romantic relationships in the HP world we would just get along better (or we would have considering every shipping debate will end in less than a month), but of course it is always easier to just start calling names and being mean to each other. I have always been fascinated by how differently two people can interpret the same piece of information, like what you just mentioned about jk using complex language to make us think she was making R/H official when she actually she was confirming the opposite. Personally I don't think that this is correct, but I still find it very interesting. Maybe we are all just seeing what we want to see. I have been reading through the comments and it is true that many of the them are pretty mean to H/H shippers. Come on now, what are we, four? I think most of us are in our adult years now or nearing them ( And if you ARE four that is not an excuse to be mean either :/) so maybe its time to act grown up and listen to both people that think like us and people that don't. In the end I think it WILL be R/H and H/G, but that doesn't mean I don't understand why H/H shipper like their ship. Let's have a conversation, not a fight... I don't agree with Olbermann's theory that Jo would end the book with Harry alive just because of movie 5 coming out two weeks before book 7 and ruining movie 6 and 7 attendance if the audience already knows Harry dies. She has said she has remained loyal to her original plan, blocked out long before the book had such phenomenal success and that could mean either ending, live or die.

Hi Cess - thank-you so much for your very gracious words. Like you, I can quite see why many prefer another ship to H/Hr, and even if it isn't what I would choose, they have their own reasons for choosing to do so which are perfectly valid. Again, like you, it bothers me to see the fanatics try to spoil it for everyone else (I swear, HP shipping sometimes reminds me of fundamentalist religious zealots). I try to remember that not everyone is this way, and people like you help me to believe that there's still hope for decent friendly fans everywhere!

I don't know. Do you enjoy being mean to people who disagree with you on what is really a very trivial issue? (I love "Harry Potter", but resolving the shipping issue isn't exactly finding a cure for cancer now, is it?). I don't want to sound like I think it is only the R/Hr fans who are mean, as I've seen plenty of nasty comments from H/Hr fans as well. It just seems silly and Malfoy-ish, and it makes us all look like idiots when we tolerate it. I know that we're better than this! We've all got good taste enough to like "Harry Potter", after all!

I suppose this topic will always bring some sort of argument. It seems like people in the Harry Potter world are never satisfied unless someone is arguing with someone else about who will end up with who. I find it astonishing that people who are true Potter fans become so obsessed with the romantic aspect of the books! If you want romance, pick up a romance novel. I mean, I understand that it is inevitable that teenagers will experience hormones and thus be "interested" in people.. but is that seriously the reason why people continue reading? Just to prove to the other side that they're right in their thinking? Besides, the chances that R/Hr or H/Hr would stay together after beginning to date in.. well.. their version of High School.. seems very slim and frankly rather unrealistic. I realize it's all fun and games but it seems to me that comment like many of the ones posted here (as well as many in the very opinionated post by Emerson) are just unnecessary. Sure, I love the idea of Ron and Hermione getting together. It would be adorable and remind me rather much of my own relationship. But I urge everyone to remember that regardless of what happens and how many times you get to laugh at the other side when your idea turns out to be true, it's not the reason you started reading these books. It's not the reason you've devoted 7+ years to this series.

Keith Olbermann was hilarious! I really hope he's wrong, though. Being stripped of magical powers doesn't seem to be the _right_ kind of sacrifice for Harry to be making. And the role of love is completely absent in Olbermann's theory. But Snape's part needs to be more interesting than just intervening at the last moment to get rid of Harry's horcrux/scar. Just seems inadequate, somehow.

I don't know is some of you go on h/hr forums but if you do, you'll notice that a big majority of them stay polite. What i mean is they don't treat chocos and herons badly, they say what they have to say without being mean. If someone gets carried away, an other harmonian will say to calm down and keep it 'cool'. I think that since this site has no (or isn't supose to have) ship in particular, it would be best if we made it that way (polite), because seriously this delusional thing is harsh. Once again, i would like to remember you that every ship has it's reason. Lets just listen to what others have to say and thats all. Even if I don't like the coupling I still accept the obvious. For example, I have never been a Harry/Ginny fan, but I accept that that is obviously the pairing J.K. has chosen and made quite obvious like Ron/Hermione (who I do happen to like together)...at least you H/H shippers make things interesting!

What's obvious to you may not always be so obvious to others. I have to admit that part of my severe dislike for R/Hr comes from the fact that my parents were very similar. They fought ALL the time - the bickering was constant, as were the sulks and silences. They divorced when I was a child and I was actually glad, as the house was peaceful again and I didn't have to spend my time tiptoeing around waiting for the next explosion. Ever since I have never been able to bring myself to feel happy or comfortable with relationships where bickering/fighting is such a big part. I'm wary, NOT dim. It hurts my feelings when people assume that I don't ship R/Hr because I don't see it and therefore I must be stupid.

You are definately excluded from the folks I consider "dim". The folks who really drive me crazy are those who ignore the fact that Harry and Ginny were together in book six, deny that there has been any evidence of a R/Hr future pairing and those who continue to ignore the fact that J.K. herself has said countless times that it will be a R/Hr ship. Harry and Hermione have always had a platonic love....too much like kissing your brother--ewww!

People keep saying there are hints of Harry/hermione in the movies, I can't be watching them close enough to see it. I have nothing against H/H shippers, I think it makes it more interesting when people have different perspective on things.

Kgblack_nz: I think people are referring to hugs Hermione gives Harry when she's worried about him, for example in GOF right before the first task in the tent when Rita Skeeter catches them. Again, platonic, but people read into things. I can kinda see the film-makers playing up to a possible H/Hr ship, but I see through it while others don't.

I don't know if anybody's still going at it, but I'd like to offer some perspective from the mean side, that hopefully won't come off too mean (I'm a R/HR shipper). I'm quite passionate about things I feel, and sometimes that can blind me and make me act rudely, hence closeminded comments. I think the reason why I can make such mean comments, and in a way get away with them (or feel like I do and can), is before all of this we had no hardcore evidence or proof. Before I was constantly annoyed by the mean H/HR shippers on this site (and others), believing so incredibly in their ship, and I just couldn't understand. To be attacked for years for your belief (I know that may sound a little too dramatic), that you know in your heart to be true, is annoying and frustrating, and now we have Jo's words that plain and simple we were RIGHT. Well, it's fantastic, and all it makes me want to do is throw it in somebody's face, it's my nature, sorry. But to believe that other people with their own bad experiences won't lash out and be rude and negative is wishful thinking (sorry, again). People have arguments with friends and family, complete strangers having peace? It could occur, but I've never seen it happen.
