WARNING: This is a very opinionated post!Keith Olbermann has made some bold public predictions about the end of the series on his TV news show, Countdown with Keith Olbermann. Make sure you read the second page of the article before making judgment. It is my personal belief, and not necessarily that of the rest of the MuggleNet staff, that he is not far off the mark in his guesses. Except for that whole Harry turning into a Muggle business. I mean, really?
In other news, Scholastic has published the results of their fourth fan poll question. They claim a majority of fans - 56% - believe that Harry will end up with Hermione, 20% believe that Ron will end up with Hermione and 19% believe that Harry will end up with Ginny.
Um, was Scholastic polling people who have actually read the books? 56% of fans are wrong. I quote JKR, in the interview Melissa and I conducted with her two summers ago:
JK Rowling: Yes, we do now know that it's Ron and Hermione. I do feel that I have dropped heavy hints. ANVIL-sized, actually, hints, prior to this point. I certainly think even if subtle clues hadn't been picked up by the end of Azkaban, that by the time we hit Krum in Goblet...
I would think it's difficult to interpret "Yes, we do now know that it's Ron and Hermione" and "anvil-sized hints" any other way, but apparently 56% of fans disagree with me (or just haven't read the interview... or Book 6... or Book 5... or Book 4...). But then, many fans still believe Dumbledore is alive, despite JK Rowling saying that he is "definitely dead." Come on, guys. Wishful thinking isn't going to bring him back.
Note that the question wasn't Who Do You Want to End Up With Whom?, but Who Will End Up With Whom?. There's a difference between wanting something to be true, and believing it is true. There is a word in the English dictionary for holding a belief without evidence, and in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary... I'll give you a hint, it starts with a D.
UPDATE: I don't know if I can make this any clearer, but I will try one more time.
I am not calling all Harry/Hermione shippers delusional! I respect H/Hr shippers who acknowledge the obvious: that JKR paired up Ron and Hermione, but wish she hadn't. The only people I am calling delusional are the shippers who try to wriggle and rationalize their way around "Yes, we do now know that it's Ron and Hermione" and still believe the two will make babies in Book 7. Right, because JKR was lying to us? HOPING is different from BELIEVING!

Ahahahahaha. I used to be a H/Hr shipper, but I always knew it was R/Hr. I just liked Harry with Hermione better. But I do think people are silly to think Harry is still going to marry Hermione.
What I don't get is that all of the people who made comments are voting for Ron/Hermione! So why is it that 56% of people voted Harry/Hermione? I meen all the people who voted for H/Hr must have not read the books or watched JKR's interview!

lol. I think Emerson has finally gotten fed up with Scholastic. Those stupid polls. The majority of the people who take them probably have not read any interviews with JK Rowling and probably don't look at too many harry potter information sites. Those polls make me angry too Emerson!
I do see the point some are making that the movies play up to a H/Hr ship. I see a little. But please people, don't ignore the glaringly obvious R/Hr hints in the latter three films! Awkward hug in COS at the end, the hand grabbing, then quickly pulling away when Harry is about to pet Buckbeak, and most obvious of all-in GOF Ron's jealousy and fight with Hermione during the Yule Ball for going with Krum. There is a lot of R/Hr stuff in the movies, some people just see what they want to see. I agree the books have more R/Hr stuff in it but the movies are for the most part staying faithful to the obvious R/Hr ship.
I propose this website no longer even address the issue anymore since it is pretty much set in stone that it will be a R/Hr pairing. Let's move on and discuss other topics that are undetermined...
I don't really agree that this should have been posted as news. It's not news, just an irritated Emerson mad that people aren't seein the obvious, when it really doesn't matter. I dunno, I'm kind of disappointed in Mugglenet over this.
lololololololol the book is going to do its thing with romance, so i think this TV guy should have considered the difference between the books and the movies...Point is, those 56% are most likely movie fans or something, cuz they are certainly ignoring poor JK rowling's quotes....
am I the only one who missed all of this? all of the excitement before the book is released, all the arguments, all the theories, everyone wants to be heard, everyone has something to say... some fans are very passionate, but others are just overeacting... c'mon guys... we ell have different points of view, and Emerson told you that the article expressed HIS opinion, and all of you should respect that....
I read that article but i don't think he is right about the scar being a horcrux. I know there are a lot of people that disagree with me but i know this is not happening. As for the H/H shippers, as Emerson said it at that time- DELUSIONAL. This is simply from people who think Harry=Dan Radcliffe and Hermione=Emma Watson. These two are the more famous actors and they want them to pair together without having ever read the books.
Ok, I read most of this Olbermann guys article (skimmed the rest) and his predictions were very mundane and lacked anything substantial. Mainly what he did was comment about things that had happened in previous books. The fact that he stated 'I know how Harry Potter ends' was absolute rubbish. He based everything on how if J.K. did 'this' than it would lose millions of dollars or if she did 'that', money would be lost here. Does he honestly think that after investing over 10 years of herself into this series, that she would end it merely the way that it would best boost the media. Honestly, stick to what you know, Olbermann, because you obviously don't know Harry Potter and you DEFINITELY don't know J.K. Rowling!

Well for the most part this theory is plausible and it IS obvious (no offence to you shippers) that Ron and Hermione are going to end up together, but Harry turning into a muggle ? That's a bit far fetched isn't it ? And J.K's already richer then the Queen ! Do you really believe that she's going to put her financial "risks" before Harry Potter now ?! And even if Harry does bite the dust (which i really, really, REALLY hope he doesn't) I'm still going to see the rest of the movies !!!
I think that emerson is right about the ron and hermoine match up but he is 100% wrong on the harry is a horcrux theory. Jk has already debunked this rumor. She said that this rumor was started by someones son that she knew. I guess the author of this article will have to pay attention more and read ALL of the jk rowling press realses before forming a theory that is incorect.
