Ugh! I'm kinda scared to even read the book cuz if Harry dies I'm gonna cry. Harry's had a hard enough life already so if he dies it'll be like pouring salt into a wound!!

I'm pretty sure she's referring to the fact that this is the final book, and, everyone, by now, has decided a way they think the series should end. However, the series will end by the hand of JKRowling, and no one else. Therefore, some will love it, and some will hate it. It just depends...I don't however think that she is referring to the fact that the deaths in the book are going to cause a massive uproar.

Hmm...you know, even if I didn't like the ending, I don't think I could ever HATE a Harry Potter book. It's JKR--the woman's a genius, and we finally get to see the way she intended it to play out. People can still always read and write fanfic if they're really not satisfied with DH. If there's one thing I "loathe," it's that the series is at an end...*sniff*...so, I'll still treasure DH, no matter who dies or what happens.

Also remeber that JKR did not say that the fans will loathe the plot, but "some people". That could mean anything. It probably has nothing to do with who lives and dies in the book. There are those small minded people who never read the book, but loathe it enough to burn it. So do not read to much into this.

Not that I don't think characters are going to die, but if Ciaran thinks that deaths are all that can inspire hate among fans, he's obviously forgotten the drama that went on with all the Harry/Hermione shippers who couldn't handle Jo confirming that Hermione will end up with Ron. That had nothing to do with character death, and if sending book jackets back to JKR as a sign of protest can't be classified as hate, I don't know what can. I agree with Emerson...Jo's comment could mean anything. And for the record, I can't imagine myself loathing the book, no matter how it ends.

Harry is sooo going to die, he's the only one on the front cover! And the person who dies is always on the front cover, Querill was on the cover of the first, the Basilik was on the second, Buckbeak (no one died but Buckbeak was sposed to die) was on the third, Cedric on the fourth, Serius on the fifth, Dumbledore on the sixth. HARRY only on the seventh. Unless tradition is wrong, Harry's gonna die.

Yes, I don't think Harry's going to die, either. By the way, isn't Voldemort on the cover, too? If the cover theory follows through, it could just as well be meant for him. Good point, s1pixie: the shipping thing also ticked off a lot of people. Hmmm, I wonder if JKR ever just sits down and laughs hysterically over how much people read into every ambiguous thing she says. :)

Hey guys..... I am re-reading HBP and I think I have found proof that Harry is not a Horcrux, which may help his chances of survival. On pages 503-513. Harry and Dumbledore discuss the possible 7 Horcruxes. Dumbledore mentions on the night Harry was to be murdered, Voldy was going to make his final Horcrux. Dumbledore explains that he failed. Dumbledore also states that the final Horcrux was made when he used Nagini to kill the old man at the beginning of GoF. Dumbledore also explains that the last part of Voldy's soul to attack is the one in his body, so Harry MUST live to fight that final piece.

I'm excited. I would love for a happily ever after ending. With Harry and Ginny together and Ron and Hermione together. And Voldy dead and the wizarding world at peace once more. But I don't control these things so what ever happens...happens. And I will deal with it. Although in my gut, I dont THINK she will kill Harry. But I am occasionaly wrong. :]

I don't really understand why people think Harry won't die. I believe he will. He has to in order to get rid of Voldemort. The best way to avoid having anyone else try to cash in on this phenomenon by writing their own Harry Potter books is to kill him off. Also, Jo has stated that she cried alot when she finished "Deathy Hallows" and that she will "miss Harry". I think it's obvious he will die and I'll be very surprised if he lives. The hero always dies in the end, doesn't he? Harry will be sacrificed in order to save not only all of Wizardkind, but the entire world.

i think she says people will loathe because it's the last one. there will be no more harry potter books. :( i loathe deathly hallows because of this.

I personally would be sadder if Ron or Hagrid died than if Harry died. I am actually expecting Harry to die. Besides, I like Ron and Hagrid better xP

Well here's hoping that Harry doesn't die coz I'll cry my butt off like I did during the 5th movie this evening but bring on the good stuff. Her books just keep getting better.

I really hope she doesn't kill off harry! Even if she does it'll be for a good reason e.g. to make an emotional impact/ make the story more intricate. It'll be an amazing book no matter what, i don't think it'll ruin it for ppl when ppl die, it'll be sad but if it's a part of the plot i'm sure there'll be a point to it... oooh i wonder of draco's gna die?

I don't believe Harry will die. I think the reason JKR believes some people with loathe it is because it WILL have a happy ending. The people who want Harry to die will loathe it.

I'm sorry I wanna say that I'll love the books even if Harry dies but I won't ... any other character I can (kind of) understand but there is no way that his death can be a good ending, no matter how well written and heroic ... this isn't Brad Pitts character in Troy it's Harry Potter I will be very disapointed if he doesn't survive(oh and him loosing his magic and living as a muggle is just as good so yeah not gonna happen)

I think what she means by some people absolutely loathing the book can be taken in two ways: It is either that Harry dies, and of course millions of fans don't want that and would hate it, OR it could be that Harry doesn't die because we know from watching debates and media stories that millions of fans think the only appropriate ending would be Harry dying. I don't think JKR would say a comment with such a meaning as that and mean for it to only be taken one way!!!! We know from experience that JKR doesn't say things unless she wants us to know before-hand!

well i don't want harry to die but that would be the best thing to happen. if you look at this way if she didn't kill off harry somone else could go and write other prequels and this would be extreamly bad for J.K Rowling so even though i never want Harry to die i think he will.

This doesn't mean anyone is dieing. It just means that some credits will think its bad. It is that way with every book. Some like it, some don't.

Well, i don't think this is proof that harry dies. just because she says some people will "loathe" it, it doesn't necessarily mean it's just because the main character will die. i mean, if your favorite characters are fred and george, and suddenly they get bumped off for no real reason other than to show the real nature of war or wutever, then you're going to really hate the book. muffins, i know a guy who's going to despise the book if harry's not a horcrux, snape is really evil, and dumbledore's really dead. oh, and something about aunt petunia being a horcrux, too... >rolls eyes< anyway, it could really mean anything.... they could just not like the book cuz of its plot...

Well, both Harry and Voldy-mort could die. The prophosy never said that wellVoldy-mort is laughing hystaricaly about killing Harry, Ron couldn't send a little Advada Cadavera at his back. Just a thought.

i really hope she doesnt kill off harry, hes my favorite character (after sirius, but seeing as hes dead...) i dont see how people could loathe the books, even if harry dies it will still be an amazing book to me, killing off harry would be like ruining the last hope of good, i mean, dumbledore was the onnly one You-Know-Who ever feared and now that hes dead, if harry dies (even if he kills You-Know-Who) it will seem like hope, love and good die with him.
