The Guardian reveals opening of Deathly Hallows?
With extreme caution for lack of authenticity, we bring you this article from The Guardian's online website. It holds, what they say, is the opening to Deathly Hallows dated October 23rd, 2006.According to their site, this small portion can be seen in video from the upcoming JK Rowling documentary we told you about a few days ago.
We've posted it in the black area below in case it is removed from The Guardian's website. Highlight in between the arrows if you wish to read.
-->'Chapter One. The Dark Lord Ascending. The two men appeared out of nowhere, a few yards apart in the narrow, moonlit lane. For a second they stood quite still, wands pointing at each other's chests: then, recognising each other, they stowed their wands beneath their cloaks and set off, side by side, in the same direction.
"News?", asked the taller of the two.
"The best," replied Snape.'<--
Please remember that it is still unknown as to whether or not this is real. Interesting, nonetheless. Thanks to everyone who e-mailed with the tip!
Emily's edit: I emailed Andrew saying I didn't think the excerpt was real. Here's why: There is a mixture of British/English grammar - the British spelling of "recognise" and the American use of "a few yards." There are also odd punctuation errors - a colon after "chest" and then ?", when only a question mark before the quotation mark would be used. Would Jo really make these errors? We'll find out soon.

here is the link to the epilogue and table of contents. http://www.kaos-krew.ne t/harry/you need to click each link to see them. I didn't read the epilogue. Just going by people here are saying about. it is bad and I hope is fake.
I'm just not going to go online anymore until the book comes out. After the HBP leak last time, you can never be too careful. It'll be fun to see if the first page is real, though.
Let us all remember that Sectumbumprahaha is also the one who said that a van was carjacked and that the robbers thought the books were useless, so they gave them to random people in the streets. -snickers-
I agree with Sakibou. The entire Epilogue was horrible, just horrible. If that is what she wrote, I'll jump off a freaking building. I refuse to believe that something as corny as that could be from a book I have waited 10 years for. If it is, I don't know what I would do with myself. Anyway, it has got to be fake. Too many unexplained issues.
I broke down and read it. . . . I hate myself. I wonder if it's still the first page, or if it's even real?
no spoiler can spoil my fun!!! only 5 days 2 go....all i can do is buy tissuses 4 my issuses ((if harry duz die)) and listen 2 MuggleCast
What HBP leak does everyone keep mentioning? The only thing I recall is someone saying that they knew Dumbledore was going to die, and anyone could have guessed that.
Sectumbumprahaha!!!! Would you answer me already??! are you a fu.cking liar or not?! You stupid dumba.ss cun.t. I swear to god if I ever find out who you are I'll gouge out your fu.cking eyes and cut off your tounge and let the god dam.n birds eat you you piece of sh,it
JKr doesn't really need to let us see or hear their children in the epilogue. Couples have children, it would be enough to say that they had some. Actually this epilogue reminds me of the one in Good Wives (sequel to Little Women). The whole point was to mention the characters children. Fine for that book but HP is a very different kind of book. Little Women after all was based on a whole family.
Trust me, I actually messed around with something like this by just transfering chapter pictures from books and recreating the text on photoshop. It was actually surprisingly easy. And yes, there are many spelling errors as well. BTW: When you're comparing two people only, it is "taller", not "tallest".
Hmmmm- very interesting. I don't have a problem with this being the beginning. Doesn't tell us much. Just gets us even more anxious!! Tick Tock...
See if you look at the scans you can see the words on the other sides of the page and the imprints, aww it IS REAL :( And I know people are desputing my arguments but I believe it is just because you dont want to admit it .
Couldn't help reading it, but it doesn't really matter. This is totally fake. I'm sure that wouldn't be the first page. I'm going to stop doing anything Potter-ish on the computer until I read DH(except checking the news on MuggleNet). I'm terrified of spoilers.
Yes the books were stolen. People here are of arabia descent and do not understand english and anywho, harry potter is considered the hethen here as well, it is not accepted for it political undertone. Yes it is the real thing. Ron and hermione go on to provide the so called happy ending everyone wants, they keep harry's memory alive for everyone.
UMMMMMMMMMMMM HAS ANYBODY FORGOTTEN THAT THE EPILOGUE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE IN THE FORMAT OF A NEWSPAPER......JEEEEEEEZE THIS IS DEFINATELY FAKE OMG PAY ATTENTION....JO CONFIRMED THAT ITS THE FORMAT OF A NEWSPAPER GOOGLE SEARCH IT IM SURE YOU WILL FIND HER SAYING HAT
O__O If that is the real epilogue, I WILL cry...but not out of sorrow. >_<
No she didn't. We decided that. This epilogue is probably fake though, but she never said it would be a newspaper article. It might very well be though.
People are right, it doesn't sound much like JKR's writing style. I WILL NOT read ANY more spoilers. NONE. And why is it up here, anyway?
Sakibou - The leak was yes that Dumbledore died but ALSO that SNAPE was the one to kill him. Thats too on the button to be thought as a lucky guess
how do I know your not lying? Im so mad... why the fu.ck did you say your not going to post spoilers and then post it...
hpfreak07: If Jo said that and it was confirmed to be true, I believe we would have heard something about it on Mugglenet, since it IS the world's best Harry Potter resource. -snuggles MN-
Sectumbumprahaha, why don't you just shut up? If the people in your country don't understand English, then how do you all know what happens in the book? And why would a truck be delivering books to people in a country who didn't want it? And Daleboy, of course you can see words behind it; this person probably Photoshopped a different HP book...or actually made their own. You'd be surprised at the lengths people will go through.
STOP POSTING SPOILERS YOU ARE KILLING THE BOOK FOR OTHERS!!!!!!!!! I dont know how to contact mugglenet can someone PLEASE contact Mugglenet and tell them to turn off the COMMENTS!!!!!!!!!!
I'm not sure... I'm leaning toward fake but I would feel like I had insulted Jo if it turned out to be real... I couldnt live with the shame!!!!! lol but really... I would feel horrible if I said it sucked too much to be Jo and it turned out to acctually be Jo... IDK... In this week approaching the release, I implore you to take to heart a quote by Ben Franklin (I think): TREAD LIGHTLY AND CARRY A BIG STICK!
I don't think it is, but if I'm wrong and that IS the epilogue, I'll be REALLY pissed off at JK Rowling for writing such a crappy ending. And the bad part is that I didn't even read the chapter - just the spoilers in people's comments!!! -_-
To read or not to read.... NOT TO READ. I've had to force myself into another room several times to keep myself from reading this. I accidently saw some of the comments and I guess it involves Snape. Darn. SPOILED.
I HAVE THE EPILOGUE! email me at theharrypotter_lover@yaho o.com if you was the jpegs!
I'm sure most of you know this already, but it doesn't say much. It's just a few sentences. Definitely gets the curiosity movin' though!!!!
Daleboy: So glad I missed that particular spoiler; I would have been DISGUSTED! However, this just doesn't seem real. At all. As soon as I get my book, I'm going to read the chapter titles and flip to the last page of the book to see what page it ends on. Then we'll see.
Beginning probably true or at least a pre - edited version. That epilogue, i figure it is fake.
>_< STOP IT! I'm tired of the swearing and the spoiling in comments (links are one thing, but screaming it out in the comment board is too far. People can walk right into them) and the all around bad attitude! I can't believe how high TENSIONS are! This is going from fun to flat out aggravating.
sweets7: I agree, I think the opening has probably changed by now or she decided to start with a completely different scene OR was fabricated, but the epilogue, from what I've read on the comments page, sounds fake. I don't know, though. WHY ARE YOU PUTTING POTENTIAL EXCERPTS UP?
Sectumbumprahaha- r u stupid???? "There's is no spoiler here ... I won't do that to you guys but he has read the book and harry indeed dies after snape" I THINK that's called a spoiler.....and that's the worst theory in the world.....and tell you're journalist "friend" to go die and spare us his/her theories as well.....can you're journalist friend read? yes u rote the quoted part on anotherr story and u suck on this comment too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!! SO Y DONT U JUST SHHUUUT UUUUUUUUUUUUUPP?????!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I posted this in the comments of the Librarians opening the boxes earlier in regards to Sectumbumprahaha, or as I like to call him, Sectumpoopoo. If he would have done his research properly, or any at all, he would know that the 21st is the release date for ENGLISH speaking countries only. Soooooooo..... unless I'm mistaken, Morrocco (or whatever place in Africa he said in this thread) isn't considered an english speaking country. Hmmmm.... interesting, eh?
Xceptional - EM dont read the comments then. God what do you expect us to be talking about. Sakibou 3: Look at the pictures again, the cover you can see on the book matches exactly the one that has been released. look at how some parts of it are creased slightly, there is NO WAY someone would be able to go into that much detail, NO WAY. And do flip to the chapter titles and that and then email me :P
SteffieSnape: Hahaha! You're absolutely right...xD
i dont want to believe anything that anyone says about what happens in the book! why does everyone want to spoil the surprise? its much more enjoyable if you find out by reading, not by someone telling you.
Before all you people hyperventilate and explode and disappear in a whisp of green smoke i want to say its my over stretched imagination at work here... So there, it makes for good reading tho.. We are all getting worked up n should get of this f site.... N i know it has no point now but the british embassy in morroca are getting books delivered.
moonshine: yes, I know, I read it and now I'm beating myself up, of course it doesn't give away anything, really, but surely there's some kind of ethics, given the tight security . . . ? Unless she's changed it.
Sakibou-have u read Sectumbumprahahas comment on the other news story? well here goes: There's is no spoiler here ... I won't do that to you guys but he has read the book and harry indeed dies after snape... apparently his journal friend has the book
Darn you MN!! This is the first thing about DH I've read. Ahh, I feel so guilty now. I seriously just stared at the blank space for like half an hour and highlighted it really quickly 10 times, until I read it.
wow, that gave a lot of info...not =P
Daleboy: They could have either printed off the cover and physically put it on a book, or the could have (as had been said) Photoshopped it, which is also a very realistic possibility. People have gone to all sorts of lengths, including writing up an ENTIRE book, to rile up the Harry Potter community.
I'M SO MAD. Wikipedia put an article up on who kills who and when I accidentally clicked on it it said that Bellatrix kills Ron or something! I x-ed out immediately. I refuse to believe it, though, because Wikipedia can be edited by anyone.
Please, can you not put spoilers (real or not) in your comments where anyone can read them?
That epilgue tells us nothing really. All happy, all lovely children, not terribly JKR
I'm wondering if the book publisher in cooperation with other involved parties might have put out bogus Deathly Hallows info after HBP had some leaked information (yes, it was leaked). This might be an effective way of protecting against spoilers. If you plant enough false information among the facts, it will throw a lot of people off.
y is everyone so mad aboout this spoiler when if u look at it, it gives away nothing unless it had more info
Scarface7: excellent point. I'm really hoping it's not real and my thought is, if it IS real, it's just a scrap of paper in a draft JKR discarded a year ago. Please, Mugglenet, don't post anyting else up for a while!!!!!
OMG Sakibou listen to what your saying. There is no way that a person could so realisticly create that NO WAY. the writing the style the cover THE DRAWINGS the chapter titles; BTW on another note i think its cool one of the titles i called the Wandmaker and I just clicked, for Harry to fight Voldemort one of them will need another wand right? I mean if not constant Prior Incantatum(sp) you know. I think thats quite cool (H)
