The Guardian reveals opening of Deathly Hallows?
With extreme caution for lack of authenticity, we bring you this article from The Guardian's online website. It holds, what they say, is the opening to Deathly Hallows dated October 23rd, 2006.According to their site, this small portion can be seen in video from the upcoming JK Rowling documentary we told you about a few days ago.

Emily's edit: I emailed Andrew saying I didn't think the excerpt was real. Here's why: There is a mixture of British/English grammar - the British spelling of "recognise" and the American use of "a few yards." There are also odd punctuation errors - a colon after "chest" and then ?", when only a question mark before the quotation mark would be used. Would Jo really make these errors? We'll find out soon.

Does anyone know what the Barnes & Noble reserve policy is? (I.e....is it too late?) Because of my friend, I have been unsure as to where I will be Friday night. Now it's settled, and I can go and reserve it tomorrow. Is it too late? Should I plan on crashing a walmart party instead?
I've not read, nor do I intend to read either the hidden text or any of these comments (past or future) regardless of the texts authenticity, but I do wish to say one thing: Anyone who did read the text must have the will power of a chocolate-bar-eating-mani ac. HONESTLY there's less than five days to go and you can't wait?

Erm.. hate to point this out chaps, but we've been using Yards in the UK for.. well.. centuries. Whilst the EU are trying to convert us to meters, most of the older generations are sticking with yards, so that can hardly be used as evidence that it isn't true.

I would bet my life that this is a fake job. Here is my proof. Every single book has started out with at least two paragraphs explaining what is going on and the setting. There has never been any Dialog on the first page. Why change it up now?
Everyone who is worried about reading it or not: IT DOESN'T SPOIL ANYTHING! Besides, it is fake....I really think JK would've gone into more depth of the scenario before immidiately skipping to the unusually "simple" dialect used for those characters...Highly, highly, highly doubt it is REAL, but if it is, no matter....Only made me more excited yet didn't reveal a thing: best of both worlds! :P.
Okay, halohunter's link looks pretty legitimate. I'd say that picture is the real deal.

This opening is real, folks. It matches up with the opening of over 400 pages photographed by someone who has the book. Can 400+ pages of JKR-like writing and unique chapter art be fake? Don't think so, somehow. It's real.
halohunter: I think you should stop posting the link to this supposed 'spoiler'. Even if it is real, you are doing the fans here a great disservice by ruining the final book for fans who have been reading for 10 years or more. That goes for the rest of you, too.

On halohunter's link we see that one character dies, but then the same character appears in the epilogue: this is impossible, so SOMETHING from that link HAS TO BE FAKE!!!

For those who are concerned that this link is 'legit' I found a site that has no spoilers, *but some harsh languages, so you have been warned. * but it involves a person who decided to print up the Deathly Hallows cover and use it to get Harry Potter fans thinking that he had an advance copy. somethign in halohunters link is fake......it says that someone dies but in the epilogue hes ALIVE so all that info about people dieng is fake.....or the epilogue is fake MOST likely the epilogue is real and all the stuff above it is fake^^

toast10: if you mean the person on the somethingawful forums, yes, that's what I was saying, that it's easy to replicate the book by printing the cover out, putting it around another Harry Potter book then photographing it, and then photoshopping pictures and words into the 'book'. Here is a link to someone who photoshopped something entirely different. An overweight woman to a skinny model. Personally I think that halohunters link does not reveal genuine information. Most of the chapter titles and plot ideas sound ike something out of a piece of poorly written fanfiction. Secondly the last time information about a book had been leaked (just before HBP came out) there was a surge of bets being placed on which character would die and they stopped people from making anymore bets. If halohunters link revealed genuine information the same thing would have happened again but as far as my knowledge goes nothing like that has happened yet.
look i think yo should all stop psting links coz its makin me nervous and sooner or later im going to break and go on one of them and i have NOT waited 4 years and planned to go and buy the book at midnite just to have it ruined by some stupid people who keep posting links to parts of the book!!!!!!!!!!SO STOP IT!!! I reckon Jo is completely pwning us all. she has set this whole thing up and then on sat or sunday when we all realise that it is fake she'll be like.."i completely pwned all of you"...dont you find it a little suspicious that all this security has been made and from the looks of it like 20 random people already have the book? shes probably got someone to write a fake one and set up all the pictures and stuff like that. Its the biggest release in like a long time, there is not going to be people posting hundreds of pages on the internet.

Arghh, well that comment ruins ONE of the huge death. Unfortunately it wasn't the death I was worried about. I was on facebook in a LOLCAT group, and the first image had both the deaths and who commits them... The other main death was the one I wanted to happen least of all... I am very angry that I can't even go to facebook (or mugglenet comments) without the book being spoiled. I managed to get to book 6 without it being spoiled, but unfortunately I've had the main deaths AND the ending served to me this time. Oh boy...
Jo said it herself that only two people have read the book entirely and thats her and her husband. Since security has been so tight around the book it seems very unlikely that half the book has been posted on the internet.
Security isn't as tight as you'd think. Just look at the picture on the front page. Librarians even HAVE PERMISSION to open boxes to catalog the books. Wouldn't take a very corrupt librarian to leak stuff.

i gave into temptation...thankfully it gave barely anything away and just left me wanting more...i was sooo annoyed deciding whether to read it or not lol
I'm not saying it's true... I'm just saying... I am very annoying that I found out this information and I PERSONALLY believe it's true. =P But yeah, in a way it makes me want to read it more. I just get this REALLY nice feeling in my stomach when I'm reading, the scene and setting are just right, and THEN I FOUND OUT WHO IS KILLED. If you know beforehand, you're expecting it and it isn't so emotional. (Though every time you see the killer with the killee, you read faster, sure that THIS will be the moment!)
Halohunter and my lack of self control just ruined book 7 for me. darn it, I really hope that link isn't true. Can someone remove that link so others aren't tempted?

I don't see the "yards" as being a problem Plenty of people in the UK still say Yards instead of metres - mainly the older generation
I'm really upset if the page was true. Do you think it is, or just someone's elaborate plan to upset a lot of people? I really hope it's the latter, and I'm clinging to the hope that the table of contents has 9 chapter titles instead of 8....that's my only hope.
