The Guardian reveals opening of Deathly Hallows?
With extreme caution for lack of authenticity, we bring you this article from The Guardian's online website. It holds, what they say, is the opening to Deathly Hallows dated October 23rd, 2006.According to their site, this small portion can be seen in video from the upcoming JK Rowling documentary we told you about a few days ago.
We've posted it in the black area below in case it is removed from The Guardian's website. Highlight in between the arrows if you wish to read.
-->'Chapter One. The Dark Lord Ascending. The two men appeared out of nowhere, a few yards apart in the narrow, moonlit lane. For a second they stood quite still, wands pointing at each other's chests: then, recognising each other, they stowed their wands beneath their cloaks and set off, side by side, in the same direction.
"News?", asked the taller of the two.
"The best," replied Snape.'<--
Please remember that it is still unknown as to whether or not this is real. Interesting, nonetheless. Thanks to everyone who e-mailed with the tip!
Emily's edit: I emailed Andrew saying I didn't think the excerpt was real. Here's why: There is a mixture of British/English grammar - the British spelling of "recognise" and the American use of "a few yards." There are also odd punctuation errors - a colon after "chest" and then ?", when only a question mark before the quotation mark would be used. Would Jo really make these errors? We'll find out soon.

I believe that part from the news article is real. I'm not sure about some of the rest of the posts. The other tall DE is probably the enormous blonde DE from the end of HBP. I believe Snape mentions the name in the chapter titled "Spinners End". There's really not enough there to spoil or give a critique. I bet Rowling would laugh her head off to read comments about poor writing style or that it is not her writing style, then then the excerpt turns out to be genuine.
I don't believe most of the BIG spoilers. It's obvious that the whole book hasn't been scanned or spoiled (yet). I think this simply because the big twists we should be expecting aren't there.
Yeah, that opening is real and you see Snape's allegiances immediately in the first 10 pages!!!!
OMG OMG OMG I NEED DH NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The opening does NOT reveal Snape's true allegiance. He could just be acting like in 'Spinner's End'.
SNAPE IS BAD this is a fake
omg......shoes..
Right ive read lots of these comments abotu the books and that link that apparently shows u the epilogue, it could be true but it can be easily faked by photoshop etc etc. We will find out in four-sh days if all these spoilers are real. me and my friend were tempted to read them but we held bak however sum1 i know has read pages and she ensures me that the epilogue doesnt sem like jkr, she said if it is real it aint tht good. I honestly cant wait for the book me and my friend are going at midnight yay will b fun
a few yards is an english phrase! i hate it when americans deem what is english and what isnt. i am english and use the phrase loads! i hope this is the opening. i like it. im so intrigued about it all. i dont think its fake if it is the one that was in the documentery, unless jkr herself wrote a fake one for the camera to see, which seems silly.
I don't know . . . it doesn't sound like JKR to me but who knows? I could be completely wrong. Technology makes it so hard for us to figure out what's fake and what's real . . . but we'll find out soon!!!!!!!!!
Im just wondering why there has been no denial if its not true?
This is definetly a SPOILER!!!! And they say Muggle net is a web free of spoilers right? Then I am the princess of Monaco.
Scarface-- It's not the blonde DE, one of his ricocheting spells killed him. His name is Yaxley, they have a picture that you can zoom in and read on one of the sites on the previous page (the actual spoiler site, not the proing how easy it is to photoshop site) of the first page of the book and it says his name is Yaxley. Nice name, right? *sarcasm*
There's been no denial because we'll find out in 4 days! Why should JKR take time out of a probably busy schedule to tell us something we'll find out in less than a week? Jo's life does not revolve around the spoilers that people in the comments section because she doesn't have time to address all of them and because half of what we've posted we already know is fake.
Has everyone finally left? Did you all actually listen to sense? If you're there, you are the MuggleNet fan(s) I thought you were. If you're not there, you aren't the fans I thought you were.
Eviegrl941, actually the blonde DE's spell kills another DE. Go back and read the chapter "The Phoenix Lament" where a description is given about this. The name you had is right . . . I just did not want to say is much. I believe there is a good essay out there about this DE. I just forgot where it was located.
Okay, cuz' I just found the site. DO NOT COPY AND PASTE IN URL BOX UNLESS YOU WANT TO READ THE (SUPPOSED) FIRST PAGE OF DH: http://xs217.xs.to/xs217/ 07291/IMG_3631.jpg
here's proof as to why people should ignore spoilers: http://img2.fr eeimagehosting.net/image. php?1d117ceaa5.jpg
You people must be very anti-social, sitting at your computers all day. I'm only here cuz' my friends are away.
I actually read it yesterday. That is how I figured out that the passage was authentic. An essay I had previously read made a connection between that name and the blonde DE. There were two others that Snape named in "Spinner's End" that also turned up at the castle. JKR made a pointe of referring to this DE numerous times. I wouldn't be heartbroken at all, though, if it turned out to be fake.
DON'T WORRY...halohunter's link is false on about every account...
IM TOTALY EXCITED ONLI 4 MORE DAYS WOOH CANT WAIT AT ALL SOUNDS BRILLIANT LOL WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH IM SO PROUD OF JKR SHES AMAZING AND SO SO SO RICH LOL I LOVE HERE AND ALL HER BRILL BOOKS FROM HPAPS TO HPADH EVEN THO I AINT READ IT UNTIL 21 LOL I REALLY CANT WAIT THE DAYS SEEMS TO BE DRAGGING ON DONT THEY LMAO ITS JUS A BI ANNOYIN WAITIN INI BUT OH WELL I WUD WAIT FOR EVER FOR THIS BOOK LOL I WAS SO HAPPY WHEN I FND OUT I CUD ORDER IT SO SOON LOL HOW SAD WAS IT ABOR DUMBELDORE I STILL CANT GET OVER SNAPE BUT I GESS IT HAD TO COME SOONER OR LATEY HAYY WELL INABI MUGGLES
the term "a few yards" is used in Britain (at least it is in the North West), the mis-use of the colon could be a grammatical error on the Guardian's part.
Eviegrl941, Antisocial would be the wrong diagnosis in the context you're using it. You are probably referring to Avoidant Personality D/O. A person can also become withdrawn due to depression or excessive anxiety. An antisocial (Antisocial Personality D/O) person would be using the computer to hack or send a virus. They don't conform to society rules. I believe what you see is an Adjustment D/O caused by anticipation of the release of Book 7. By definition, this should reconcile itself within six months after the Book's release.
OMG jonno2k8, breathe and go find your relaxation medicine. We all just need to breathe, even though there's only 4 days, 4 short days, left to go until the RELEASE OF DEATHLY HALLOWS. Maybe that's why she called it Deathly Hallows, all of us are going to have a heart attack and die once we get the book. Barnes and Noble parties start at 8 o' clock. Go a little later cuz' the party's boring 'til then, but if you go early, you can get a good spot in line. Just don't go at 3, that's obsessive, truely.
Scarface-- I'm not diagnosing anyone, I'm saying their anti-social, meaning they are not a social or people person, or they just don't like to hang out with other people. I'm not saying they're prone to delinquent activities or won't follow the rules, I'm saying they're anti-social. Everyone knows someone who's anti-social, and everyone uses that as an adjective. It's not a disorder. Did you look up "anti-social" on webMD.com? How do you know all of those supposed disorders? And WTH is "Adjustment Disorder"? Did you make it up or something?
I was trying at a little humor, but if you're interested, check out the DSM-IV for mental health diagnosis.
Oh thanks, now you're calling me mental! Great! *sniff sniff* JK! LOL!
We're ALL mental!LOL!
I don't think it's real. It doesn't sound like JK's writing.
Ha! I managed not to read the posts, I'm waiting. I allready acidentally read something very beutiful from the book and didn't know it, I can't wait to read it again but, I don't want to know any more till I have the book in my hands and my ears blocked!
Did JK actually ever say that the epilogue would be in book 7?
YEA yea you think it sounds fake, but this is real, I swear to god and to harry potter. I just got a copy of the book online, and just started reading it, and this is THE Opening to the book. *crawls into his hole to continue reading* Don't worry guys, I don't spoil :D
Seriously I wouldn't worry too much. If these spoilers were accurate, the publishers would have issued cease and desist orders to the sites owners. I know they already have to a few sites so the fact that these spoilers aren't being taken down, probably means they aren’t anywhere near the truth. I haven't read them; just skimmed an epilogue and that seemed ridiculous the more I think about it.
Here is the proof http://image.bayimg.com/f a/dm/ca/ab/o.jpg
i don't think it's real
http://image.bayimg.com/f a/dm/ca/ab/o.jpg Make sure there are no spaces.
Gingingerbread -- MuggleNet is free of public spoiler posts... They put it in the black text field so that you have to highlight it in order to read it and they warn you. Therefore, the space is free if spoilers unless you WANT to read it. And they warn you again in bright red letters that the comments may have spoilers and not to read them unless you don't care about what you read in the comments. If you ignore all the warnings and highlight the text or read comments that contain spoilers, you deserve to be spoiled.
How easy is that to fake. All someone would have to do is read the chapter title from the Guardian. You can't even read the text. It is just ridiculous; spoilers on a huge site like facebook; her lawyers would have a field day. They are very aware of the internet as it is even more prominant then it was two years ago. Just look at the amount of stuff you tube has to take down because of copywrite.
This is what JKR gets for giving Emerson that "delusional" interview. The whole internet is buzzing about Mugglenet giving out spoilers!
Aww there are so many pictures now :( It IS REAL :( I wish It wasn't Its my fault for reading it you know but still.. I wish I had waited HPDH = ruined
If there are real spoilers, they will start appearing a day or two before release, until then it is all just people taking advantage of the hysteria: posting fake spoilers, doing knock ups etc. I mean if you could and you wanted to see the hysteria it would cause on the internet, you would. The internet is a very different place, even then it was 2 years ago.
here is PROOF that the spoilers are fake. http://img2.freeim agehosting.net/image.php? 1d117ceaa5.jpg they're not real at all. so don't worry people. :)
The epilogue thing that was doing the rounds yesterday is the only thing I skimmed and I have read better fan - fiction. The epilogue will probably be similar but I hope at least that it will contain JKR wit. That piece seemed sanguine to the core. I was worried last night but now I just think oh god whatever, I doubt it is real; I doubt any publisher would have condoned that.
Sambo 60 your so full of sh.it like DH just fell into your hands with the greatest protection for a book release in the world. LOL i've seen better tricks at Halloween from a 4-year old.
Umm ok man. The pic I posted is one of about 500 in the file that I got. It is definitely not fake, and this opening to the book is definitely real. Sorry
can you give us all the link to the other 499 pictures then please?
OK Cliffy23. I don't like being callled a liar. Download and read at your own risk. ELIMINATE ALL SPACES IN THE URL http://rapidshare.co m/files/43179708/HP7-495. rar
Does it matter if it is, tells us nothing. How on earth would someone get the chance to photograph 5 hundred pages without being caught? It is probably all just crap. If you were going to photograph pages you would photograph the major parts before someone caught you and kicked your ass.
Sweets7, you have a good point. But I CERTAINLY did NOT do this myself. I wouldn't be that stupid even if I had access to the book. I am just sharing info that I found. That is all. And I don't think anyone would have the time or abilitiy to make a fake this good for so many pages, which leads me to believe that it is real. That's it :D
