The Guardian reveals opening of Deathly Hallows?
With extreme caution for lack of authenticity, we bring you this article from The Guardian's online website. It holds, what they say, is the opening to Deathly Hallows dated October 23rd, 2006.According to their site, this small portion can be seen in video from the upcoming JK Rowling documentary we told you about a few days ago.
We've posted it in the black area below in case it is removed from The Guardian's website. Highlight in between the arrows if you wish to read.
-->'Chapter One. The Dark Lord Ascending. The two men appeared out of nowhere, a few yards apart in the narrow, moonlit lane. For a second they stood quite still, wands pointing at each other's chests: then, recognising each other, they stowed their wands beneath their cloaks and set off, side by side, in the same direction.
"News?", asked the taller of the two.
"The best," replied Snape.'<--
Please remember that it is still unknown as to whether or not this is real. Interesting, nonetheless. Thanks to everyone who e-mailed with the tip!
Emily's edit: I emailed Andrew saying I didn't think the excerpt was real. Here's why: There is a mixture of British/English grammar - the British spelling of "recognise" and the American use of "a few yards." There are also odd punctuation errors - a colon after "chest" and then ?", when only a question mark before the quotation mark would be used. Would Jo really make these errors? We'll find out soon.

all i want to know is that the "epilouge" ive seen people posting spoilers of is fake thats it can anyone help me here without giving any info besides telling me the epilouge is fake and that it conflicts with the actual 495 pages of scans
JKR said no new characters will be in this book SyQo your a dumbas.s jeering_drip is talking about the epilouge and everything and how easy it is to make pages that look like ones from the book... thats all she was trying to say JJ171539 you stupid fu.ckin.g CUN.T shut your fuc.king face before I find out where you live and cut off your god dam.n fingers so you won't be able to type any more spoilers you stupid fu.ck anyone who WANTS TO READ THE SPOILERS DOESN'T NEED YOUR HELP ALL THEY HAVE TO DO IS GO TO THE MANY LINKS YOU'VE GIVEN THEM stop already!!!!! you fuc.king piece of shhh I can't stand this site anymore..
bringmethehorizon (and you've chosen a lovely name), I'd be more than willing to accept your description of me were you to point me in the direction of the piece of literature which states that Rowling would not be introducing a single new character in Deathly Hallows. As I said, if you'd be a doll and fetch that particular sliver of evidence, I shall concede to the perhaps already-fitting level of intelligence you've so surely pinned to my name...
SyQo um duh. this was just a picture of what could easily be done. that picture i posted was made within six minutes.
It's not real. The writing style is not at all like JK's, and she would have more description, not just say right away that it's Snape. This sounds like a kid attempting to sound smart on a school paper, and failing. *looks around* Would it be so embarressing if this quote turned out to be real???
Yes, jeering_drip, but because you posted it directly after my post, I was certain you were bringing it up to discredit the link I provided. I took offense to this because the pages on the site I supplied looked nothing like that. I, like most, firmly believe that that horrid excuse for the very end to this series was entirely faked. You, however, should take care to me more precise when you choose to play accusations, wrongly or otherwise...
I tried finding it but can't. I swear I read that somewhere.. I'll keep looking..
To all the people the book is on the internet I don't know how it got there with all the security that the publishers put into this but the book is online.....I can't wait until saturday when the book arrives through the mail so I'm having a look at the book right now. The book that is in the internet is the real deal...
There is absolutely no way she doesn't introduce any new characters. Are you kidding me? That's the funniest thing I've heard all day.
_magik_ you know whats the funniest thing Ive heard all day... is how fu,cking obese you are SyQo and no I can't find it.. and I give up to.. Im sure I just misread something...
And people, in the UK they use meters, not yards. And this book online thing? It's a really popular fanfiction, Is my guess. If stuff that big leaked, it would have been closed down. You've all read the articles, you know how careful they're being about this new book.
Is it in your agenda, then, to recall your absurdly inaccurate opinion of me, or will you be so proudly letting it stand? On a side note, you must tell me what sort of power you have that enables you to determine a person's size simply through reading their comments; no matter the event that made it possible, I must say, utterly breathtaking, your abilities...
bringmethehorizon thank you. SyQo who said I was directing that link to the pictures you provided? However I don't believe your pictures are real as well. I'm sorry but unless Rowling went back to middle school, that is not her writing.
lol its the real book guys....... so is the whole book online now or what??
SyQo I wasn't calling you a dumbas.s for the new character thing I did because of the thing jeeringdrip posted... so no your not a dumbas.s... Actually I am bahahahah anyway oh yea thanks for that I agree (; I don't think you have a sence of humor I was kidding... can you tell me this? ok in the spoiler I read it said that ron, lupin, percy, voldemort, bellatrix and snape die... is that the thing that you're reading? don't tell me you dies just if its not the real thing though.. Im just trying to find out if the spoiler I read is the real thing... since obiously the books been leaked.. :[ but yea... oh and sorry for calling you a dumb.ass :[
bringmethehorizon- There was no rudeness intended there, though there is now when I say- learn to spell, get a life, work on your swearing; maybe only once or twice a sentence? If it's not too much to ask.... Btw-tonight your inner eye is clouded, it seems. Despite the unique wording of my comments, I am not, in fact, obese. SyQo-Thanks for your support!
actually _magik_, people have commented that live in the UK and they said they do in fact use yards and forgive me if im wrong, but arent feet also not part of the metric system? because Jo has CLEARLY used the feet in her books before
_magik_ I know how to spell I just make a lot of typos. I will admit I suck at grammer(sp?) LOL I JUST CONTRADICTED MAHSELFF bahaha Im a retard... anywayyyyyy ok you know what I was kidding take a friggen joke goooosh Im suprised how offended you get by someone over the internet... seriously
jeering_drip, you're connecting two unrelated things; you cannot determine the accuracy of the PHOTOGRAPHS based on what you believe is Rowling's WRITING STYLE. I'm asking you, can you find an inconsistency in any of the images? I've done every test I know on many of them to look for tell-tale signs of Photoshop work and I've yet to find one; no repeated pixel patterns for the background of the pages, no inaccurately placed shadows, nothing of the sort, so again, I am asking, where is the inconsistency in the photographs. If none can be spotted, does it not follow that they are authentic photos? I've responses to all three of your statements, _magik_: You're quite correct that the British use meters instead of the imperial system, but that is only when in the context of numbers, such as in mathematics or on road signs. In describing a scene in a novel, however, how out of place does meters sound, you know? "appeared out of nowhere, a few meters apart" Doesn't it sound awkward? Well, that is precisely why Rowling avoided that particular usage. As to your second, the images I have posted at Early Hallows (earlyhallows . mypressonline . com) are not from the excellent work of fanfiction entitled "The Seventh Horcrux," though I do recommend that as a read; it's quite good. And to your last, the security is really not as terrific as you might think in the case of small libraries. The ninth news post down on MuggleNet's main page clearly depicts this, so a leak was inevitable.
Btw-tonight your inner eye is clouded OMGAHHH HOW DID YOGUI NO!!>11!!?! http://adweek.blogs .com/photos/uncategorized /mcdonalds.JPG are you getting hungry?? magik HAHHAHA
ok well now that ive had quite a few deaths ruined for me because of certain dickheads on these comments, i think its time to leave these comments thanks morons
dumbledoreISdead read the text IN RED IMA GO NIGZZ
yea well it was spoiled for me BEFORE the red text is there and just because the red text is there doesnt mean its ok to be a big idiot and run around posting unnecessary spoilers because you think your cool and want attention a$$hole
Hi everyone, I was just navigating thru a webpage, famouse for downloads and I found a copy of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, it is hard to read because the pages are photos taken to the book, but I can say it is real, it even shows the hole book. And the spoiler shown at the top by mugglenet, is true, it really starts like that, just checking it up, but I prefere to wait to read it on my Deluxe copy I already pre-order, hope the book story is not spoiled on the net. But just to say it is a terrible thing, even with all the security there was, the book is already on the net!!! Sincerly, Fl or Silva (Mexico)
AHHHHHHH I'm so excited! This made me so excited when i read it i freaked out! Our borders is hosting a "Grand Hallows Ball" and I'm so Excited! wowowowowow! 5 days!!!!!!!!!!! -savah na P.S. The "Ministry of Magic" Rocks! go here to here there music! http://profile.mysp ace.com/index.cfm?fuseact ion=user.viewprofile&frie ndid=158059699
SyQo.. I posted that link before I even realized you posted those pictures. That post was there to show that most of the spoilers on here are fake. The problem I had with your pictures were not the pictures themselves but the words written in the book. I don't believe it is actually the 7th book.
I think the only odd thing about your pictures, SyQo, is that its not a clear picture. It looks like a few clear pictures taken into photoshop and put together to make one whole picture. I know it does that to me sometimes when I work with photoshop or paint. When I save the finished product it gets somewhat pixilated.
Yes, I'm aware of that, jeering, but don't you realize that if the pictures are real the text must be real as well?
Not necessarily.
Well, yes, actually. Think about it intelligently for a brief second. If these are untampered photographs of book seven, then the text is untampered, as well...
Okay first of all, you have no proof that these are untampered pictures. Plus how do you know that the text written in this book is actually the text in the actual seventh book?
I hate to impune, but now you're being a fool. It logically follows that if these are REAL pictures of the seventh book, then the text in them is real. That is naught but basic logic. As to how I know that they are untampered pictures, however, I have nearly ten years of experience with computers under my belt, six with creative photography, and I know how to determine a Photoshopped graphic. As I mentioned a few posts up, I ran a pixel pattern repetition test on most of the pages. You see, if they were simply taking a single picture of the book and replacing the text on the page with their mock version of the seventh book, the background of all the pages would have the same pattern of pixels. I s'pose it helps to tell you that, in the world of computers, those pages are not just black and white; there are, literally, thousands of colors on the page that one would believe is white. Well, one of the tests I ran proved that the pixel pattern on each page is different. This, at the very least, proves that each picture of the book is different.
people listen to e.. so WHAT IF ITS REAL???? just dont read it and stop getting upset and youll just read the actuall thing in like 4 days not much of a wiat so what exactly are you trying to prove by saying ove rand over again that its photosho photoshop.. and people i would appreciate it if you please didnt keep posting the links. if you didnt post the links then maybe this war of real/not real can stop. just tell this link to your friends or like myspace, not on here cause alot of people would kill the person who let the name of ONE person that died.... but ya than you everyone and trust me if we all just keep to ourselves we will ALLL be ok till the book comes out, when it does do alll the postings u guys want. its as simple as that. lol this war reminds me of the war thats going on in harry potter... haha... lol "the deathly hallows war" or "war of books begins.." lolol
that's bs. there are so many mistakes it's not even funny. also, the writing style is completely and utterly different from JK's. nice try, but I'll pass.
Haha I like you. I'm just pointing out that I'm not convinced that your pictures are real. You can say that you have 20 or 30 years of experience with computers but that still proves nothing. I do realize its a lot harder then it would seem to fake these kind of pictures. I personally believe the pictures could be real but the book itself is not.
people i am not 'acusing' anybody! its just that i have waited too long for this book and to have it spoilt before i have the hard copy in my hand.....i DONT THINK SO! and btw there are plenty of fan fics which are well over four hundred pages! so this is my comment. for those of you who havent read the 'story' congratulations because you have been able to with hold your emotions and come saturday....you will be rewarded! it is only four days to go so keep waiting! four days is not a terribly long time to wait! besides if it was real i believe that it would have been taken off of the internet the day it was put up!!!!
dumbledoreISdead you know the danger if your willing to risk it then don't blame anyone it clearly says SPOILER WARNING
Is that so, Black_Jade? If you'd be so kind, point out ONE fallacy in ONE of the photographs, won't you? And all this nonsense about this not being her writing style needs to end at once. The following is an excerpt from page seventy-three of the American edition: "Hagrid staggered to a chair and sat down; it collapsed beneath him. Ignoring his mingled oaths and apologies, Harry addressed Lupin again." Now, this question is directed to those that do a lot of reading: can you name one author, aside from Rowling, that would have used oath there rather than something to the effect of "I swear." I read quite a bit and I honestly can't remember seeing that anywhere else...
People don't be stupid. Its the real thing there is no way you can deny it. Your all going to regret it after you read the book. Your going to be like it was the real thing and Im an idiot. :[
Black_Jade 18 I AGREE
I'm not trying to be a jerk or leak it but if you wan't the photo here's at least an alternate link: http://img515.im ageshack.us/img515/9733/i mg3631ws5ux4.jpg
FIRECROTCH FIRECROTHCH!!
The only reason why I think that this might be the real thing is because neither JK Rowling or her publishers have issued a statement that it is bogus.
Now SyQo. how would "i swear" fit into the context of that sentence?
Alright, SyQo, since you asked to be directed to a mistake in one of the photographs, I'll do so. Pg. 125, "Hermione Jean Granger." Unless I'm mistaken, her middle name is Jane, and not Jean. I know that the early copies of the books have had spelling errors in them before, so it's not entirely impossible that this is merely a typo on JKR's part. It just seems odd that her editors/husband wouldn't catch it. I caught it immediantly, so I would assume that they'd be a tad bit better than I am when it comes to noticing mistakes. That being said, I'm still undecided as to whether or not this is real. It seems like too much effort was put into it to be fake, but that doesn't mean it's not possible. Some people do have too much time on their hands.
soooooooooooooooooooooo fake
I don't think that the excerpt holds is an actual one. I don't think that JKR would make those sorts of grammatical errors, and even if one sneaked past her, I am sure that the 7th book has been read by her editors enough times that they would catch those mistakes. Furthermore, the writing style seems to simplistic to be JKR's, as she evolves into a better writer with every book she writes. I can't wait until Friday when I can read the opening chapter, though! I've got the whole day reserved to read the book!
Well, Yoshi, if I may, your intelligence is quite faulty if you don't realize that issuing an oath and saying "I swear" are the exact same thing. Alas, felin, it seems you may have indeed spotted a flaw in the TEXT of the book, but I was hoping somebody would be able to spot falsification of the photographs, because -- as anybody with the very slightest understanding of logic would be able to conclude -- if the photographs have not been tampered with, then neither has the text on the pages, making them the real thing. My challenge still stands, I believe...
I believe, in Yoshi's case, he was substituting "I swear," for "oaths," which, if you read it like that, wouldn't make much sense. So, Yoshi, to answer your question, it would fit in, but you'd need to rearrange the sentence. On the subject of the photographs, I'm going to have to agree with SyQo on this one. If the photographs weren't messed with, then the text obviously wasn't either. I'm still a bit confused as to how "Jean" could've slipped by unnoticed, this being the last book and all. I don't think JKR has made typos regarding character names since the third book where she spelt Dumbledore's name with an f, and even if she had [in the seventh book], her editors being as good as they are, would [or should] have caught it... I suppose all these questions will be answered in just a few days, elimanating the confusion on this subject soon enough.
eliminating*, that is.
