The Guardian reveals opening of Deathly Hallows?
The Guardian reveals opening of Deathly Hallows? With extreme caution for lack of authenticity, we bring you this article from The Guardian's online website. It holds, what they say, is the opening to Deathly Hallows dated October 23rd, 2006.

According to their site, this small portion can be seen in video from the upcoming JK Rowling documentary we told you about a few days ago.

We've posted it in the black area below in case it is removed from The Guardian's website. Highlight in between the arrows if you wish to read.

-->'Chapter One. The Dark Lord Ascending. The two men appeared out of nowhere, a few yards apart in the narrow, moonlit lane. For a second they stood quite still, wands pointing at each other's chests: then, recognising each other, they stowed their wands beneath their cloaks and set off, side by side, in the same direction.

"News?", asked the taller of the two.

"The best," replied Snape.'
<--

Please remember that it is still unknown as to whether or not this is real. Interesting, nonetheless. Thanks to everyone who e-mailed with the tip!

Emily's edit: I emailed Andrew saying I didn't think the excerpt was real. Here's why: There is a mixture of British/English grammar - the British spelling of "recognise" and the American use of "a few yards." There are also odd punctuation errors - a colon after "chest" and then ?", when only a question mark before the quotation mark would be used. Would Jo really make these errors? We'll find out soon.

I wholeheartedly agree with your last statement, Xeiros...

Posted by laurensquodge Jul 17th 2007

ive read a lot of these comments. why is everone gong on links to read the book. most of the comments hav been about whether they are real or not. Im not really bothered if they r really. We WILL FIND OUT IN THREE DAYS , CANT YOU WAIT THAT LONG!!!!!!!!!anyway people want to read the book themselves so people shudnt spoil wats gunna happen by putting info bout it on the site, arghhhhh .

Posted by SyQo Jul 17th 2007

Just in case the aim of your statements includes me, laurensquodge, I've made absolutely certain that I did not ruin anything for anybody. In creating Early Hallows (earlyhallows . mypressonline . com), I was only hoping to give impatient fans of Rowling's incredible series the chance to read the first ten chapters of the book. It isn't the fact that people can't wait, it's the fact that there's no need to -- at least for the first ten chapters. Anyhow, if your missive was directed at those directly posting spoilers and not those posting links, disgregard this message entirely.

Where can I find the next pages after page 495? thanks!

Posted by T0rNaD0 Jul 17th 2007

Yeah if anyone knows from 495 forward please post the link here

Does anyone here have all the chapters after chapter 10. I only have chapters 1-10. Please post them hear if you have them. Also to the idiots who keep saying don't post spoilers don't post spoilers did you read the red message on the top of this page. They are basically saying we can post anything we want to. Even as someone who has not read past chapter 10 it is pretty obvious that harry survived because it would have leaked out by now and everyone would make a big deal. The people who have read the book can you say whether peter repayed his life debt before he strangled himself to death. Also did ron really die?

Posted by halohunter Jul 17th 2007

Start reading the book from the start here: http://bayimg.co m/album/MAaaHaAAb Firs t 195 pages of it anyway. It could be fake, but it does coincide with this news post and I doubt someone would go to so much trouble.

Posted by kprestonbrgs Jul 17th 2007

i find it really worrying that none of the publishers nor JK or her reps are denying that this book is real. we know she watches some forums, she must have seen the links... I do hope that the book which has been photographed is fake if only due to the epilogue...but if its real then I guess I am lucky to have read some of it already. As for typo's I am sure that when Harry turned 17 he was said to be greatful that his Trace had been lifted - surely trace would not be capitalised. on a separate note, being British I thought I should mention that although I am 19 and was brough up after the metric system was introuced I mand everyone I know describe myself as for example 5ft2 and use yards / miles when referring to roads, metres when refereing to dimensions e.g rooms. All british road signs give distances in miles so it does fit to say someone was travelling a few yards.

I just hope that Ron and Hermione have a chance to be a couple before everything goes down.

Posted by Regulus_Black Jul 17th 2007

It's so sad, really, how some of you people can't wait just three days to read the book proporly, and feel the need to spoil it for others too. It's really immature and quire pathetic that you can't wait only three days.

Posted by AnyaMarcos Jul 17th 2007

NO SPOILERS! DO NOT POST SPOILERS!

Posted by awaitingthe21 Jul 17th 2007

3 days!

Posted by JJ171539 Jul 17th 2007

Regulus_Black and AnyaMarcos are you two the only dumbasses on this website who have not read the red message above. If you actually read it you would know that it says we can post spoilers from the book. If you don't like it then get the fudge off the website already. I am tired of assholes like you guys.

Posted by BurntFlower Jul 17th 2007

Oy, Xeiros, that's not very nice. I feel bad for people who read your comment, since those spoilers are real...

Posted by Regulus_Black Jul 17th 2007

JJ171539, the message isn't very hard to miss, so obviously I did read it. I'm not saying you're not allowed to - I'm just saying that I find it pretty sad that you feel hte need to spoil the book for yourself when you just have to wait three days. It's pointless.

Posted by JJ171539 Jul 17th 2007

Hey burnt_flower you dumbass did you read my post above. Why can't you idiots understand that we can post spoilers because the red message above says that we can. Let me guess you guys cant read can you

Posted by BurntFlower Jul 17th 2007

Don't you call me a dumbass, you asshole, I didn't read your message.

i sent in a news story 2 mugglenet sayin tha scholastic were lukin the identity of the people whu put these pics on da internet, so then they must b real & the article also said tha all the pics were 2 b take off the internet immediately so all the pics must b real

Posted by SPSqum Jul 17th 2007

Haven't read this in case it is a spoiler, but interesting to point out that the phrase "a few yards" is a commonly used expression in Britain. Britain is still largely imperial in it is usage of measurement etc (road signs are in miles, not kilometres).

Posted by SyQo Jul 17th 2007

I shall address each of you in turn. Up first, Regulus Black. Listen, if you are aware that you are in possession -- material or electronic -- of the seventh book a few days prior to its release, it is not pathetic to begin reading it; it is actually quite logical. Why wait three days for something you want when it is available in the present. This is akin to me telling you that you have the option of receiving twenty dollars today or three days from now. Being a logically sane person, the difference between the two should be glaringly obvious. JJ171539, I fear you are a complete idiot that has allowed said condition, unfortunately, to spread to those around you: "...and details from Deathly Hallows may be posted here..." That is not encouragement, you baboon, it is a warning! And, BurntFlower, while Xeiros' move was definitely a bit rotten, your mentioning it and stating it to be true only furthers his intention...

Posted by BurntFlower Jul 17th 2007

@toast10. They are real, though I have no clue who was the person who posted the scans.

Posted by toast10 Jul 17th 2007

BurntFlower- i dnt now if they are real r nt being frm the Uk i dnt now wot the inside of the US copies r like, have u read any of them yet?

Posted by BurntFlower Jul 17th 2007

@SyQo. You're definitely right, I realize my mistake now. @toast10. Yes, I have read it but not in its entirety.

Posted by mrkurzer Jul 17th 2007

You know, it's not really "spoilers" if you're reading the book as it is written. It's just an early look. :)

Posted by SyQo Jul 17th 2007

BurntFlower, thank you for seeing it as such. mrkurzer, you're all too right in that respect. If anybody is interested in reading the first ten chapters, they're displayed in an interactive, albeit basic, format at Early Hallows (earlyhallows . mypressonline . com), with zoom capabilities for easier reading...

Posted by toast10 Jul 17th 2007

i think the site im on pics of the bk is fake theres a park were hermione says harry looks so much tastier

Posted by JJ171539 Jul 17th 2007

Posted by toast10 Jul 17th 2007

Posted by BurntFlower Jul 17th 2007

@toast10. Actually, that excerpt you're reading is very real.

Posted by JJ171539 Jul 17th 2007

Well obviously toast10 that is what JKR would call her for short there is nothing wrong with that.

Posted by kmary77 Jul 17th 2007

Someone please explain this to me- IF the rumors are true and Ron dies, then how can he be in the Epilogue?

Posted by toast10 Jul 17th 2007

JJ171539- wel then y in bk 6 did J.K. write the full name?? puzling stuff, puzling stuff.

Posted by HorcruxHunter777 Jul 17th 2007

Ok...this is my first comment on this subject. I was reading this site>>>http://www.zendurl .com/hallows/

Posted by AnyaMarcos Jul 17th 2007

Your mother doesn't love you, JJ171539 .

ht tp://www.latimes.com/tech nology/la-fi-potter17jul1 7,1,7095221.story?t rack=rss& ctrack=1&cset=true /// No spoilers in this link ~ it's an article about Scholastic obtaining a subpeona to find the individual responsible for originally posting the pics of the book. Just a bit of cautious advice to anyone who has the pictures re-posted on their websites: I'd get them down before they expand their search .... it's a copyright issue and you could be held liable.

Posted by HorcruxHunter777 Jul 17th 2007

i think the stuff on the link i posted 3 comments ago is fake. too many contradictions. ron dies, but is in the epilogue. The DHs is a childrens story, but Harry and LV fight ON the DHs, like it is a graveyard like the cover depicts

Posted by RH_SHiPPER Jul 17th 2007

I dont want to reveal the website, nobody can even access it however without personal recommendation and even then its difficult.. But they got a copy of the book and took pictures of 400 pages of it. They will not do that to the ending however, for fear of it being leaked or ruined for others which is good, I have only read a couple chapters and there is no mistaking this is the real deal... very good! .. and I assure you, what mugglenet posted as the first paragraph is indeed the 1st paragraph...

Posted by buckbeak7 Jul 17th 2007

This is completely fake. Jo doesn't have that sort of writing style, and that doesn't sound like something that she would name a chapter...

Posted by BurntFlower Jul 17th 2007

@buckbeak7. Sorry, but it's real. @RH_SHiPPER. Actually, the whole book is now online, not only the first 400 pages.

Posted by Mrs_Sirius_Black_18 Jul 17th 2007

hey JJ171539 you are so messed up in the head why don't you go to rehab but you should really stop calling people dumbasses and assholes

Posted by Mrs_Sirius_Black_18 Jul 17th 2007

ok maybe i was a little harsh about the rehab thing but you should lay off the cussing!!!!

Posted by SyQo Jul 18th 2007

How funny is this, though? You've all been criticizing this work as fake and it just so happens that it is in fact the real thing. I find it quite hilarious. "This is something a child could write..." Oh, the comedy of it...

Posted by SyQo Jul 18th 2007

It really is a great read, though...
