Keep telling yourself that hallowsaint 1: I'm not sure how much you know about the legal system but I can tell you one thing, the law makes it very, very, very, hard for someone to find out who you are over the internet. If someone posted a fake scan of DH then they aren't breaking any laws because it's fake and neither Scholastic or JKR owns the rights to it. For them to have got that subpoena they had to prove that they owned the rights to it.

Does nobody understand that for all the websites that post stuff about books and mainly stuff about Harry Potter all signed an agreement to keep spoilers off of their website and that's why there was a subpoena. It was because of an infringement of an agreement/rights and so when they posted that this was the real thing when it probably wasn't they were committing either infringement or infringement and fraud.

Isn't a bit of an almost religious affair? Let's face it 9 out of ten novels I bought were after reading a revieuw in the paper or on the net. It got me a general indication of what to expect. It's all part of the big hype we the fans have created around this and in which Rowlings plays her part with great skill. And why; wether or not we know what to expect we are gonna buy the book anyway, 2 milion preorders at Amazon.... don't think those get cancels because there has been spoiling, Just because this overhype beliefe that no info may be leaked before July 21th it creates partycrashers who want to spoil. The more sensitive we all behave towards spoilers the more fun those idiots have. Whose are the idiots anyway. The ones who que up with earmuffs in midsummer at midnight or the ones who yell: "Snape kills Dumbledore." This kind of idiocy from both sides made me avoid Harry Potter till a few months before HBP was released. OK once I read one book I was sold . I am a fan too, I make HP-"ART", I write fanfic ( badly) I go to conferences, I browse about 7 HP sites daily. BUT I DON'T MAKE IT A REGILION. btw the biggest spoilers are we ourself to ourself: at saterday night we all gonna rush tthrough the book, with or without peeking at the last page. And as soon as we know what's gonna happen and how it ends..........only THEN WE START READING.

If I write a story and try to pass it off as somebody else's work, then it is FRAUD and I will be taken to court. Using any of the names in HP is FRAUD - so it doesn't mean that any of it is true. On another site I read that the 'scans' now in circulation are of a fanfic book that was on the internet MONTHS ago, but they have since added scans of the cover to give it a more reaslistic touch. So take everything with a large dose of scepticism.

There are people saying the scans are real and other people say they're fake - we'll find out the truth on saturday, I still have a little hope left that it's a fake. But people who want to spoil the fun for the fans really suck, imagine someone doing that about a book or a movie you like.

I got camera picture version of the book yesterday when it came out it's definetly real. It's her writing style and all the illustrations look exactly like Mary GrandPré's illustations. The font is right and it's an actual book that was photographed, not a photoshop. That they are taking legal action just confirms it's real. If you look at the pictures you can tell right away, that they are real. Anyway to people saying it's not her writing style you probably only saw the epilogue, which I admit is pretty sucky and feels totally wrong. The rest of the book is up to par though and is simply awesome.

@Belsito. I have read that fake story that was actually a fanfic which of course was fake, but these scans are actually very real. They are photographs of the book complete with MaryGrandpre illustrations of every single page and chapter, and when you read it, you'll know JKR has written it.

FYI- Copy right laws are like Macy's selling a purse that looks exactly like and called Coach purse but it really isn't filiated (SP?) with that company. You can't make up your own product and call it something that is alreay out there. I also know that it's not very hard to find out who someone is on the internet especially if Bloomsbury saw this particular spoiler on a well known website and so all Bloomsbury has to do is to ask this website for the user that goes under that login name and they can get it. First obviously they don't have to be real scans to have a subpoena ordered on this person. All there has to be is an infringement of rights or the proof of fraud.

my friend told me the ending of HBP and i was so ANNOYED, but shes my friend so i had to forgive her lol. ANYWAY, trust me people the "spoilers" are too amateur to be real. Honestly, i could have written better. the reason that the spoilers have been taken down is because fraud has been committed, not because they are real. if they were real, the guy would have been arrested and asked exactly where he got the book from. you see?

I totally agree with Tonks1975. There are so many darn spoilers out there that the people who put them up are combating with the others who are trying to ruin the book for all of us. I have faith that these are fake spoilers. I read through most of the spoilers and some are soo far fetched and don't even sound even remotley like JKR's writing. Come Saturday, we will see.

spew07... if you found the ones on the japanese website they are fake. The ones on uTorrent are also fake. As are the ones I have found on Limewire. I reported the fakes to scholastic and bloomsbury even though they were obviously not real, just because they used to authors name, which attributed to their pitiful writing should be punishable by law! The real spoilers were in text form, not scanned photos, so if you saw the digital photos of each set of pages, trust that those were FAKE and don't worry, that story is really far from what will come to pass as the real book seven! I have way more failth in Jo to write us a better book then that garbage!

Fraud had to have been committed because if it had been the real thing then obviously this guy would have had to open up a box with the 7th book in it and that's another infringement on the author's/publishers' rights and this guy would have like a $200,000 fine, not just being banned from a website.

Well, I'm treating it as fake - I wouldn't put it past people to come up with a really great scam to create mayhem.
