PRESS RELEASE:
Scholastic has recently learned that some individuals have received copies of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows through the mail , beginning on Tuesday, July 17th, as a result of a breach of the on-sale agreement by the distributor, Levy Home Entertainment, and shipments made by DeepDiscount.com, a customer of that distributor. We are taking immediate legal action against DeepDiscount.com and Levy Home Entertainment. The number of copies shipped is around one one-hundredth of one percent of the total U.S. copies to go on sale at 12:01 am on July 21st.
We are also making a direct appeal to the Harry Potter fans who bought their books from DeepDiscount.com and may receive copies early requesting that they keep the packages hidden until midnight on July 21st.
Scholastic is especially grateful to the other retailers and distributors for their careful attention to keeping the books secure until the release time and for planning thousands of spectacular midnight parties where fans will celebrate together. And we ask everyone, especially the media, to preserve the fun and excitement for fans everywhere.
The fans themselves have made it abundantly clear that they are looking forward to going to the midnight parties, receiving their very own copy of the book and finally getting to read the book they have so anxiously awaited.

That's just sad
6th? when did they SEND the books to them? i'm still worried about that epilogue that i got spoiled with
good for them, i hope those people get what they deserve.
wow this is sad
top 10? GO SCHOLASTIC!
Those people are so annoying! Trying to get everything for themselves.
Great, I don't want them spoling anything for me.
good
I wish I ordered from them... also can someone please remove the comments that say only 1st in them I mean at least make a comment.
WOO HOO! top 10! CHEESECAKE!
Sweet! Glad to see something done. Top 10?
This was covered on the news last night (see scan below): http://img204.im ageshack.us/img204/709/sa turdaynightliveyo0.png
#2 not soo bad..... stupid spoiler people. why would you do that to HP fans?? its cruel. i hate you but good job for catching!! :)
I hope these retards are sued for every cent they're worth.
im glad they caught them there might be less spoilers hopefully. 2days 2 go :)
The people who keep on saying" 1st? 2nd? 3rd?...", need to cut it out. This isn't a flippin contest on who posts the fastest, a lot of us are on edge right now, and looking at your numbers game sure doesn't help.
I'm so proud of myself for not reading a single spoiler or leak! I'm saving the magic until midnight no friday! xD
WOW...that is A LOT of copies!!! Lol but this always happens before the books release...i'm scared something huge is going to get leaked out and spoile everything.
first of all-- it's not the people who got the book's fault-- they ordered it from those places expecting it to come on the 21st. it's the distributers fault for sending them early. in my opinion, this is actually good news, because it means that it is much less likely that the 'spoilers' that had leaked any time before tuesday probably aren't true
This is a good thing that's happening! It's great to see Scholastic finally doing something about it, but the one thing I don't understand is why the people that already recieved the book get to keep it if they keep it hidden. I mean seriously if you had book 7 hidden under your bed for instance I don't think it would be there for long.
Ultimately this leak occurs after the original epilogue and full book scans were posted, so this does not coincide with the full leaked copy. Therefore we still have to approach it with a grain of salt, especially given what Jo said on her website.
what?!?! one thing i don't like more then spoilers are people who think they have been spoiled when you can obviously tell its fake.
ackermaniv, I agree that it's not their fault, but they didn't have to go flashing it around everywhere on the internet.' but yeah, no more spoilers!! yay!
So than the spoilers are real? How do we know which ones are real or fake?
This is like that time a few days before HBP was released when this guy escaped from jail and stole a copy of HBP like 3 days before release... 2 DAYS 9 HOURS 42 MINUTES 23 SECONDS UNTIL I READ THE WORLD'S GREATEST NOVEL!!!
IS IT FAKE???
i think this begs the question-- if you were to have recieved the book, what would you do? to be honest, i'd read it. although i wouldn't go online and spoil it.
So...12 million copies US? Or is that for all English speaking countries? I'm doing the math..
WAIT WHAT?? DOES THIS MEAN THAT THE LEAKED COPY WAS REAL????? Please pllllleeeeaasssssssseee answer!!
same, i wouldn't tell everyone what happened like these people are posting. they just need to chill out, it seems like posting spoilers is making them feel good about themselves. lol
I would NEVER spoil it for somebody else but yes I would read it!!! There were some people online yesterday spoiling it for everyone, were they lying or telling the truth? Anyone? I want to know that what they were saying was made up. come on someone humor me. please let it be fake, please let it be fake.
ackermanlv: I would read it if I got it early too. it's natural to be curious about something you've been waiting YEARS for. Most folks would say no way, but really, they would open it and at least take a peek at SOMETHING...
I think going on mugglenet.com to much is getting to me....oy book come out! Oh by the way if any of you guys live in Dallas and dare tries to role by in a car at the midnight release party, and screams out the ending...I will have eggs in my purse so you may not want to do that...just FYI
Wow, can you imagine the surprise if you ordered the book and it arrived early? I admit I would definitely read it but come on, who wouldn't? I will just say that they better keep the story to themselves. No spoiling!!
OUTRAGEOUS!!!!!!! :@
I think we can assume that this means that the leaked copies are real, Jimmy97. It's sad to believe that the book was spoiled for everyone who read the leaks. But despite everything, I think we all have to remember, that the book is still going to be amazing and just as heartwrentching as we all thought and know it's going to be even if you've glimpsed a spoiler.
Good gosh people it is a book. Who cares if some get out early. To all you whinning about spoilers, boo hoo. You know that the chances were high that this would happen, and yet you still got on the internet this week. And don't say spoilers ruin the experience because that is just bull crapt. I read The Lord of the Rings knowing full well how it ended and everything but I still enjoyed it. You all make this a bigger deal than it is. And to anyone who has been spoiled, I blame you. It is not another person's responsibility to make sure that you aren't spoiled, it is your own. If you didn't want to be spoiled you should have stayed off internet. I think you all are just jealous, because you didn't get it early. I have no doubt that half of the people complaining about stores releasing it early would have bought it themselves early had they had the chance. You are not innocent like you claim. Also, if you claim knowing the ending ruins it for you, how come you read the books over and over again? Because by this logic after you have read it once the book is useless, because you know the ending.
Who here knows an estimate of how many copies are gonna ship in the US?
freaking idiot companies... why can't they just WAIT!? I've had a rather big thing in the book ruined for me by a jerkoff who just had to send it to me after I told him I didn't want to know anything.
If you want to be spoiled, go on www.zendurl.com/hallows If you don't, just wait until Saturday!
It looks like the spoilers have slowed down today. yesterday was awful. like every other post was a spoiler. SCARY!!!! I know I should just quit reading these but I can't.
Ugh! I hate people who spoil! But most spoilers on the web are fake anyways, so I'm not concerned.
does it matter now? and well the true fans will wait... look at me... i've got the entire book here in pix... and i m not reading it coz i wna wait... soooooo many ppl asked for it... I onli send them the first page :)
Ah. Bavo, Scholastic, I'm proud of you! Im glad Scholastic tis working its hardest to put those gits int heir place. News is really pouring in, in all this pre-DH chaos. It's really an experience.
See, that was yesterday! The hated epilogue and the photographs of the book hit the web on Sunday. I still think that all of that is fake!
...This means that the epilogue I read has a greater chance of being real. And if it is, it'll be the biggest let down EVER. I absolutely hate that I may have accidentally spoiled something I've been waiting nearly 10 years for.
DO NOT CLICK THE LINK THAT TELLS YOU WHAT HAPPENS, i did thinking it would have been shut down when i was reading the article from Yahoo!, DONT DO IT, i only read the first few words and then i closed it, i think its real and its ruined for me. -trying to get it out of my head and forget
