Scholastic tracks down Deathly Hallows leak
The US book publisher has issued a statement this morning which reveals where a leak of Deathly Hallows occurred:We are taking immediate legal action against DeepDiscount.com and Levy Home Entertainment. The number of copies shipped is around one one-hundredth of one percent of the total U.S. copies to go on sale at 12:01 am on July 21st.

Scholastic has recently learned that some individuals have received copies of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows through the mail , beginning on Tuesday, July 17th, as a result of a breach of the on-sale agreement by the distributor, Levy Home Entertainment, and shipments made by DeepDiscount.com, a customer of that distributor. We are taking immediate legal action against DeepDiscount.com and Levy Home Entertainment. The number of copies shipped is around one one-hundredth of one percent of the total U.S. copies to go on sale at 12:01 am on July 21st.
We are also making a direct appeal to the Harry Potter fans who bought their books from DeepDiscount.com and may receive copies early requesting that they keep the packages hidden until midnight on July 21st.
Scholastic is especially grateful to the other retailers and distributors for their careful attention to keeping the books secure until the release time and for planning thousands of spectacular midnight parties where fans will celebrate together. And we ask everyone, especially the media, to preserve the fun and excitement for fans everywhere.
The fans themselves have made it abundantly clear that they are looking forward to going to the midnight parties, receiving their very own copy of the book and finally getting to read the book they have so anxiously awaited.

I am 100% sure that what I have been reading is real. The best thing ever is who has the locket. And Kreacher's tale, which I hope is depicted in the movie rather than just told. Regulus's fate is pretty horrible.

A person who posted previously made this point; Assuming that the Scholastic press release is completely accurate (which is not certain), the pre-ordered books that arrived early started arriving on Tuesday, July 17th. However, the photos uploaded on photobucket are confirmed by a technology expert (assuming this news report is accurate, http://www.ctv.ca/servlet /ArticleNews/story/CTVNew s/20070718/Harry_Potter/2 0070718?hub=TopStories ) to have been uploaded on July 15th. Therefore, if both the press release and the article are true, the "leaked" version could not be one of the true versions accidently delivered early.

I received this book on tuesday - to my shock and surprise. I have not read it - I have not opened it - I have no intention of reading spoilers, true or not - I cannot believe the DD DVD made the mistake - it will cost them...

I've already spoiled the entire book by accident by clicking one of those stupid links. People keep saying you can read the book online but I think I might just go and get the book, I don't feel like spoiling it. But didn't this happen with Half Blood Prince? Everyone is acting like its a big deal when its happened before hasn't it? We knew Dumbledore was going to be killed by Snape in it before it came out(or at least i knew). I just wish people would respect the "fun surprise" to the end of a really good series and keep the spoilers to themselves.

This happens every year, every HP book that is about to be released. This is only about making the advertorial of the book, so that people will buy it and publishers will make a new record. What's Jo gonna do this time? In 6th book, she said that she will be giving a signed copy of HBP to the ones who already had their HBP copies; this time the price should be increased, like a signed DELUXE EDITION of the book, perhaps. :P

I already wrote a complaint into deep discount still working on the other one. I did report jerkyhole and others yesterday, it did no good. and as for spreading our own rumors. I like that idea. So what I heard was that Harry really was a horcrux and that neville had to kill him to let snap finish of voldemort. And Fred kills George. Or was it George kills Fred oh well. y'all that jerky guy is CONSTANTLY on here....gracious--that should be enought of an insight to his life as it is...ha...So just let it be. Im still on hold with scholastic. My cousin works there so im trying to figure out exactly what is going on....but they did confirm that a lot of the manuscripts where not the same as DH, even the pics with the hand in all of them. Secondary: The book first was delivered YESTERDAY...we have been debating this for a while now, and the pictures were uploaded before yesterday--so even though they shouldn't have shipped it, it's not likely that the pics were taking, and spread all over that quickly-BitTorrent or not.
