yes! i am! mugglecast just hates us, sirius :(
4:59 a.m. Sunday. I just finished!!!
These are some of the questions that have remained unanswered in the Deathly Hallows. What lies beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries? What were Lily and James' occupations? How exactly did the Potters and the Longbottoms "thrice defy Voldemort"? Who is the DADA teacher? Who is the Headmaster of Hogwarts? Whot is the Trios occupation? Who is the Minister of magic? Voldemort lost his body at Godric's Hollow, then who retrieved his wand? What's behind the locked door in the Department of Mysteries? Will the curse that Voldemort presumably placed on the DADA position ever be lifted? We were told we would find some information about ghosts did we?
well, we did find out info about the ghosts... remember the story with the bloody baron and the grey lady? that was a bit unexpected, but it was still there
Hey, where is episode 100? If I choose episodes 91 to 100 I always get 101 .. argh
I'D LIKE JO TO PUBLISH SNAPE'S MEMOIRS! We need to find out more about his feelings towards Harry, Lily and Dumbledore. Would love to read it in his own words! PLEASE, JO!!!!!!!!!
i cant wait to listen to it woow sound quit brilliant
yeah jkr does consider love to be magic so i guess it is Big-D lol. i cried my eyes out it that chapter when he told harry he didnt think he was a waste of space, did anyone else not find that really moving???
one more question about the book. harry would have completed his 7th year whenhe was 17 right? so y was teddy tonks on the train at the end when he was 20, or close to it?
Most of the epilogue was like particularly bad fanfiction, sry2say. It didn't tell us much except who ~*married*~ who, had children etc. There were other things I think most people would've preferred learning instead. In other news, people over at Livejournal have already created an Albus Potter/Scorpius Malfoy shipping community. No words. Also, HUGO. What. I lol'ed.
the end of the book was indeed brilliant, but it was too harsh to kill the whole lot of harry's side... still, I'll be waiting for the movie:)
i was just reading what the mugglenet staff said they thought would happen in DH, the question was would harry return to hogwarts and one member, rachael, said of course he is, he isnt going to live in a tent while searching for the horcruxes. and that is exactly what he did do, that made me laugh out loud!!! LMAO!!!
REMEMBER, IF ANYONE WANTS THE BOOK OFF ME, IN PDF FORMAT, TEXT, SEND AN EMAIL TO baraa_rulz@hotmail.com!! This also includes you Emerson and The Staff if they want DH in Soft-Copy!!
jacensolo66 - maybe Teddy is the DADA teacher like his father was? lol no thats just a random thought
I just finished reading Deathly Hallows and I thought it was the MOST PATHETIC end for the series! Almost all of the qustions remained unanswered and I seriously wonder what JKR was playing at! I mean, was she really serious when she declared she had finished writing the book?! Seems to me she still has to write half of it, typing up the loose ends! UTTERLY DISSAPOINTED!
I'M FINISHED!!!! And my eyes are all blood-shot from continuous reading! I was bawling when Harry died! and Tonks and Lupin.. i still feel sick when i think of that. Their son exactly like Harry. SUCH A GOOD BOOK, COULDN'T HAVE ASKED FOR BETTER. but i must ask, why dobby? Hedwig? Mad-Eye? why? i just don't understand? Ok, hedwig may have been annoying carrying her around in the tent.. but why? I LOVED Hermione's little bag and their kiss! I still can't believe it's ended .. and the last chapter - 19 years later. I just can't picture them with children and not being chased by voldemort. I mean they have for so long and so many books, i just can't imagine such a jump in time .. It's so sad, I will definatly miss the adventures of Harry, Ron and Hermione. How they provided a place for me to escape to whenever i wanted to - a bit like the room of requirements actually. Now NEVER having a new adventure to look forward to, and never having the excitement of opening the first page of the new, crisp book .. just waiting to allow the adventures to unravel in your mind, your imagination. Thank-you JKR!
I hope the podcast was good fun! :) Would have been good if I could go. I hope they saw my email and let 4 extra people in *sniff*
Great podcast, it was quite cool to be there in person to witness the madness and Andrew whipping his iPhone out at every chance he got. And the floor above us stamping so hard they broke the lights :-D And thanks for the cushions they came in handy for when we were all in the queue. Best weekend ever.
lol. i hope not quidditchquaffle since he was making out with someone that was young enough to be a student.
lindenada- i completly agree that the epilogue was like bad fanfic! we didnt even find out there jobs or anything, it was sooo not what i expaected but up to that point the book was brilliant. i was dissopoined we didnt leard more about the veil and i was really hoping to hear something from sirius some how too. quidditchquaffle- i really like the idea that teddy is DADA teacher, but i guess we'll never know as jkr didnt finish the book very well!!! i loved the stuff about snape and lily being friends from before they went to hogwarts. i was so upset thar dobby was kliied. and kreacher had a complete transformation, it was nice.
best book yet....though the epilogue was a bit.....incomplete.
Can't wait to here the mugglecasters thoughts on the book! I loved it, although there are still loads of things I want to know, and it might take a few rereadings before I understand it all! Nice to know alot of my theories were right though :D
I wished she had elaborated on the epilogue a lot more.
the book was awesome!but the epilogue reeeeeeeeeeeally sucked!i wanted to kno what happens to the characters not how harry and ginny bring up their kids!!
I was at the Podcast too :D It was FANTASTIC! Does anyone know if there will be any pictures/video from the event?
that book was amazing but two questions about the book: what did dudley see when the dementors attacked him and who used magic later in life? and just for jo who got the repreive? i think tonks and lupin were the two she didnt plan to kill
1 more thing : without seeming like an idiot i cant remember the scene on the american cover happening in the books. where ever harry and voldy are it aint the great hall
they said that ted was there to see the girl (im assuming it was bill and fleur's daughter) off...so he wasnt going to school, he was just saying goodbye to his presumably 17 year old girlfriend
ya i think your prob right maclapp. thats nice=)
I loved the book also. It's by far, the best of the bunch. There were only 2 things I didn't really like. 1. The epilogue - I wanted to know if Luna and Neville ended up together and more about Harry's future. 2. The death of Lupin and Tonks. They were too important in the series to have them die almost as a footnote. Either have them die as heroes or let them live and raise their son. And who did raise the son (another epilogue question). I'm still hoping that Jo writes a real epilogue for charity and really expands on how people ended up. Other than that - way to go JO!
Why is no one talking about Fred??? My family and I were devastated when we reached his death. I think it was completely unnecessary. Why did she have to separate the twins??? His death was so sad, so sudden, so UNEXPECTED, so SHOCKING!!!!! That was one of the saddest parts of the book. As the older sister of a pair of twins, one of whom has finished the book too, it was very upsetting to read of the death of one twin, and then have to wonder how the other would continue his life alone... I need to re-read the book, but right now, despite the many, UNNECESSARY deaths, I'm really satisfied w/ this book. Before reading it I didn't think that Harry was a Horcrux, but the way she wrote it, however, it worked so well, and I was very happy with it. This is an incredibly powerful, moving story!!! What a finale!!!!!
well is not that the epilogue was bad for me, i find it not so disappointing to be quite honest, but the problem is that it's bloody incomplete, short and almost without interesting informations. But well, that's just a little thing. The rest of the book was great enough.
I think what Dudley saw was something that made his worst nightmare believable.... which is that Harry was quite powerful, good and all of the hype about Harry was true. Why else would he act like he did?
It said that Teddy was there to see her off- NOT on the train! He was kiss her goodbye!
NOT MY DAUGHTER YOU B***** - best freagin line in the book! HAHHA i was cheering at that point!!!:))) SPOILER WARNING****************** ************************ Dobby dying was like the saddest part in the entire book i think!:( i was counting on him to survive:(
I cant wait for the movie.
So I'm downloading now to listen to it later today when I finish up the book. In ITunes its downloading 101 and not 100. I want to listen to 100 before 101 obviously. Anybody else have this issue?
Was anyone else sad about Snape's death? At first, I was like 'Yay! Take that you murderer.' But then he gave Harry the memory and I was like 'Huh?' And then they showed that Snape was actually a good guy. I mean, it was HIS Patronus that helped Harry and Ron, it was because of HIM that Voldemort gave Lily a chance to live, and HE loved Lily. I was nearly crying at Dobby's death ... he got stabbed ... after those times he helped Harry. Hedwig's death was sudden. Mad-Eye Moody's death came to me as a shock; I didn't expect that man to die. Fred's death was sad because his twin was still alive and they were so close. Lupin and Tonks ... WOW! Did NOT think they would die after Teddy was born. Wormtail dying, heh, TAKE THAT YOU TRAITOR! What I really loved was Mrs. Weasley calling Bellatrix a b*tch when Bella was in a duel with Hermione, Ginny, and Luna. AND SHE DIED! Bellatrix killed waaay too many people. Anyways, WAS ANYONE ELSE SAD AFTER SNAPE DIED AND ALL THAT SNAPE'S MEMORY STUFF!?
FOR THOSE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE EPILOGUE!!!!! JKR has se t the thing up perfectly so that she can write more if she wishes - start another Harry story or one of the other characters without the pressure that all of us bring waiting for the "next book." I think it was smashing! Here are my questions: 1) What do Harry, Ginny, Ron and Hermione do a for a living? 2)What did James and Lilly do for a living? 3)What is Harry's oldest sons middle name? Sirrius? 4) What have they been doing for nineteen years? 5) What happened to the Malfoys and the rest of the Death eaters? 6) Who is Vicotrie? Is that Bill and Fleurs daughter? 7) What happens to Magonagle? Hagrid? Kreacher? Did Nevilee marry Luna? 8) What did Dudley see when the dementors attacked? 9) How did they clean up the Dementors? 10) What happened to Mr. and Mrs. Weasly (I so KNEW she was an amazing witch!)
What Doongoon said. ophia: just go to your podcast list on iTunes and click the X next to episode 101, then click "Get" next to episode 100.
Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot, and Prongs... They Died in the reverse order like predicted, pretty cool!
Love love love love the book... Cant believe I was worried about the ending. JK Rowling gave the best ending ever! But oh-my-god so many deaths, cant stop crying when someone important is dead. So saaadd.. Yes, too bad the epiloque is too short. I want to know more.. love albus severus already.. hehe. Time to re-read it again. JK Rowling rocks!
Oh...*breathes*...My...*b reathes*... GOD! i loved it but it was the saddest thing ever! the thing with dudley made me so sad! i never cried at Mad-Eye and Hedwig although it was sad. the first thing i cried at had to be Godric's Hollow when Harry visited his parent's graves. I cried at Fred and also Tonks and Lupin. there were more but i'm still in shock to think about it. There was a lot of humour for such a scary/sad book. e.g "NOT MY DAUGHTER YOU B****!" yeah, that might not've been funny to anyone else but it made me giggle a bit! i also liked when ron came back and hermione was attacking him lol. the word "bastard" was used a couple of times by aberforth and also ron and i know it's not a swear word but it was definately meant as one! that made me laugh to :) i knew neville would teach herbology! this book is the best ever i cannot beleive it's over! i never ate while i was reading - the excitement made me feel too sick! this was so sad though i can't beleive all those people died! the first thing i thought when it dawned on me that Tonks on Lupin were dead was "what about Teddy?"
ya....how long did it take most people to finish the book? I finished yesterday around 11:30 in the morning...i had a basktball tournament so i knew that i had to finish it...also....who was the character to do magic late in life?
As i read some of these comments i shake my head in both agreement and disagreement... I too am upset about not seeing siruis in teh mirror as i was sure that would happen, as well as not finding out about the veil. the dobby death was BY FAR the saddest, i could not believe the Lupin death was not drwan out more as he acted as a father figure to harry for an entire year. I was also sure that it would be Neville who killed Bella... but i guess its better he didnt... Molly finally got her revenge as all mothers would in a rage of fury at her childrens attackers. i thought Luna was fantatic again. Ron and Herrmy ended up together because of SPEW (nice that came up even if very subtly). Harry is a Horcrux theory explains so much.... but as for one of my favorite characters... SNAPE... what a fantastic thing he did all these years... really... QUESTION... the harry has his moms eyes thing that we heard 8 million times through 7 books... what was the importance... was that why Snape said to harry "LOOK AT ME" so he could see Lilly one last time, to show how much he loved her and why he did this for Dumbledore and Harry? EPILOGUE.... good but maybe could have had a bit more... about the aftermath of what happened to each character not just 19 years later... but she tied up and additional writtings with teh "His scar hadnt hurt in 19 years". I was relatively happy with the book.. i bet when i read slowly again i will like it even more!
i remember i cried wen dobby died.. so sad =( i'm excited for the movie too... and how would they all react with all those kissing scenes..
I wish I could have heard 101 live! I'm so excited to listen to both, though! I think that it couldhave been Ron who did magic later in life, because Parseltounge was a new magical ability for him. Just a guess.
I loved the book. I thought it ended the series very well, though I cried a long time for Snape, who has been my favorite character for over 6 years: However, it eases my mind to know I was right in trusting him all along. Wonderful book!
*SPOILER WARNING* *SPOILER WARNING* *SPOILER WARNING* I absolutely BAWLED at the end of the book. I ALWAYS KNEW SNAPE WAS GOOD! I REFUSED TO BELIEVE HE WAS BAD AND AFTER OOTP I KNEW HE LOVED LILY! Oh god, there's a knot in my throat just talking about it. When Harry going to the forest for the "final" confrontation and he takes the stone and Sirius, James, Lily and Remus show up and Harry apologises to Remus for him dying when his son was just born and Remus says : "I'm sorry too, sorry I will never know him but he will know why I died and I hope he will understand I was trying to make a world in which he could live a happier life." I FREAKIN BROKE DOWN AND CRIED FOR LIKE HALF AN HOUR AT THAT PART! When Fred died I didn't cry...I was just in too much shock. I mean, let's face it...having 9 of them, it was a mathematical impossibility that all the Weasley's would live, but I NEVER would've thought the one of the twins would kick the can. When George lost his year and said he felt "Saint-like" cause of "holey" I kept rethinking of that in my head throughout the day and couldn't stop laughing. I was like "Aw...George, I still love you! Even if you are a one-eared freak." I felt so relieved when I finished the last page. It took a few minutes of me sitting in my room staring into nothing to finally realise that it's over...
Okay, did anyone else ABSOLUTELY HOWL about Dobby and Fred?
