Naomi Watts is pretty, but I think an actress with more presence is necessary. She should also be prettier or at least as pretty a Jason Isaacs!

...oh. Well, I'm not heartbroken. I was OKAY with Naomi playing Narcissa, but although I care about her casting because she's one of my favorite characters, I can't honestly say I'm hoping for one particular actress to get the part. I would prefer it to be someone less famous though. And yeesh, what's with the "she's too pretty" comments? Narcissa IS pretty. x_x Anyway, can't wait to find out who REALLY gets it, and the other uncast parts too. Now that I think about...Naomi just doesn't seem to "fit" with the rest of the cast, so it's not a big surprise that it was only a rumor. I think she's a good actress, yeah, but I don't know if she's quite on par with the rest of them? ANYway. I know they'll get the right people. They have for EVERY other character!

Well, thank God anyway. I understand that Watts is originally from England and grew up in Australia, but she sounds American to me and the though of her trying to put on a British accent and the fact that she is so recognizable in America would have ruined it for me. I'd rather a British actress that is well known more in Britain than here. I think that would keep with the spirit of JKR's demand that the cast be all British (and that the children would all be unknowns).

A friend has just pointed out to me that it's actually possible that the actors' agents are just denying the rumours until all the contracts are finalised and signed - which is pretty probable. So for all we know, these rumours may yet turn out to be true. :-)

I'm quite glad this news turned out to be a hoax! I'd really like to see Joely Richardson as Narcissa! She's so Slytherin and posh *.* and, of course, Bob Hoskins as Slughorn would be perfect. I think I'd be very disappointed not to see Hoskins in HP serie

BTW, I thought they were going to start filming in September and while Narcissa only has one scene, I'm sure they'll need to get someone nailed down so they can do the scene and move on. I'm sure we'll find out soon enough.

I hate to disagree with everyone, but I'm quite glad Naomi Watts is not going to be in it. I would not be able to picture her as Narcissa, I would see her for her roles on such movies as The Ring.

Forget Naomi Watts, or whoever else they have been considering, the filmmakers should put this woman in the next two Harry Potter films as Narcissa Malfoy. Her name is Laura Harris, and she will be appearing in the new ABC series "Women's Murder Club." Sounds sophisticated and intelligent, eh? Mmm...not so much. But in all seriousness, if this broad can do a British accent, then she NEEDS to be cast as Narcissa. This is exactly what I think of when I see her face. Slap on a long wig the same color as her existing hair, and we've got ourselves a Narcissa. What do you think?

okay there's no way naomi watts could have played Narcissa because she's just too good looking....we need someone with higher cheek bones and a skinnier more sallow face with longer bleach blonde hair who is a lot skinnier anyway.....the other two i don't know because i don't know the parts they would be playing.

Well that rumor must be out there for a reason. I've been trying to think of all the roles that will need to be filled. Lots of Pensieve roles, but who else? Scrimgeor, Slughorn. Anyway, I think Naomi would make a great Narcissa. Have you seen the Painted Veil? Goes from very cold and selfish to loving and caring all in one movie. And Narcissa did finally show some kindness in the end.

Hey,,,what about Billy Nighty to be cast in Harry Potter? He is a great actor and he can perfom dark roles...just remember Underworld playing Viktor and also Pirates of the Caribbean

While I like Naomi Watts, there are a few things to consider. 1. At 38, she is way too young to play Cissy 2. She is due to give birth at the end of August, and would really not be available for a shoot date of September. Natasha Richardson would be great though!
