That kind of figures. Wouldn't it be on the homepage of the Warner Brothers website if it was true? That is where I normally look to see who will be playing in the next movies. If not the homepage then somewhere on that site. I guess we'll have to wait a little longer. Those were good choices too.
well, she's blonde enough to be Narcissa... but too young like I said, she would of been good as her, but too young... she's supposed to be older than Sirius and Harry's parents by at least 5 years...
GOOOD because i reallly didnt want naomi watts tarnishing harry potter with her horrible acting im kidding i dont have a problem with her...i think she'll do well at nacissa...or would have done well... wonder who it will be then
Good, I don't like her lol
I'm kind of glad she isn't playing it. I don't think I would like her.
well she isn't british :]
lochhnessmonstaa--- yes she is, she was born there and then moved to australia when she was 14. im actually disapointed.
I like Towsend and Feines, but neither are right for Harry Potter, I think. And I absolutely hate Naomi Watts, and she wouldnt make a good Narcissa anyway. I remember while they were casting Order of the Phoenix, they kept changing the actress who was to play Bellatrix, and I didnt find out until a few short months before the movie came out that it was Helena Bonham Carter. So I figure there's really no point to pay attention this early in the game. I personally feel that they should cast Hugh Laurie in one of the next two movies. He's a comedian, and would be a good Mundungus type character, but I think he'd also make a great death eater. He's done movies with almost every single actor in the Harry Potter films, so I know he could get the hook up!
Stuart would have made a fantastic sirius actually...meh...gary does a good job too. I didn't like the idea of Naomi being narcissa for some reason so that's alright. I trust them though, they did an excelent job casting luna and bellatrix for this last one.
Hello, all. How about Kate Beckinsale as Nacissa. That would be one hot, Death Eater Mama
How about Sir Ian McKellen for Scrimgeour? And Keira Knightly OR Rosamund Pike for Narcissa? If you don't know Rosamund Pike she was Keira's sister Jane in "Pride and Prejudice." And also from "P&P" Rupert Friend who played the handsome but money hungry Mr. Wickham: he could be Tom Riddle Sr. in the dream sequence. Or even Orlando Bloom? They both fit the bill of handsome men to look at and look delicious in period clothing. Hmm???
Aw. I wonder who's going to play Narcissa. :\
well... that sucks.. noami watts was a brilliant actress ... i was looking forward to her playing narcissa malfoy
Oh well. Not too fussed. Naomi Watts would've been good as Narcissa, but there are a lot of other good candidates out there.
dang!!! i thought she wouldve been a good Narcissa!!! o well, its not like there arent plenty of blonde actresses out there who can play Cissy... plus i thought she looks a little young to play Narcissa... of course, with the right make-up that wouldnt be a problem. hmmmm...
awww...i was looking forward to Lestat playing a charecte(stewart townsend) though i have no clue what he would have played
She was too Hollywood for Harry Potter anyway.
I'm not a fan of Naomi Watts... She just doesn't do it for me, and just because a person was born in a country and spent the first 14 years of their life there, doesn't really make them apart of that culture. Besides, her accent is to muddled, and I just don't think I could be convinced that she would be good as Narcissa; you need someone vain a bitchy, someone like Paris Hilton, but with talent. I think Tara Fitzgerald would be a good Narcissa (she was in one of my fav movies "Brassed Off" with Mr. yummy, yummy, yummy Ewan McGregor); of course you'd have to dye her hair. I think Bill Nighy would be awesome in the movie, and same with Joseph Fiennes; actually any stage actor who can "shapeshift" and be anyone. That's why Gary Oldman is so great! He can be anyone, and you believe he's that person. Anyone who can play a herion addict punk icon, a blood sucking lord, a musical geniuis, a futuristic tyrant, a football hooligan, a pimp, a US Representitive, and have us believe it, is what an actor should be. And I think he's nice to look at... :o) Too bad Christian Bale couldn't be in the film... He's a good shapeshift as well, but I can't think of anyone for him to play... Maybe the muggle Prime Minister??? Oh well... I still don't think Naomi Watts would be a good Narcissa... :o)
To everyone suggesting Cate Blanchett... Brilliant though she is, she's even more Australian than Naomi Watts. Cate was born in Melbourne and is therefore NOT British at all.
HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HANGOVER: Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe was feeling so ill after his 18th birthday party he had to be led into his family home by a minder. The actor was looking pale and unsteady on his feet after six hours of celebrations with friends at a private Soho night spot. "You're in for a very long wait," he told photographers, as quoted in the Daily Mail. "He's asleep and will be for a while." As Radcliffe recovers from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hangover he can think about how to spend his $47 million. The money — earned through his movie roles as the boy wizard — was officially unlocked yesterday from a trust fund he couldn't access until his 18th birthday. He began digging into the cash last night in Soho, ordering crispy duck pancakes, crayfish and rare roast beef for his pals, casting director mum Marcia and dad, Alan. Before long they were sinking cocktails and going through scores of bottles of beer and wine. But before the actor's wild party, he was drinking strictly non-alcoholic beverages with friends at Lord's cricket ground watching the rain-hit last day of the Test against India. His publicist Vanessa Davies defended the boy's clean-cut reputation yesterday. "Daniel is now 18 and the question of whether he chooses to consume alcohol at a private function or not is completely up to him," she said. ohhhh that is sooo sadd
that sucks. i was really looking forward to naomi watts playing narcissa malfoy.
Think, once the screenplay is written, Narcissa will be onscreen for all of 5 minutes (can't see her part in Diagon Alley being written in). Better to give the part to an up and coming/ lesser actress. How about Helen McRory who was originally chosen for Bellatrix?
WHHHhHAAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTT TT?!?!?!
I'm actually kinda glad. I didn't like Namoi. She seems to innocent and sweet to portray Narcissa. Her features werent sharp enough either. The other two guys I could see playing Tom Riddle Sr./Jr. They fit pretty well in my mind, although it would be nice if we were able to get back the person who played Riddle in the second movie. I don't remember his name but I think we would be perfect and it helps the continuity issues.
booo that stinks lol. oh well
No Stuart Townsend?! THAT SUX!!!! He's sooooooooooooooo hot!! I wish Richard Harris hadn't passed away. I think that he makes a better Dumbledore than Michael Gambon. But then again, WB execs weren't exactly interested in my opinion as to who was taking over...lol. Still love the movies though. I just hope that they do the last 5-6 chapters of Deathly Hallows justice when they are filming it. In my opinion, they scrimped on the climax of Order of the Phoenix, and I was really looking forward to seeing the Weasley twins' portable swamp.....
Aw, that's too bad. I think that Naomi Watts would have been a great Narcissa. And Joseph Fiennes would be a great young Voldemort since he's Ralph's brother. Oh well, I'm sure whoever they come up with will be great anyway.
Thank God, Naomi Watts is wayy too hot to play a pale and fragile mother under soo much stress, they need someone older and more wrinkley i guess is a way to describe it.... But definetly no NAMIO WATTS!!!
Oh, well, poor Lucious is back down to 0. Me and my friend gave him a coolpoint because he had a wife that looked like Naomi Watts. If that makes sense. lol.
Naomi would NOT have been too young to play her (Mugglenet's Encyclopedia: Narcissa is late 30s or early 40s)...but she would've needed appropriate make-up and other changes to look the part. Eh, whatever. I hope it'll be someone a little less well-known so I don't have any preconceived notions. (EW, gag, Paris Hilton? I know what you mean about bitchiness but yuck! XD Cissy isn't an airhead/bimbo/dumb blonde.) I'm sure they'll find someone who's got the proper look and can act well. I know she won't be onscreen very long but I'm prepared for the awesomeness of the scene to make up for that!
I heard this news AGES ago really!! And from the start I knew that wasn't going to happen...and it won't! LOL I'm happy though Naomi Watts is too famous to be in Harry Potter I think...
Umm ... well, that's a bit of a let down. I thought that Naomi would've been wonderful for the role of Narcissa (sp?). As for the other two guys, I'm not sure. I just hope the casting department pick someone great.
Man! i think she would have been great! that sux.. but so far they've done great on the casting (except for Gambon but we cant help it.. richard harris--RIP) I mean i LOVE Helena Bonahm Carter , and she was soo good as bellatrix.. The guy who plays sirius (i forgot his name) is perfect too...!! So i know they will do great. i just cant wait!!!! Joseph fiennes is sooo hot though! they should have him!!
im not all that disappointed that naomi watts isnt playing narcissa. don't get me wrong she's a great actress and all but i just dont think she would've done such a great job at being narcissa. i agree with those saying that cate blanchett would be a good choice. i was curious to see what characters the other two would've been playing. joseph fiennes is awesome!
That's so sad. I got really excited knowing Stuart Townsend will be casted to be someone, probably Bill Weasley. He's --- perfect!
I concur with MyRuh: HBC is MADE to play Bella (say, I wonder if anyone ever called her Trixie? XD)!! And though I've said a buncha times that they cast everyone perfectly....yeah, somehow I kinda overlooked that Gambon is not the Dumbledore I picture...but they couldn't really help it...oh well. He's not terrible and 99.9% of the rest of the films is perfection!
i agree with harrypotterfan77, Rosamund Pike would make a good Narcissa in terms of looks, idk about acting though, i've never seen her movies.
Meanwhile, everyone, they're still going for 10,000 comments so scroll back down to "Your Deathly Hallows Reactions" before it scrolls off Mugglenet's home page!
according to yahoo, she had her kid today:) haha.
naomi watts would be a really bad narcissa. i imagined malfoy's mother to being tall, skinny, with a sunken face, and although naomi is skinny and kinda tall, she just doesnt match Jo's description in the book.
Okay I'm from Adelaide, Australia and I've just read in our newspapers that Naomi may be playing the part of Narcissa… but then again, it’s a newspaper and you can’t believe them. But alot of you are saying that she is too famous to play her… are you serious?? Ralph Fiennes (Voldemort), David Thewlis (Lupin), Maggie Smith (McGonagall), Jason Isaacs (Lucius), Emma Thompson (Trelawney), Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix) and Robbie Coltrane (Hagrid)… not to mention Alan Rickman (Snape) and Gary Oldman (Sirius) are all very famous actors/actresses so someone like Naomi being too famous is pretty poor reasoning. She is a great actress and I think she would do a really good job… but too famous?? The younger characters when they were first cast I agree were relatively if not totally unknown… but it seems the adult characters have all been cast to well know, well established actors/actresses.
I think that Nicole Kidman would have been a perfect Narcissa, of course she is Australian, so I guess that won't be happening. :/
Hey fell4snape "(EW, gag, Paris Hilton? I know what you mean about bitchiness but yuck! XD Cissy isn't an airhead/bimbo/dumb blonde.)" It was the attitude I was talking about, not the look or the brains. Narcissa is a snob... Someone has to have that some across on screen, you have to be able to read it in their eyes.
There was a report on Sky News this morning that confirmed that Naomi Watts is going to play Narcissa for anyone that's interested.
I completely agree with Jecca 4, saying that N.W. is too famous for the part is silly. I just don't think she is right for the part. Talking about the famous people in the film, David Thewlis (Lupin), was in a movie with Leonardo DiCaprio back in '95 called "Total Eclipse". Thewlis played French poet Paul Verlaine and DiCaprio played his lover, poet Arthur Rimbaud... There are some scenes in that movie that are pretty disturbing. It just shows what a wonderful actor Thewlis is, and as much as I don't want to admitt it DiCaprio is a good actor too. :o)
PrnssVespa: Yeah, I know you meant about the attitude ;) Of course, whoever they pick will need to be able to do "snobby"...and of course at the point she comes into the movie there are other things she'll need to act *way* more than that, but yeah, they still should be able to have that haughtiness in her character.
well only no if warner bros tell us really
They're jumping right into the next movie aren't they? It seemed a little too soon to know anyways, no real disappointment.
