Jim Broadbent cast as Horace Slughorn
In an interview with our friends at Dark Horizons, actor Jim Broadbent has confirmed that he will be playing the role of Slughorn in Half-Blood Prince:Broadbent: Yeah I had basically three months in Lincolnshire in the summer and suddenly now I'm back on the rollercoaster again and I've got to finish off Indiana Jones next month and I've got a bit on Young Victoria and it's all been sort of stacking up and then I'm doing Harry Potter.
Question: Who are you?
Broadbent: Who am I? He's called Horace Slughorn. He's a retired teacher of magic who's drawn back out of retirement because he's got some secrets they need in the battle against the Deatheaters and he's quite star struck as a teacher and he's drawn back into the fold because he likes to notch up celebrity students, and he's drawn back by Harry.

The dude they picked for slughorn looks ...creepy... but im really excited about hp and the half blood prince! Dumbledork dies! woohoo! dan radcliffe and bonnie wright have no NO absolutely NOO chemistry ..so its gonna be a bit nasty! but im really excited...if they put 'sectum sempra' in, i think its gonna be rated R for extremely bloody horror. and im not sure i want to see blood splurging out of tom felton...hes as thin as a stick...he barely has any blood..any way YAY!!
i think they look cute and i dont think it will ever be r none of them because they know that kids cant watch r without an adult and face it not many adults watch harry potter the big money comes from the kids and they know that they are going to stick to pg-13 and pg now from movie 4-7 pg-13

I'd love to see Peter O'Toole as Aberforth - he's got blue enough eyes, is the right age, certainly has the acting credentials. Now if we could just find a spot for Michael Caine...
