the eternal 'violence' question. The day war ends, is the day siblings dont fight, football, wrestling, and every violent game (including chess) is outlawed, and quakers/jinism people take over. Even then, a very giver/1984 thing would have to happen. We were fighting just a moment ago, for wars not to happen, every little arguement could not happen.

dragon, i just think that when all america cares is war and violence, and glorify them on the telly, i think we need to re-examine or priorities. I refuse to watch CSI and programs like us, seeing as they disgust me and make it seem as if murder, casual sex, and other things are cool. When someone can get Eric and McKenzie back, i'll rethink my opinions. War can be solved, we just need to learn compassion and acceptance. And chess is a far cry from violence. At least in my opinion. But, if peace means a giver-like society, i'd be very sad indeed. Perhaps something more like Ender's Game, sans the Buggers?

in case someone is interested: the festival is a famous one in east india, especially bengal. its called durga puja. every years thousands (> 10,000) "pandals" (temp. temples made of bamboo, cloth and paper) come up in the city for the godess whose festival this is. many of these pandals are made using a theme. there is no profit to it. i know coz i am from calcutta, the capital of west bengal) and have seen many pandals with many many themes, including titanic and the pantheon of athens. NO PROFIT. i think suing over something like this is dumb. if nothing, it will create more hype for harry potter.
