Grnd3lW4Ld, you need to keep in mind that, while Bush cannot go to war on his own, he has to have the support of the congress. Regrettably, at the time, the "Dems" as you called them, were in a serious minority in Congress. You'll note that a lot of bills were passed into law after and before 9-11 that would ordinarily not have if there was more balance in the Congress between Reps and Dems. Even if it was a partisan vote, the US would still have gone to war because the Democrats could not out-vote the Republicans. Also, keep in mind the emotional state of the ENTIRE US at the time...we were all so keep on "getting them terrorists" we were ready to attack anyone (so some of the Democrats might have gone along with it at the time for that reason. We went after Osama in Afghanistan, but failed to get him. So, we wound up fighting Iraq...for Weapons of Mass Destruction, their support of Osama, and a number of other convenient reasons. We were so gung-ho to fight Iraq that we ignored the possibility that Bush junior wanted to fix his daddy's little mistake of not finishing the Gulf War of the 90s. And, there has been statements made by Bush's resigned aides that Bush's first concern upon being sworn in was revolving around Iraq and their OIL.

I have always enjoyed sifting through the Lexicon, and think it is one of the best HP sites on the web. I appreciate the research, and hard work that has gone into making it the site it is. However, JKR's intellectual property can only belong to her, and I think it is shameful for the Lexicon, and its creator(s) to seek to profit financially by publishing information they do not own. I have deleted them from my favourites, and will never return to their site.

Everyone READ THIS: I was very disappointed in JKR originally when I read this but GO TO THE LEAKY CAULDRON. THEY HAVE THE WHOLE CASE UP PIECE BY PIECE. Before you get really mad at JKR, at least here her side. There's a lot of stuff on there, but after reading it all I honestly think she has a point...

I'm gonna have to side with Jo on this one. Harry Potter is her character, and for an encyclopedia to be published before hers, knowing the proceeds from hers were meant to go to charity, is a substantial argument. Steve has the Lexicon, and has always had no trouble, not to mention Jo's blessing with that. Everything in the fandom would not exist without Jo and her original creativity and that must be respected. Besides, my impression of Steve was lowered a few notches after this past summer. I think this "fame" has gone to his head a bit, and in subtle ways, I felt he was stepping over the line with some things he said.
