Gambon 'camping it up'
"Well, he's been camping it up around the set like nobody's business. There was a scene when Michael had to come in and tell someone how much he loved knitting patterns. He just adored saying that."
However, please note that as the context of this quote is not given, we presume Gambon is merely "camping it up" off set and not actually on camera.

lol
camping it up, eh?
hahaha i do too! :)
hahah. i love that line.
This worries me slightly. But it was funny and I hope they don't try to make him seem obviously gay.
Lol! Camping it up! And they kept the knitting patterns line in. hehe. Top 5 :-)
this is what i feared. now that dumbys gay, they will screw with the whole movie.
I want to see Dumbledore and Shirley Ghostman in the same room eh?
Yay! 1st to post
TOP 10!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!! WOOT
i'm always complaining when people write this, but 8th! lowest i've ever had!
He said that thing about the knitting patterns in the book too, so it's not like they're trying to make him more like the "usual gay" in the movies, they're just following the books.
I'm glad that line is going to be in the movie. I
All I have to say is, wait until you see the movie before you start freaking out over this one. Just because Dan thinks he's "camping it up", doesn't necessarily mean he's out of character in any way. Top 15?
It's great that they are keeping some of the lines that are in the books! :]
lol, I forgot that dombledore said that!!!! :O)
This will hopefully make Gambon more true to the character of Dumbledore in the books
My only worry is that, being Gambon, he will suddenly decide this is how the characters IS. He's never read the book--he has no way to tell that Dumbledore isn't quite obviously gay. He was very funny about it, so I'm hopeing he just takes it lightly and doesn't try to make Dumbledore too obvious.
I'm so glad they kept that in the movie! When I read that line the first time I read HBP, it made me stop. It was just so random and so Dumbledore! Just because Dumbledore has been outted doesn't mean the character's going to be "more gay", we're just going to be able to recognize the evidence that's been planted since the very beginning of the series.
Slightly worried that they're trying to make his character too openly gay. He should remain the way he was in the books--gay, but nto flaunting it. Love the line though. xD
Hmmm...I'm a little worried he'll get too into this. I have no trouble with Dumbledore being gay, but he's not your "stereotypical gay" regardless, and I'll be really upset if he gets played that way. But I'll withold judgment until I see the movie. Only I may bring rotten fruits, just in case Gambon tries anything. (Kidding) It is a funny line :-)
that doesn't really sound like something dan would say. The Daily Mail isnt reliable at all. I doubt Gambon is playing dumbledore as openly gay.
ha ha! That's funny! :)
Oh, jeez.
Nice, that line is hilarious! Don't worry, they won't make Dumbie "openly gay", it's still a big Hollywood movie "for kids".
what does 'camping it up' mean? i am rereading hbp, and i did smirk a bit when i read about the knitting patterns/
I'm a little worried about the next film now... i just really - i agree with Hermione_G_Weasley.
What does camping it up mean?
hopefully they will keep his glasses in too
oh man this is quite exciting!!! im so happy they put the line in.....LOVED IT!!!! i just hope that whole seen is like it is in the book....its one of my favorite parts....you know when harry talks it up......you people just don't know how excited i am!!!!!!
lol......i love that line.....cant wait
tisassa- Why wouldn't tehy keep his glasses? They are his character as are Harry's. ANd isn't camping it up just mean playing it up?
Sorry if this has already been said just saying where the knitting patterns comment comes from. Its from half blood prince in slughorns house when Dumbledore comes back from the bathroom he says he was held up by looking at the muggle magazines and how much he likes knitting patterns! dumbledore rules!
yAy that is one of my fave parts in HBP!!! exciting....cant wait! man wish i could see it tomorrow =] and of COURSE he will have his glasses
Why would Slughorn, a wizard, have knitting patterns? Or, does Dumbledore carry his own personal muggle magazines? Haha.
professorlongbottom, he is staying at a muggles house remember? cuz he doesnt want to run into the death eaters
Ooh! Thanks i_heart_ronald! I totally forgot! I should go and re-read it. =D
THAT IS SO WEIRD!!!!! I was just talking about that quote earlier! I am a crazed harry potter knitter and just got that "Charmed knits" book! ..WEIRD! ~MM~
WHAT DOES CAMPING IT UP MEAN?
This is making me hopefully for the best Dumbledore performance and script thus far.. especially since Dumbledore gets a lot of flowers and attention at the end of the book. ): I have always wanted them to incorporate some of Dumbledore's quirky, yet odd quotes and likings, so I was more than pleased to know that he will be talking about knitting patterns. I really hope that makes it in the film!
no problem prolongbottem! i am so excited for HBP the movie! i really want to go watch OOTP movie....=P
Does that mean acting stereotypically gay?
well this is the first time i have no clue at all how to translate a text on this website. what exacly is 'camping it up' meaning???
If someone already posted a definition or something, sorry, I didn't read all of the posts, but what does "camping it up" mean? I've never heard that phrase!
ACID!!!!! COME RIGHT DOWN A POST GAL!!!!! LOL
Haha, I think that line really was actually in the book. It sounds familiar. How did we not realize he was gay ages ago.
I CAN'T BELIEVE SOME OF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT "CAMP" MEANS.
im just praying that he doesn't try and make Dumbledore's orientation overly stated. Please, just don't put him in rainbow and throw in stereotypes. But, its like Micah said, even if that was in the scribt, Gambon's such an appaling actor no one would notice.
who wouldnt love to say "i love those knitting patterns". or something along those lines, its soo somethin dumbledore would say. lol
Well, Slither.. I don't know about the others who're asking, but I don't live in an english speaking country (Norway) and therefore there are many English expressions Im not familiar with... (I DO know what "a camp" or "to camp" means..) So, somebody, PLEASE, what does "camping it up" mean?
