if any of yall are wondering how people celebrate the wonderful birth of the spagetti monster i can tell you...we obviously eat spagetti..so much that we all throw up and then we build this huge replica of the monster and throw up at its feet as offerings...after that we give everyone presents that has something to do with spagetti and then after that we celebrate the birth of the cheesecake queen......

yay for 2007 and yay for new projects

Posted by bhart Dec 25th 2007

this is a great list, and i doubt you guys want to do more work on it but...it would be cool if certain items were linked, like links to interviews with Jo so they'd be easier to find. but either way...yay harry potter! :)

2007 was one of the most talked about Harry Potter years. 'Gay character announcements', that was hilarious. Top stories were the book release of DH, the film release of OOTP, Dumbledore's outing, the theme park, I love this series! I can't wait to watch my DVD of OOTP!

i am so afraid of the new projects.........i have bad feelings for them......

oh man, this is pretty much drowning me in hp memories. what a year! i can't believe that the Summer to Remember is over, and the suspense is over, and the concerts in libraries are over, and the parties in bookstores are over, and, and, ...*reaches for cheesecake to keep afloat*...oh man. cheers for the greatest year ever. HAPPY CHRISTMAS!!

Posted by sammygirlpower Dec 25th 2007

2007 has been a mammoth year...really. I discovered mugglenet and mugglecast this year so My only regret is I didn't know these amazing harry potter fans sooner....we got the last hp book and im still trying to contemplate how i feel about it...another movie which was very good... yep, its been a long and short year simultaneously. Before july 21st time seemed to go really slowly, then we got the book and now, five months after, i still cant believe its over. But 2008 will be fine i suppose, even though it will never match 2007. So happy new year everyone!!!! I'm so glad we had harry potter in our lives...what would we do without it? Bring it on, 2008!

It was a great Harry Potter year. However, it was bittersweet.

Posted by superfish31 Dec 25th 2007

May I start my long year-ending speech my saying: Merry Christmas! This year is - by far - my favorite year ever. And my saddest one at that. It was inspiring, exciting, and illuminating. With the release of the last Harry Potter book, fans around the world cried, laughed, and rejoyced. (I was one of those who cried continuously while reading the book xD). On a personal note, this year, more than any other, inspired me to become a writer. Though my "carrer days" are far away (as I'm only 14), I practice and practice feverently with fanfics and short stories. It's weird because, unlike any other year, I'm sad to see this one go. Not because I'm getting older, or my years are becoming shorter: but because it's like closing this year will be like a "farwell" almost to the Harry Potter books. Yes, I know there will be the theme park, movies, encyclopedia, etc., but... I don't know... it was like when the last book was released, I didn't think much of it. It was like I would still be waiting for the next one in the next year, but now that I think about it (and the year is coming to a close), I know that next year I won't be hoping for that next book, I won't be going to book parties, I'll just be bundled up at home, reading the series over and over (not that I'm complaining ;]). So, now that my comment has made a scroll on the side, I think it's time to wrap this up. 2007 was one of the most exciting years of my life, and I think the best way to end this is to say: LONG LIVE HARRY POTTER! :]

Posted by john789 Dec 26th 2007

You guys forgot to add the Great Mugglenet Contest that you sponsored some months before the release of DH. I think that was a awesome event that took place this year becuase it brought a lot of people together. And also because thanks to it SPoT was formed. Thats was Very relevant.....still is relevant.

It has truly been "Harry Potter Year" or year of the Harry Potter Fans. I'll always remember it- I can imagine now sitting in my rocking chair telling my granddaughter who will be getting her lisence for a flying car at 16 and I'll say "When I was sixteen I was lucky enough to be in the Harry Potter Generation and get to be in the excitement of the final book coming out and spend Sundays listening to Mugglecast!" Which could be related to what our grandparents say now-- " When I was sixteen I would play marbles and sneak past my father so i could wear a bikini to the beach and on Sundays we would go for a drive and have a roast dinner!" Okay now I'm rambling but thankyou to all of you and to Mugglenet/cast for making this year what it was. And Jo as well because, well, without her it would have been a fairly boring year.

Almost exactly a year ago the news drought ended with the release of the title... The insanity of pre-DH time began, and the hype was building every day. As we entered July the hype climaxed, and we're still deflating... I don't think anything will ever reach what July did again. That was amazing to be living through... *tear This really has been, the greatest year in literary history.... *sniffle

What words can be used to describe the year us potter fans had? 'great', 'spectacular', 'incredible'. these words only scrape the surface of it. Will any harry potter fan forget the trio's adventures? you know, like to hagrid's hut, to the room of requirement, to the great hall for breakfast... or will anyone forget quidditch, trips to hogsmeade, or just harry's innocent meandering around the castle we all know and love? No. No harry potter fan will forget these things, because this whole story is in our hearts, carried around for life. This year will remind us forever, as fans, how truly lucky we were to be alive during this epic story. ALL HAIL HARRY POTTER.

Posted by GinnyPotter Dec 26th 2007

i remember waiting in line at midnight to get my book and my friend and i wrote "hedwig is the real darklord" on every pack of post-its we walked by. The girls behind us eventually saw it and started freaking out becasue they thought it was a real spolier.

Posted by TheWestTower Dec 26th 2007

Ugh... It's NOT a theme park. It's an area themed to HP inside a pre-existing park, Islands of Adventure. I'm afraid people will be expecting a whole, single park dedicated to HP... and they'll be totally dissapointed. I mean, it's only costing $200-300 million , a large themed park like a Disney or Universal park costs arouns $1 billion.

Posted by grednforge Dec 26th 2007

wooooooowwwwww what an AMAZING year!!!!!!! The best freakin' July ever, and the wait for it was agonizing but amazing all at the same time. Holy crap. My life ended after July, sadly. Seriously. My life just isn't as fun without my harry potter. Wow. That sounds really sad and like I have no life, but, yeah. This, for me, is the year of Harry Potter and will forever live on in my memory.

Posted by Green_Eyed_Lady Dec 26th 2007

For me, there were several things in 2007 besides the book and the movie that really helped make the HP fandom experience big. The first was the Mugglenet book tour (checking all the dates and hoping it would come somewhere that I could get to - and it did!). The second was the Mugglenet T-shirt giveaway (madly going through all the web pages and hoping that I might find the question in a decent amount of time). The third was PremiereFest at Enlightening 2007 in Philadelphia (seeing a live MuggleCast and watching the Wizard Rock convert with the Moaning Myrtles, Hungarian Horntails, DJ Luna Lovegood and the Cedric Diggorys were among the highlights). And I would never have known about any of it if weren't for MuggleNet. Thank you MuggleNet for letting us live vicariously through you and helping to bring the fandom together!

it really has been an awsome year 2007, the HP year. Lets see if 2008 can be as great, or at least close to it!

Posted by justanothermuggle Dec 27th 2007

2007: BEST YEAR EVER!! wow i got really depressed looking through all the comments =[ worst part is not waiting for another book... the theme park & movies just arent the same.

Posted by christianaeg Dec 27th 2007

Sniff.... 2007 was the greatest HP year ever. I don't think there's a chance that any other year can reach its level... The hype and anticipation, the wild theories, the time of shipping, the insanity of it all... For me, i don't think anything can surpass it.

Posted by superfish31 Dec 27th 2007

FelixFelicius888: You said everything I wanted to say but couldn't put out in words. =[ Simply poetic. It makes me want to cry. xD

I can't believe this crazy year is over. It wasn't a particularly spectacular year for me personally, in fact sometimes it was downright hell. But Harry Potter accompanied by mugglenet made sure that I got through it completely sane. I can remember counting down from over 1 hundred days for the book and movie release, being scandalized by Dan's role in Equus, shocked by Dumbledore's gayness, crying thru the book, begging for the mugglenet book, hearing non HP fans talk about reading the 7th one just "because everyones talking about it", and now, looking forward to the next year! I might remember 2007 as a hellish year, but i will also remember it as the best HP year EVER!!! (oh, an i got hooked on fanfiction!!)

Posted by erisedxxdesire Dec 27th 2007

I don't think I literally would have made it through the year if it weren't for Harry Potter. Since second grade this series has been my getaway from the world, and I've finally proven my obsession not as unhealthy as my mother thought. ;D Even though I'm sad for all those who died because they truly lived a life on the pages of this series, I'm not sad it has ended because fianlly Jo can sit back. She is truly the one most affected by this series, but I think it's safe to say a majority of the world is a close second. Way to go Jo, you've truly inspired many.

Posted by Get_sirius Dec 27th 2007

well this was the first full year of me being a fan and I can only say I wish I loved harry potte for the last 10 years, the fan base is amazing and MUGGLENET IS MY LIFE !! the best parts of this year was of corse all of the excitment of the book and movie BEST WEEK OF MY LIFE EVER! I also got to go to the Ootp premire in hollywood which was amazing, the theme park release, dumbledore being gay, wow this year was incredable!!!

Posted by Kairicka Dec 28th 2007

I think that 2007 was the greatest year for Harry Potter yet! Even if it was a horrible year in all other aspects. Oh well.

cheesecakiens where are you ????????????????????????? ?????????

Posted by tiassa Dec 28th 2007

Hereeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee eeeeeee!

Posted by hplvr92 Dec 28th 2007

crzyguy662, I noticed that too... That seems like a pretty big oversight lol. Something tells me that these new projects aren't going to have anything to do with Harry Potter :( I'm going to be really bummed if MuggleNet changes too far away from their roots. But man has it been an amazing year. It's been such a blast, and I'm glad we all got to share it with each other. Happy almost New Year everybody!

Posted by i_am_nagini_777 Dec 28th 2007

I'm just really annoyed that I missed out on the Summer of HP because I was at dumb sleepaway camp. Did anyone make a documentary of all the conventions and stuff? Because that would be so incredibly awesome. hplvr92 I think that they're announcing a new seperate site for all the randomness and hopefully a nice apology. *coughs*

Posted by rooon Dec 28th 2007

Tight!

Posted by july21tillhp7 Dec 30th 2007

Its kinda sad... I went back a read some of my comments and just reminds me how great the summer was...

Posted by love_padfoot Dec 31st 2007

wow this is honestly one of the truest statements ive heard in a long time. honestly i wish i have never read the harry potter books so that way i can read them again and go through that wonderful experience all over again! but more that that i wish it was all real, which is why im soooooo excited about the theme park! its like it would be real to sooooooo many harry potter fans! how awsome is that gonna be!

Posted by Hermoine13 Jan 1st 2008

This year had to be the best year ever. The final Harry potter book, the 5th harry potter movie. Best year ever!!!!!!!!!!!! 2008 here we come. I can't wait for those new projects!

Posted by love_padfoot Jan 2nd 2008

to The_Elder_Wand, i agree most definatly. for i cried during and after the most amazing book in the world, i will never feel the way i have felt b4 a harry potter book came out, ever again.................... .......

Posted by love_padfoot Jan 2nd 2008

to superfish- i agree 100%!!!!!!!!!!! honestly i felt the same way when i finally got the book(which was the day it was realesed, just not at 12 in the morning). at first i felt like "YES ITS FINALLY MINE!!!" and that i cant wait to start reading it(which was right that second)!!!!! then once i was reading, crying, and morning the deaths of the characters. i mourned some more, but this time for the series itself, cuase IT WAS FINALLY OVER! and it was sooooooooo hard to feel that, that huge sinking painful feeling in your heart. and thats all i could say for a week, :its over, its really over...." but in the comment posting area you'll see my explanations and a few shout outs or disscussions about it, and then hopfully you will realize like i finally did, that yes it is over, but not really............ for i know for me and so many others, that it will remain in our hearts forever! and when i have kids, im going to pass my series down, but make them wait just like i had to, and tell them all the rumors i heard......... so really we arent letting the series die.......we are just finishing and getting it ready for the next generation of us. the next harry potter fans. good luck to you all! AND LONG LIVE HARRY POTTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!! FOR EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by hpmonkeyaround92 Jan 6th 2008

WOW it is already 2008.... OMG it has been "the Year Of Potter" and my first year of being a strong fan of it, even though i have been reading them since they came out!!!! pickles to all mugglecast listeners
