ITV offers final sneak peak at JKR documentary
ITV has sent us a final clip from the upcoming documentary "JK Rowling... A Year in the Life." It shows Jo drawing out the family trees for both the Potters and the Weasleys. AS SHE REVEALS STRUGGLE TO LET HER HERO GO
JK Rowling has revealed that after seventeen years engrossed in the Hogwarts world she created, it was almost impossible to let go of her hero Harry and his friends, so much so that she has mapped out their futures in a family tree.
But, she insists that the stories of these characters, their relationships and their children, will remain locked in her imagination, ruling out a further sequel in the Harry Potter saga.
In the ITV1 documentary JK Rowling…A Year in the Life, transmitting Sunday 30th December at 7pm, Jo reveals how she felt compelled to plan the futures of all the surviving characters, and draws out the Weasley/Potter family tree.
"I can't help it," says Jo. "You know what it was like, it was like running a race, and you get to the finishing line and you're running too fast to stop, so I do know what happened afterwards and I couldn't stop my imagination doing that.
"So I know this sounds an awful lot of detail to go into for your own satisfaction and not because you're planning to write more books, but that's just how it was I couldn't stop, I had to know – I had to know what happened next."
Jo was filmed exclusively by James Runcie for the documentary. As a fellow author, James emphasises that writers always have to know more detail than is actually used when writing a book. Jo responds: "Yes and I carried that on into another generation."
James asks if this whole new generation of characters means more Hogwarts books could be written, but Jo rules out a further sequel.
"So all of that could be another book?" said James.
Hesitantly Jo replied: "Yeah,…don't, don't, don't, it can't be. I think no, it's time to stop, it's time to stop now.
"It gives me a certain satisfaction to say what I thought happened and to tell other people that, because I would like my version to be the official version still, even though I've not written it in a book, because it's my world."
Jo drew out the family tree exclusively for the documentary and explained what happened to the young friends, so fans can learn their fate.
She runs through the Weasley children one by one and explains where she sees them in life now, and also touches on the future of Luna Lovegood.
The documentary also follows Jo on a private jet with her husband Neil as they travel to the US for the eagerly anticipated final book tour.
She speaks in depth about what influenced her writing, notably the death of her mother and how this seeped into every aspect of the books, and why she felt Harry had to triumph in the end.

I really like the time turner at the door. You can turn it back to an important date and see what was in there on that day. Tres sweet. I like the name Lily Luna. It has a nice ring to it. She definitely seemed like she could be pushed into writing more as well. :D

mmmm. when will JKR and the collective fandom accept that the HarryPotter project was finished at the day she grafitied a bust at the Balmoral Hotel? Please no more piecemeal info and canon, bottle the whole up for "Teh Scottish Book" and bury all other bubbles and idea's in a big box for the next generation to sort out. Same was done with Tolkiens libary of notes, this is too much at risk to be resulting in " the Son of....." And that type of sequeal never had the same magic as the original hero. JKR is too much busy to polish a shining trophy that is already shiny, too much polishing and you get holes in that goblet.

wow pretty cool. i didn't know fred and angelina actaully went out, and now she's married to george..kinda unhealthy as jo said, imagine if she accidentaly called him fred? that would be really upsetting...poor georgie. and why is she so interested in al? and i want to hear what happend to teddy. and charlie the bachelor.

Just finished watching the documentary. Jo truly is a wonderful person - really humble and down to earth. Don't think the money has changed her personality, only made her life easier. Great that she's given so much away to needy causes. I cried with her when she went back to her old flat. Her husband is really sweet too. Nice to see her baking a birthday cake in her kitchen at home. Could watch this programme over and over. My hubby (not a HP fan) is now converted and might even read the books! Hope this will be aired in the US soon.

OMG... I've just finished watching the documentary and I have all tears around my eyes, some still falling down from my cheeks... I would really like to be with Jo while she was crying in her old apartment; I felt the same feelings while she was talking about the death of her mother, which also happened to me one year ago... I think Jo is a blessing for all the children and for the charities she's been donating. What a person could do better than what she is doing now? I got absolutely all my tears finally down when I saw her sitting at her table and still writing for something, maybe another phenomenon at the end of the documentary. OMG, I have lots of thing to tell - firstly I should thank to TPTB who got the idea to make such kind of a documentary of Jo, and then to Jo for revealing a one year in her life in such kindness, such polite. I want to bake her a cake as a thanks for the Potter series, and for being such kind of a personality that will be a great sample for me in my future life. I'm saying to bake her a cake because this is what I can do the best and Jo, be sure, I am well at cooking dessert. She is like another mother for me, what she says, what she does, what she lives is like my mother... Oh I love you Jo, I love you, what can I say more... I wish I will meet with you somewhere in the near future, not in order to meet with the famous Potter author, but as one of my famous author and a friend of mine, or a sis of mine (I can't say to be my aunt, because I don't think you are that much old).
It will probably be like Equus. Let's wait many months and see (here in the U.S.).
