Deathly Hallows film to be split in two parts?
UPDATE: Empire Online is now quoting WB as saying "no decision has been made," in part because no script exists yet. Steve Kloves cannot begin work on the Deathly Hallows script because of the US writer's strike. We'll let you know more once we hear it! Several visitors have sent in this article from the Daily Mail, which claims crews working on Half-Blood Prince have been told the final film will be split:
A film source said: "There's so much to fit that the view is the last movie should be in two halves. There is a huge battle when Harry, played by Daniel Radcliffe, takes on Voldemort that needs to be done really well."
What's more, the Daily Mail claims that big name directors such as Steven Spielberg are being considered to direct Deathly Hallows. We'll look into this rumor and let you know what Warner Brothers has to say!

Er!!!!!!!!!!!
These MuggleCasters are mean. We wait 8 days more than we are meant to and all they can do is poat a link that doesn't work.
I doubt they'd make two films - ultimately WB is in this to make money, and they will lose most of their non-fan movie-goers. I also agree with the Empire article which questioned whether there would be enough material for two separate films - I'd rather just sit through one four-hour one. Plus the fact that if it's two films, they'll charge you for two films! And I really hope Spielberg doesn't direct. He's great at big, blockbuster stuff but I feel he lacks the subtlety required for DH - I'd much rather see Alfonso Cuaron have another go, or Guillermo del Toro, who has been making noises about it and did such an amazing job of Pan's Labyrinth ...
I don't have much intrest in the actual article - it's a long way away from DH. But I do care about MuggleCast. Are you listening you MuggleCasters. YOUR LINK DOESN'T WORK PUT A NEW ONE UP AND PUT IT ON iTUNES. I'VE WAITED 15 DAYS AND I CAN'T WAIT MUCH LONGER!!!!!
i 'm running out of time.......put the right link up!
Whenever it does get up, I'll have to stop listening at 7:00 (It's 6:10 now) which is a bummer as I wanted it to be out at 5:00, like it normally is. I'll only (maybe) be able to listen to 30 mins of it ... or less.
whoop! Cool! : )
Re-read the entry on MuggleCast's page, it says MOST LIKELY Monday evening. They probably move it even further to tommorrow. But giving us that dead link was simply rude
That's good guys! : )
I ope they split it into two parts! It's the only way to due the book justice-- plus it will make them more money, so why wouldn't they?

Whoo mugglecast 127 is out!
Hey i dont know.....abt this im all for having everything in the movies cuz they always like cut half the book but like everyone is saying we have to wait a year to c the complete book but im all for it if steven is the director cuz then he will end it in a very good way
Yeah they said that it would be done in two parts in MX (A paper in Melbourne city) so that they could do the movie justice because people kept complaining. Apparently Spielburg could be directing.
I think its a wonderful idea to make two halves. BUT! each half should be about 3-4 hours long with a 20-30 min intermission in between. If the first half is relesed tehn months and months later the second comes out the film will have lost its magic and peopl either wont remember thefirst one, or only go to tthe last one to see the fight. If they do 2 movies, they MUST be shown on the same day. and i agree with many of the people above in saying, Alfonso, the director of Azkaban would be perfect for the mood of Deathly Hallows.
morning people!!!
i don't think they should split it, i mean, first of all what are they going to call the second part? H.P. 7 and a half? I don't think so. it would be good if they could make it nice and detailed though, but really, they should be able to that in one movie.
morning beckyy! whts upp?
nothing much!! how are you doing??

oh ohk byee!
i have a love hate relationship with the wga...on one hand i want to kill them and on the other hand i love their writing and they would be useless if they were dead
is nobody ever here when i'm on?
I'm a little late on commmenting about this but thought i would write to say i actually like the idea of two halves. I would rather have 2 halves than them leave something out in the movie. as long as they do a good job its fine with me...i am more of a book person myself. can't wait till it comes out! hope Chris comes back!
WE WANT 7! DH in two movie's is just wrong. 3 1/2 hours movie = EXCELLENT!
PETER JACKSON FOR DH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - ...i mean, hi cheesecakes
cheeeesecakes?
hey spew!
I think it's a bad idea to split it into two just for the nonbook readers's sake. They are already getting anoyed with how many movies there are lol. But, for a book readers sake, like me, I think that if they want to do the book and series justice, they HAVE to make it into two. They just have to. Every event in that book was sooo important. The only thing I can see them trim is the forest scenes. That's it. Everything else happens for a reason and connects.
hi rob! how are you?
good! im about to see what i got on my test!
great, what test? i'm really happy right now because i've been stressing about this monster test in AP Physics that's 10% of our grade, but I just realized I could not take it AT ALL and still get an 85% for the term, which would give me an A on my transcript! ahhhhhh i feel a lot better now ...
congrats! man they havent put it on yet if i get a good grade my grade will raise to an a and then ill have a ll a's!
I think it's a really bad idea to split the film. By doing this, they would have to release two DVD sets, and the book isn't written to be filmed in two halves. They would have a real hard time finding the right area to cut it down the middle. As for Spielberg, rumors were that he would have turned it into an American school if he got the role for the first one, and it's set in Scotland, not America. I would prefer to have Chris Columbus back, as he started the whole series. He found the trio, without whom I doubt the films would have been as good. He found the original Dumbledore. He did great jobs with casting, and he kept to the books most out of all the directors to date.
oooh great! hey my sis needs the computer, I'll be back in 15 min or so i think.
400!
