I don't like the paperbacks mainly because they tend to tear more easily I prefer the Hardback editions becuase they dont get damaged as easily!!!
Me too,Aisling! Even though tey ae more expensive.Hey! third?
I know what you mean with the paperbacks being fragile! Just two days ago I managed to rip Goblet of Fire right in half, now I am re-reading the whale-sized hardback edition instead. I hope the paperback of Half-Blood Prince is less fragile, but I doubt it...I suppose it is difficult not to be with such huge books.
I prefer the paperback editions. My hardback editions are falling apart!
ooh! paperback! that's great! ^^
Cool but why does paperback come out a year later? its no fair! then again, paperbacks have the habit of breaking their spines in half ha ha ha ha ha!
I won't be buying it but I know people who are (some of them haven't read HBP yet and have managed to avoid spoilers!) I have no preference for hardbacks or paperbacks. I have the early books in paperback but GOF onwards in hardback.
oh i'm gonna buy one! :)
ok, now i
my full comment didn't post!!! I was GOING to say that as much as I LOVE my hardback HBP, i can't wait for the paperback to come out mainly due to the fact that the paperback will be easier to read (note the lack of pages falling out...)
The only reason i buy a paperback is 2 take it on holiday with me, so i dont damage my hardback.
I love paperbacks. I'm a loser. I have four hard copies of each book, three paperback copies of each book, and two special edition versions for each book. 'Tis obsession, my friends. I can't wait to get it!
£3.50 in Asda! bargain!!
It seems amazing to me that it has almost been a YEAR since HBP came out! Ahhhhh! I have to say that I prefer the hardback version......considering that my first-third books are in paper back and are in several different pieces, (from my constant obssesion of reading them!) the hardbacks seem more likely to stay intact!
Wow. The UK gets something over a month before the US. This is one for the record books! Just kidding! I must reread HBP again soon. Haven't read it for over 6 months. Bad me!
That's awesome! 20?
can you buy the UK paperback edition here in the states? i have the hard back and paperbacks of the US versions but after listening to mugglecast decided that i would rather read the UK version as she wrote it.
hmmm cool
My hardback GoF has pages falling out so it doesn't just happen to the paperbacks.
yeah my GoF and Ootp hardbacks are falling apart too. They've seen a alot of love
wow, but i'm gonna have to order of the net 'cause don't really like the American series to much. my mom has the 1,2,3,4 in paperbake and 'cause i have read and loved them so much they are all falling apart got to buy thet hard covers! :P
YEAH but i want book 7
I ordered the HBP in paperback and the Order of the Phoenix in paperback a while ago... they should be shipped about June 28th-30th to me. I have the other four UK versions in paperback as well. My friend Kevin bought all six in hardback which are pretty awesome too!
I'd rather have hardbacks, they're more durable ... but I might buy the paperback to save my hardback HBP. I was thinking about buying the whole lot in paperback (they've all seen a lot of love), but I'll just wait and see. But I think I'll buy HBP in paperback at least. Then I'll have something to write all my theories and ideas in.
I prpefer hardbacks... in 20 years you still want to have a book to read not a pile of mush. The hardbacks are also more memorable I guess.. i cant explain it.
sa-weet ive never read a british version ive heard that they changed more from british to american in the first few books then they got more lax about it w/ the more recent ones.
sweet........I wish my mom would let me have all the books in hardback and paperback. She thinks it's a waste of money. Nothing HP is a waste of $$.
That's cool, I guess.
That's cool, but I'm sticking with my hardback books. I don't have the problem with pages falling out and I reread constantly.
hmmmm, maybe i'll buy a copy just cause i seem to have misplaced my HBP book :-( *tear*
all books fall apart if read too vigorously. My HBP's spine broke recently because i read it a hell of a lot. But my paper back's haven't fallen apart yet? I wonder. But you Brits are lucky!
that's cool. i'll probably get the paperback, since i'm short on cash right now for the hardcover edition!
Yeay! I'll always get paperbacks if I can, other wise I would be in the poor house (do they have those any more?) I have 2 sets of the potter books. One in English and the other in Russian (don't ask). The Russian ones are hard cover and the English ones are paper back up to 4 and hardcover for 5 and 6. I have PS in the british edition and the american. and I have all of the books on tape too (I've listened to the a bazillion times and some of the tapes are starting to fall apart!) I've just put book 5 on my iPod a few days ago. It took so long to load. But now I'll have something to do wile I'm in moose land Minnesota:)
I saw SS at the book store in spanish........my mom wouldn't let me get it though cuz I got a "satisfactory" last marking period
the hardcovers may be a little more expensive, but they hold up longer and they wont rip in half. I always get the hardback..
I was going to wait for the paperback edition before buying HBP...but that didn't happen. It's the only one of the books I don't have in paperback...I'm always afraid I'll damage the jacket...the beautiful green jacket...the ever-so-entrancing jacket...mmm, the jacket...sorry... TOMROHT
mm thats wierd i seem to find that my paperback books such as chronicles of narnia fall apart more easily the only hardback book of mine that fell apart was the GOF but thats my favorite book and ive only read ti fivty million times!
Um, Samantha_Weasley, what bookstore was that? I've been looking for a Spanish edition... TOMROHT
Hm... well, I'm actually quite surprised so many people care about the edition of a book when I really don't care whether it's hardback or paperback I have, I just need the text to read! Maybe it's only because I don't have many options - living in Moscow it's tough to get a newly-released book in a short period of time so I'm madly happy with any edition, really... Though if I did have a choice, I guess I'd prefer a paperback for one only reason that it's cheaper. I want to read the book and I don't really care what it looks like and whether it's in a hard cover or not and I really don't want to waste my money on Paper.
I simply like hardbacks better because they come out first! It would be neat to have different editions, but I'm nearly broke.
thick books arent the same in paperback
well i have one two and three in paperback, but only because i didn't buy them, but i like hard cover alot better
paperback is cool and all... but i
i like the UK version SO much more... i have all my books that edition, because the US ones are changed... like instead of saying "jumper" they say "sweater" and so i always get the UK versions
its cool....but i really like the Hardbacks more than the Paperbacks. just cause they stay looking better longer....but now ive GOT to read HBP again!!! i havent read it since it came out! like, what?, 7 months ago?? lol
Hmmm, didn't we get em in Australia last year? somehow I don't think so but still, it seems a bit late. BTW still in contemplation about whether I prefer Hardbacks or Paperbacks. Hardbacks are good for not getting damaged in school bags and bags an stuff, but paperbacks are flexible so that can be good for fitting it into a tight spot, meh i dunno. And to all ppl whose books are falling apart, yes i realise you read them alot (I'd be reading mine if my Dad hadn't stole it and lost it *sniff*) but maybe you just have to be a bit more gental, and to all those spine-benders, STOP BENDING THE SPINES! IT'S SOOOOOOOO NOT GOOD FOR YOUR BOOKS! Geez kids in my class do it......it makes me cringe.
I can't help but think that HBP should always be a hardback... just a feeling.
Awesome!
cool...i guess. i dont really have a preference because even though my CoS book is hardback, it has completely fallen apart and theres like 5 different pieces! and my SS/PS is paperback and its still in pretty good condition...
im not really 2 fussed about paperback/hardback. I JUST WANT BK 7!!!!!!!!!!!
