HBP Mix: No Fiennes, McCrory Filming, Crew in Norway
HBP Mix: No Fiennes, McCrory Filming, Crew in Norway A few stories relating to the production of Half-Blood Prince have appeared online today.

- Ralph Fiennes, the actor who plays Lord Voldemort in the Potter films, has revealed in an interview with Ain't It Cool News that he won't be appearing in the sixth film. When asked about if he is signed for Deathly Hallows, he says "not yet."

- On ITV's This Morning, Damian Lewis (Helen McCrory's husband) revealed that Helen is filming her scenes as Narcissa Malfoy this week. Damian said she was "extremely excited" and is following blogs that are also excited.

- Lastly, a newspaper in Norway reports on some scenic filming being done in a small village called Bjorli. The crew is filming shots that will be used outside of the Hogwarts Express. With big thanks Karen, you can read a loose translation of the article at the link below.

In many days a filmteam consisting of 20 people has plowed the snowy village - secretly.

-Perfect! We have gotten the takes we need. Now we're going to film the rest in studio, filmphotograph Charlie Woodburn (34) tells.

While the others in the team turned their back to the journalists before the weekend, Woodburn could confirm that it is the ''plowingedges'' (bad english by me) from Bjorli and Lesjaskog that will be seen through the trainwindows in Scotland, when Harry Potter & Co again is on their way to Hogwarts, in ''Harry Potter and the Halfblood-Prince.

With their own helicopter whipping over the treetops, and from big platforms monterd on vans, have the filmphotographers secured the snow-takes from Lesjabygda. Many have reacted on the lowflying helicopter.

Pleased

On Bjorligard Hotel before the weekend nobody was allowed to say anything. Early in the afternoon all filmequipment was packed. In a haste, the british filmmakers left the touristvillage in which dutyfulfilling people has held the team hidden.

-We waited for two months for snow in Scotland. But it was not winter before we came to Bjorli, Charlie Woodburn tells.

Even though he's only 34 years, he's experienced in the moviebusiness. With the exception of one film, he has been on board for every single of the Harry Potter-productions. His name is strongly connected to movies like ''Black Hawk Down'' and ''Bridget Jones Diary''.

He thinks that the Harry Potter-movie will be finished 'til Christmas.

Charlie has been responsible for all takes from the air. He is especially happy with the filming over Lesjaskogsvatnet (a freshwater) Thursday he filmed a lot from the helicopter on the extension between Bjorli and Åndalsnes.

On Lesja the filmpeople has used a big movingvan with windows like in a traincompartment. When the Harry Potter-movie comes, it's the snow on Bjorli that flashes past.

AHH no ralph fiennes?!?!? number 1!

Posted by lunalovegoodsnumberonefan Mar 4th 2008

Well i wouldn't expect Ralph Fiennes to portray Voldemort in the HBP,since alot of it is the young Voldemort's past, and finding out about his horcruxes. But he has to be in Deathly Hallows, cause that is the book of the Harry and Voldemort confrontation. I don't know if it wise to get someone else to play Voldemort at this stage in the films, since he has been in them since the Goblet Of Fire, and people are now use to him playing the resurrected Voldemort.

Posted by 1NymphadoraTonks1 Mar 4th 2008

Aw No Ralph as Voldemort! :( I wonder what he means when he says "not yet" Do DH? How can Voldemort now be im DH. That just wouldn't make any sence.

Posted by christianaeg Mar 4th 2008

interesting... does this mean the scene where Volemort asks Dumbledore for the DADA job will be cut?? it's soo important! now we know that LV hid the horcrux before/after the interview... Sigh. they'll probably come up with some explaination though.

Posted by randomchat Mar 4th 2008

Are we shocked that Fiennes isn't in the film?

Posted by tiassa Mar 4th 2008

well they can do without him for HBP. Umm why cant the shots outside the Hogwarts express be shot at shot at Britain?Don't they have better things to do with the budget other then that?Nothing against Norway,I just dont see the point.

Posted by luvmesomeluna Mar 4th 2008

hmm, i dont think its a HUGE deal that he isnt in HBP, being that its mostly the younger Voldemort we see as mentioned above. however, he must be in DH. Fiennes is the perfect Voldemort.

Posted by HpAlwaysN4ever Mar 4th 2008

It's kind of funny that Voldemort isn't in a HP film :P

Posted by HermioneIsMyHero27 Mar 4th 2008

omg I really hope that Ralph Fiennes will be playing Voldemort in the 7th movie. It wouldn't be nearly as good if they got a different actor.

Posted by cerberadragon Mar 4th 2008

No Ralph Fiennes? *sob* He was fantastic! I mean, I hate voldemort, but he played him perfectly. Gah!

Posted by Gryffindor_Seeker Mar 4th 2008

NO VOLDEMORT!??!?! BUT I LOVE HIM, HES MY FAVE CHARACTER!!

Posted by Luke Mar 4th 2008

Don't get confused with the actor and the character. We've already been told that they've cast younger Voldermort actors. The character will definitely make an appearance, Raph Fiennes however will not.

Posted by hogwartshottie20 Mar 4th 2008

i understand that much of voldermort's part in HBP is just him growing up, but i still seem to remember some "grown-up" voldermort, too! what are they doing in HBP? theres so many characters/plots cut!!! do they really expect they can cut out the gaunts? they're one of the most important parts.... im afraid that's where this is heading!

Posted by mugglehp Mar 4th 2008

NO RALPH FIENNES >:o I'M WELL GUTTED. THE MOVIE WONT BE THE SAME. HE WAS PERFECT FOR VOLDEMORT, HE DID HIM GREAT JUSTICE :'( WHAT A DOWNER. i'm sure whoever they find will make the movie just as amazing :) hopefully. Natasha, Hull xxxxx

Posted by RoseMclane Mar 4th 2008

@christianaeg 21 - They don't have to cut that scene. Voldermort was still young then, he wasn't as old and snake -like as the current Voldermort.

Posted by CFplayer19 Mar 4th 2008

im soooo excited 2 c what they do w/ this movie! hopefully they're making the right choses!

Posted by randomchat Mar 4th 2008

There are scarcely any Fiennes-Voldemort parts in the book, as far as I can remember.

Posted by Phoenix_Lovegood Mar 4th 2008

Aww noo! I know that having Ralph Fiennes in HBP wouldn't be any use seeing that all of the Voldemort scenes are all flashbacks, but still! I will miss seeing him in this film! He BETTER be in DH!! Fiennes is the PERFECT Voldemort!

Posted by Shaun05 Mar 4th 2008

The oldest bit of Voldemort we see is when he's in Dumbledore's office... and even then he doesn't look exactly like the adult Voldemort we know now.

Posted by muggleborn23 Mar 4th 2008

He has to be in the 7th one. And i who will be the person who plays riddle when he like is grown up though like when he goes back to Dumbledore. Butt still I guess they could cut that out but...

Posted by snapeluver1777 Mar 4th 2008

he obviously will be in the 7th film, but as for the 6th no worries about that he is just talked about not really needed

Posted by yuvalavrami Mar 4th 2008

THANKS KAREN!!! (:

Posted by hpaddict88 Mar 4th 2008

S-WEEEEETTT!!! cant wait!!

Posted by hplvr92 Mar 4th 2008

I thought they would use him for the DADA job scene, or maybe they just cut that scene all together. I don't think there is any need to worry about him being back for DH, they would be completely insane to get a different Voldemort at this stage. It's neat about Helen McCrory being so excited about filming. I can't wait to see her portrayal of Narcissa.

Posted by kmm3792 Mar 4th 2008

No Voldemort? WTF?!

Posted by purplgirl123 Mar 4th 2008

no Ralph Fiennes wtf! I wonder if hes going to cop out with the last two now?! Or if he hasn't just been signed yet, which is kind of hard to believe!

Posted by slugclubgirl77 Mar 4th 2008

Voldemort is going to be in the movie. He is just going to be the young voldemort. So they wouldn't need Ralph Fiennes. i hope he does deathly hallows though (;

Posted by Padfoot777 Mar 4th 2008

Of course he won't be in it, he was not a the ambush at Hogwarts. Only younger Riddles do you see in HBP.

Posted by brunetteginny Mar 4th 2008

ok, no ralph in 6 (i understand, its all young voldy... except maybe the interview scene.... ah they can't cut it!) but he better be in seven... also, I can't believe the gaunts are being cut. ahhhrrgggg. i have a feeling i am going to hate this movie.

Posted by ambulance Mar 4th 2008

WB, I will trust your judgement on not casting Fiennes for HBP (only because I'm in a very good mood today)-- HOWEVER.... You would think that he'd at LEAST be in the top 5 of people being signed on to do Deathly Hallows.

Posted by starlette804 Mar 4th 2008

I REALLY hope they do NOT change Voldemort for the 7th film. We all know Ralph Fiennes as Voldemort. Anyone else would just absolutely RUIN the last movie.

Posted by gandalfxj9 Mar 4th 2008

OOOO I can't believe their filming in Norway!! That place is the most BEAUTIFUL place in the world. And there's a lot of beautiful places in the world lol.

Posted by Kself482 Mar 4th 2008

NOOOOOOOOO! They can't cut Ralph Fiennes! He is the most attractive British actor of all time! I mean, ever since Schindler's List, I've been hooked! And he's an amazing actor! Pfft, he can do better without 'em anyway. (:

Posted by angelina_johnson92 Mar 4th 2008

Yay! I love news about the film. I think it was pretty obvious that Ralph Fiennes wouldn't be in the movie. I mean there wern't even any scenes of him in the book.

Posted by hp4747 Mar 4th 2008

well, DUHHH!!!!!! why would they put him in the movie when he was never in the sixth book.

Posted by crookshanks800 Mar 4th 2008

Fiennes said he hasn't signed for the last film YET, which probably means he's holding out for the big bucks.

Posted by Bellatrix_25225 Mar 4th 2008

WHAT THE HECK! No Fiennes in HBP?! Gah!!!!!!!

Posted by halfbloodprincess96 Mar 4th 2008

i don't care that the full grown voldemort is not in hbp, because he is not in the book at all(weird, huh) but, no gaunts, that is kinda weird, seeing as they are the first memory, they need to be there. without the gaunts, there will have to be some other link to voldemorts past in the movie. i just hope yates does not end up directing dh. he will totally ruin it. and as for the dude who plays voldemort not being signed YET, there is a catch in the yet. he does not have to be signed on the movie just now because they are not even done with hbp.

Posted by i_am_hermione Mar 4th 2008

Okay, well I second just about everything halfbloodprincess96 just said, except that I didn't know about the Gaunts not being in it!! That doesn't make any sense. Also, the grammar was terrible in that article. There were all these words that were combined that shouldn't have been, like movingvan. And Halfblood-Prince should have been Half-blood Prince. Do they speak English in Norway?

Posted by Wizard4243 Mar 4th 2008

Well I just got finnished with reading hbp last week for like the thousandth time. I feel that not having fennies in the movie would be ight because its mostly flashbacks of his yunger self any way.

Posted by rooon Mar 4th 2008

darn- thats weird! : )

Posted by Hermownninny15 Mar 4th 2008

WHAT?! Well okay... maybe he doesn't have such a big part in the 6th one but he HAS to be in the 7th movie. if he isn't there i'm not watching it. ralph fiennes is the best person for the roll of voldemort. he did a wonderful job at it. he has got to be there!

Posted by phoenixknight Mar 4th 2008

OH MY GOD U PPL, READ THE FREAKIN' BOOK! THERE IS NO ADULT VOLDEMORT IN HALF-BLOOD PRINCE... I REPEAT THERE IS NO ADULT VOLDEMORT IN HBP! THE SCENE WITH HIM AND DUMBLEDORE IS WHEN HE WAS 20 YEARS OLD, AND NEWLY CALLED VOLDEMORT, BUT STILL VERY YOUNG. IT WOULD BE STUPID FOR RALPH FIENNES TO PORTRAY A 20 YEAR OLD YOUNG MAN, C'MON PPL, THINK!

how can they do a harry potter movie without voldemort?!?!

Posted by phoenixknight Mar 4th 2008

crazy20yzarc06 , omg, i'm not even gonna say anything.... *sighs*

Posted by xLuna_Lovegoodx Mar 4th 2008

Ok... so I can see how there would be no Ralph in movie 6, because there really isnt anything much about the adult Voldemort in 6. BUT HE MUST BE IN DH! It would be so horrible to have someone different play Voldemort just when its the most important part!!! No. He must be in DH.

Posted by BeeHermione Mar 4th 2008

Fiennes is a fantastic Voldemort. I don't know how he does it. He can really get you to hate him. A lot. The spine-tingling, goosebump-inducing, blood-boiling kind.

Posted by MagdaleneRose Mar 4th 2008

well..... I was rather upset about this "no voldemort" in HBP, until I realized, that there was just no "grown-up" voldemort in the book. the only times that he does show up is in the memories that DUmbledore is sharing with Harry. so just because Ralph is not in HBP does not mean that Voldemprt is not there. and he probably has not been confirmed for DH because it is still a movie away, and anything could happen by then. hopefully Bill and Charlie are casted and Fleur comes back.
