Glad to see that perhaps we've *finally* stopped referring to this project as the "Harry Potter theme park". I've been afraid folks are going to show up at Islands of Adventure (as opposed to USF) expecting an entire Potter-themed park, when it will be just one (fairly large) section of an existing park. Still, the idea of eating a meal in the Great Hall has intrigued me for a long time, with all those great descriptions of the food in the books. I know it won't be the same, but eventually I'm sure we'll visit the park. I love IoA already.

Don't trust ANYTHING Jim Hill says. He's notorious for reporting supposed "true" developments at both Disney Parks and Universal parks that more than 90% of the time never come true.

O.O...what the...they're remodeling the dueling dragons ride?! That's one of the best rides at Islands of Adventure! Are they also gunna take out the Great Oaks cafe as well? D :< Gosh....*is totally not happy about this* But still...I am happy about the Harry Potter theme park being built....-_-

It's unlikely that the ride itself will be changed significantly at Dueling Dragons. What we're much more likely to see is theming changes in the queue area, maybe some changes to the way the trains themselves are decorated, and maybe some changes in the exterior decorations. (Although if you've been on DD, you know that the ride is so crazy you're never looking much at what's around you.) As for the Enchanted Oak - given its location, it's also more likely to be kept mostly intact with a few theming changes. After all, it already includes the Alchemy Bar, and we all know that HP is an alchemical tale. Personally, I hope that the major attraction ("Project Strongarm") is something other than a flying car ride. That bit of story was not much beyond a brief bit of comic relief. I'd prefer to see something that was more central to the story line.

Dueling Dragons has one of the best (okay, longest) queue lines I've ever been through, and it kills me that some day in the future I'll have to walk through it when it's all Potter crap. It's one thing to add Potter to the park, sure, that's great! Good news for Universal, maybe they'll actually turn a profit after it opens. But why would you mess with the one of the best theme park rides in the world? Dragons are already a part of the Potter world, and so is Merlin (referring to the Oak Tavern). Just re-do the first room when you enter the castle, make it some two mythical dragons from Potter world, and then carry on! Cheap, and it'll make current fans very cheerful. Sorry to seem so down on the whole thing, but I've had an annual pass for almost 7 years. I know both parks very well, and I hate what they've done to the Studios, like Kong being long gone, Earthquake, Hanna Barbera, and Back to the Future not quite "gone," since they've been essentially revamped into new but the same rides and changed pretty thoroughly. It makes me kind of territorial when it comes to rides I like.
