Dame Maggie Smith battling cancer
Dame Maggie Smith battling cancer The Telegraph reported today that Dame Maggie Smith (Prof. McGonagall) is fighting a private battle with breast cancer. "She is dealing with it in her typically brave and understated way," says a friend of hers. "She has had a tumour removed and subsequently completed a course of chemotherapy. This was precautionary and the prognosis looks good. The last thing she wants to do is to make a fuss about it."

The article continues, stating that "the 73-year-old Oscar winner insisted on going ahead with filming her role as Minerva McGonagall in the latest installment of the Harry Potter series last month even as she was undergoing radiation therapy."

Our hearts go out to Maggie and her family. We wish her a speedy recovery.

I want Maggie to do well, I think she is the one of my fav. British actors I enjoy any movie she is in, I feel selfish by saying this but as she is the only one who I feel can play McGonicgall, it would be sad with out her, I still feel selfish saying Richard Harris is greatly missed. I know with my faith when people die they truely are still with us, but still can we help missing them. Saddly we feel actors and actresses should live forever and are not free to be human. But it's the ones we really love we miss the most. Perhaps this is the sadness we feel. Anyway, It is good to see she is being so strong, I hope she wins her fight and her health continues, Maggie you are greatly loved, I hope some how she feels that love. She is in our hearts and prayers. Love, From California

I know this might seem silly and perhaps the staff of Muggle Net might not have any way to do this but I think if it was possible all these get well post for Maggie Smith should some how maybe be, copy, pasted and sent to her. It would be awsome if that was possible. Just my idea, as I have been so touched to read all these great post praising and honoring her. Anyway, I already posted my own get well, but I just wanted to add this extra thought. I think too it is so brave of her to be so faithful to the HP movie that even though she is ill she still works. It tells you more of who she really is, as I said before I have always liked her as an actress even in movies I did not know she was in I could not help but smile when I saw her in them, she just seemed make those movies better then if she had not been in them. I too when I read the HP books saw her and only her as McGonagall. So of course when she was casted it was almost like a "of course who else would it have been" type of reaction for me. So anyway, it would just be neat if this big greeting card could be done up with all our get wells here from Muggle Net put in it.:), once again love from California

I tell you, that dragon's the most horrible animal I've ever met, but the way Hagrid goes on about it, you'd think it was a fluffly little bunny rabbit. When it bit me, he told me off for frightening it. And when I left, he was singing it a lullaby.
