Here are some of the key points mentioned:
- She is well into writing Book 7 now.
- Although she still has the final chapter of Book 7 stored away in a safe, it has been altered slightly: Two more people have kicked the can while another has gotten a reprieve.
- Jo originally wrote this chapter in 1990. By doing so, she says some people have found her to be arrogant as she didn't have a publisher at the time.
- It was suggested to her that she would have good reason to kill Harry off in Book 7 so that no one could write sequels to the book when she's finished.
- She concedes having "boxed herself in" by writing certain minor plot details in earlier books, which now means she has to spend a great deal of time explaining or tying up.
- For the first three books, she says she was in denial about her success and fame "like a rabbit caught in headlights." Although she found them "cool," she says it was also peculiar to see casual references to Harry Potter in the press.
- Her daughter Jessica has dealt magnificently with the effects her mother's fame has had on her, such as kids at school pestering her for the title of upcoming books.
- Richard suggested dating was tricky because some people might only show an interest in her because of her wealth, but she said it was being a single mother that made it hard.
- If she saw a Boggart, she would see what Mrs. Weasley saw in Book 5: her children deceased.

so. basically. this was amazing. jo interviews make me so happy!!!
Wow. I really like the inter view tho the questions were awful! They were about Jo..not Harry! Eek! Lol. Well I'm like super-excited for the book but then again..I'm dreading it because then..it's over..over..OVER! *sob* Twins won't die. I don't think. But Jo like to twist things & thats why I like her. If one of the trio dies..It'll be Hermione..no dought. Who agrees? && of COURSE we'd all like to see Emma die! (INN THE MOVIES OF COURSE..NOT IN REAL LIFE) Emma..being as dramatic as she is..would make a wonderful death?!? Who agrees? (PS-THIS IS TOTALLY PERSONAL OPINION)
yah, ok that was a great interview i liked it, and im really interested in the story when u said harry might die!!!!! cause u didnt wont the other book writters out there to copy r ideas i toltaly understand, i was just sayin cause harry is my favorite character, just keep us posted.....seah
OK, I KNOW what is going to happen regarding the deaths! The two other people who are going to die are Ron and Hermione, and Voldemort will get the reprieve. What do you all think? Just kidding, that would be terrible. It would be funny though if Voldy gets off.
Now this is just me, but I can really see her killing off Hermione. She seems to kill off the people who help Harry the most. Also, killing off Hermione might drive a wedge between Harry and Ron in some way. Harry Has to be alone at the end, and that'd be one way of assuring Ron won't be there at the end, aside from killing him too. Hagrid will probly go too. That would have a tremendous emotional impact on the reader and I can see JK getting a kick out of that. Just kill Crabe & Goyle. They're pretty much useless anyway.
Okay, I can't see the interview because I can't download things on this computer (doesn't belong to me, long story) but from what other people have commented it seems like an interesting interview. I'm REALLY nervous about the two people that are going to die. At first I thought it would be Ron and Hermione (then there would be three deaths because I would die, too) but then I noticed that her husband was only shocked about ONE of the deaths. Still, it could be either one of them! I'm SO scared about this because I wanted Ron and Hermione to grow up, have many kids, and be happy......oh the AGONY of waiting!!!
Hello everybody, we all should think about whom JK would bring back? Some clues that I've paid close attention to suggest that it could be Dumbledore! In the c.o.s Dumbledore tells Mr. Malfoy "you will find that I've only truly have left the school when none here are loyal to me." And that help will always be given to those who ask for it! Yet other clues suggest that Sirius Black will return! If you have'nt read your glorious collection two or more time maybe you should, and make several notes for yourselves! good luck Tonks!
Why would she kill off Ron and Hermione by accident? She said she didn't mean the two she talked about to die; you'd think any Trio deaths would've been planned from the start, not just thrown in at random.
*starts chanting* We love Jo! We love Jo! We love Jo! We love Jo! We love Jo! We love Jo! We love Jo! We love Jo! We love Jo! We love Jo! We love Jo! We love Jo! We love Jo! We love Jo! We love Jo! We love Jo! We love Jo! We love Jo! We love Jo! We love Jo! We love Jo! We love Jo! We love Jo! We love Jo! We love Jo! We love Jo! We love Jo! We love Jo! We love Jo! We love Jo! We love Jo! ive been predicting harry's death since book 4. harry's blood is in voldemort, therefore volemort cannot be fully dead until harry's blood no longer flows. regardless, i am going to bawl my eyes out if/when that does happen!!! i love harry. i am IN love with harry! haha. CANNOT WAIT UNTIL BOOK 7!!!! oh, and ron and hermione cant die because they have to have a son and name him harry, duhhhh.
For me, it's one of the Weasley (Molly or one of the twins) and one of the trio... besides Harry (I'm sadly sure that he will go down taking LV). Even Harry get to be with his love... I mean Ginny, but Ron and Hermy weren't together in any of the books. Maybe this is a sign that she will choose one of them to die and it won't be a great shock for the one left. The reprieve could be Snape, but that mean he is bad and I don't believe it. So my cents is in Dumbledore coming back or prat Percy turning to his family.

i bet harry is going to kill himself just so he can kill voldemort.
has ever reason to kill off harry....all must come to an end
Eventhough I have seen many of those questions answered it gave it more meaning hearing it from Jo. I'm just sad to hear that she's killed off another character.
I loved it! Though after I'm going to wonder who she almost kill off but changed her mind and the two who that got killed instead.
OH MY LORD!!! More information!!! Oh, I wonder who got the reprieve and who else has been killed off... suppose we'll see.
Let's hope that she killed off someone who does not have incredible vitality, or maybe its someone who's evil. Perhaps she decided to kill off...Crabbe or someone. Fleur would be better than one of the trio. I seriously hope none of them die. I honestly do not know if it is possible to write this book in less than 1,000 pages, Jo left so many questions unanswered and myserteries unsolved!!
30 minutes of Jo... that was heaven. That would have been awesome to interview her. I really wish I was going to that thing in NY. I am really thinking about book 7. Who's dying and who got a reprieve?!? So interesting to think about. I SOOO hope the book comes out 7/7/07. I will probably cry though when it's over.... so sad. There will be a huge gaping hole in my life.
THIS IS MY OWN HONEST OPINION: ^6 Characters who will not die^ Harry and Ginny, Ron and Hermione as JKR has dragged both the characters and the readers too far through the mill to not get them togeter after its all over, and Lupin and Tonks cause as Prof. McGonagall said "Dumbledore would have been happier than anybody to think there was a little more love in the world" in reference to Lupin/Tonks. Now JKR said once Dumbledore speaks for her in some matters and she is fond of Lupin. Voldemort dies. After that I'm saying Moody, Shacklebolt, Fletcher on the order side Various faceless people in the Daily Phrophet and on the DE's side The LeStranges, Avey, Macnair, Amycus and Alecto take your pick of your most hated but Bella dies regardless. Wormtail and Snape are a different kettle of fish. I don't know if Snape is good or evil so can't weigh up the liklyhood of his death. However I think wormtail may get the reprieve.
would mugglenet hav the chance to ask her who she reprieved at least?? and to ask if she will publish her unchanged last chapter after the last book is out?
i really like this site i got to go seah
i really like this site i got to go seah
One thing I'm disappointed about is why no one's bothering to ask about horcruxes and how to destroy them!
i think it is pretty simple: the two for sure are Harry and Voldemort. If i remember, with book 6 we all were going into great detail of who would die, when if you just think, you would have quickly known that dumbledore was going to die, all the signs were there, and in this situation, all signs point to harry and voldy, they are linked. Now, don't get me wrong, i LOVE harry, and i will be SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO happy if he doesn't, but i think its sort of clear that all bets go to him, and if he does, i will cry really hard for days!!!!
One thing is for sure... If harry dies or not, the end of the harry potter series is going to be really sad for everyone.. I really don't care that much if harry dies or not because I know that even if he does not die, jo is not going to write more about him. As Jo said, you have to just let it go even if people want more.. the end of the series is going to be really sad.. I do hope that Jo has many more Harry s.. Not just one. I really liked it when Jo asked that kid in the end whether he liked hermione before emma watson started playing her.. Jo was so graceful and sweet as usual...The interview was pleasant but Jo was careful not reveal anything[not that anything big was asked]. But I guess that with so much little revealed about the seventh book, it's totally going to be a surprise.
Yeah, i feel like that too, Wormtail might get the reprieve (snape is too goddamn obvious) but i personally feel that one of the Weasleys(espescially Mrs Weasley) might die, and I would prefer if Bellatrix went insane, she desrves it, although she is a bit insane even now.
scytheslash thats even better Bella goes insane and another character dies from either side. I meant earlier that of all the people Harry knew the ones I named would be most likely to die. But anyone other than the 6 I mentioned in my above post are fair game to die.
remember when Jo said she was surprised ppl thought things were getting darker, becuz the series started with 2 murders? i think that means that harry will die. *sob* now answer me this question: did she say that two characters will die, or that she has ADDED two more dead characters? either way, i will be devastated. to say that harry has alredy served his purpose in life as an excuse for him dying is ridiculous; harry still needs children and sex and to live on his own! she makes us love these ppl so much and then kills them off before their time! p.s. those of you that think dumbledore/sirius is still slive are in denial, sorry
well you are gonna lose snape and lupin, but guess who you get back dumbledore and sirius!!!!!!! snape made a unbreakable pact with dumbledore that is why dumbledore trusted him so much!!!
Jmule: maybe, but i don't know what the unbreakable vow could have been that made it so ironclad, or that snape hasn't already broken already. i guess there's a reason for everything....
he made the vow to dumbledore that he would never return to the darkside, and that he would do whatever possible to help rid of volemort. Thus my "killing" off dumbledore it will allow dumbledore to pursue voldemort's crufixes with out being known, and it saved drako from becoming a killer. Had draco not done it someone else would have and dumbledore would really be dead, but thanks to snape the man is still alive. and wormtail is gonna receive the reprieve because he is gonna save Harry just watch!!!!
i dont think she'll kill harry off. i mean i hope she doesnt. after all he's done i think he finally deserves to be normal like he's always wanted. i have a really bad feeling that hagrid is going to be killed...idk why. someone above said one of the weaslys. i think that could happen too...*sigh* all this thinking & wondering is making me have hypertension lol. oh well we'll just have to wait & see.
||||||||||||||||||| THANK YOU !!! |||||||||||||||||||| Hi, This was the first interview i've ever seen of Jo. I enjoyed it very much. Thanks again for posting, vs
All I have to say is that if a Weasley twin dies, HEADS WILL ROLL!!!!! I love Fred and George! They're too funny to die!
i think its time for a new poll!!!!!!!
perhaps Snape will reveal to harry that he is in fact harry's father. Later, Harry will duel with Snape and mortally wound him. On the verge of death Snape will stop voldemort from inflicting the crucio curse on Harry and lift Voldemort up and throw him down a reactor shaft-killing him. Luke-I mean Harry will then burn Snape's body and return to the forbidden forest where he is greeted by Ron and Hermione and a roaring chewba-err-Hagrid and singing and dancing house elves. He will see Snape, James Potter, Sirius and Dumbledore who have all turned to ghosts, before getting pulled away by Ginny to watch the fireworks blaze in the sky amidst the wreckage of the second death star... That would be a great ending.
I don't know how long I can wait until the book comes out! Her alluding to 2 deaths had made me start pondering who it could be!
Better than I thought they would ask her ,but they didn't even try to get the title out of her.It was actually not too bad of an interview. They got her to reveil some interesting things. Much better than Katie Curic on NBC usually does and far better than Regis and Kelly would have done. They could have asked her something about the title. I wish they had asked her about Snape.Just to get somekind of a re- action from her. Thanks MN,even though it would have been better if the speaking were in sink with the video. It was find of like watching an old kung-foo movie. With the actors talking and then hearing the words, only the other way around.
How stupid. Neither the hosts nor the kids new anything about HP. What a waste of an amazing oppurtunity! I hope whoever goes to her reading in August manages to squeeze out some good information. Down with Hagrid! Snape shall own you!
one of the main themes of the story is that death is unavoidable, and that everyone must experience it when their time comes (except ghosts, who missed out). theres a reason for nearly all the deaths in the series, they all add something to the harry's journey. so when book 7 comes out, this is what we'll be saying: those that thought dumbledore/sirius weren't really dead were, to use emerson's word, delusional.
Oh dear. I feel horrible now. I can just tell that the two people are Ron and Hermione....especially seeing as it made her husband upset... This is the first time I have been p'd off at Jo. P.S. Those kids were idiots.
That is excellent! I loved the interview.
I hate the way Richard says "lets see some stuff that she's created", and then they show the GoF trailer. that isn't her work! that's just rubbish created by the movie industry.
Even if they didnt get the book title out of her, they still should have tried to find out when the title would be released. She told us the book 6 title ages before the book came out. she did comment that she wouldnt say who died because she didnt want the hate mail. why would she say that if harry didnt die?
How humble is that woman?! Goodness, I want to hug her! someone is reprieve...my guesses are Snape or Harry...those are the two who have that much on their plate... OOO I can't wait for this book and more discussions about what she meant on MuggleCast :)
I hope she kills Hermione and Ginny because for Movie 7 it would be laughable to try and see those girls pull off the acting. They are both such "damsel-in-distress" type characters and they can't do anything for themselves (at least not after the sixth book) so I doubt they will be able to survive.
That was a pleasant half and hour. :)
hey there, bit short notice but the interview is being repeated on more4 at 1210 today for anyone who missed it.
Harry isn't going to die, have you read the clues folks? They are going to have HP on Today, and HP has been on the news this morning! Woot! The news said the last book is coming out next year...?
