CBS Early Show to feature college Quidditch
CBS Early Show to feature college Quidditch The CBS Early Show will be doing a piece on the growing sport of Quidditch on college campuses across the country this Friday morning. As previously reported in USA Today, Quidditch is becoming a very popular sport among college students and now the school that began it all, Middlebury College, is going on an eight-school tour during their spring break recess.

Starting tomorrow, they will be at Amherst College in Amherst, MA and that is where the CBS Early Show will be broadcasting from.

All the merchandise seen in the piece, including broomsticks, house ties and scarves, was provided by our partner Alivan's.

UPDATE: CBS News has posted video from today's earlier broadcast, which'll show you how to play. Check it out here! Thanks to everyone who e-mailed with the tip.

Posted by narglelvr Mar 27th 2008

i just google how to play muggle quidditch and there were a whole bunch of article. now you me and hannah know how to start our own team

Posted by Romilda Mar 27th 2008

They use a member of the cross country team who gets dressed up all in yellow as the "Snitch". They run around the campus but they have to come back once every 10 minutes or something like that so the game doesn't go on for some insane amount of time. Or at least that's what they do at Middlebury... I dunno about elsewhere

Posted by Ganger345 Mar 27th 2008

Sweet we should totally do that! We would have so much fun!!!!!!!

Posted by narglelvr Mar 27th 2008

i know, what would you play?

Posted by narglelvr Mar 27th 2008

go to http://www.youtube.com/ watch?v=860rHN4k42s&featu re=related to see a vid of people playing

Posted by JaySlytherinGirl Mar 27th 2008

If it wasn't raining I'd call my friends up and try to have a Quidditch match... but the weather really sucks and I'm supposed to study...and most of my friends would likely tell me I'm insane and hung up on me =D, and you can't have a Quidditch match if there are only 4 players!

Posted by DailyProphetAce Mar 27th 2008

OMG, I go to college in the same town!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by originalsamshu Mar 27th 2008

I TOTALLY don't want to know what the Beater uses for a club.

Posted by HeyKidA Mar 27th 2008

Hehe I go to this college and have played quidditch. :) We had a quidditch world cup.

Posted by Ganger345 Mar 27th 2008

Hey Bridget here I am, sorry I left , my internet crashed. It has random mood swings like that. If we played quidditch, I think I would be a chaser. I have really good reflexs because of softball and strong arms from swmming, so I'd be able to throw the quaffle really good. What would you play?

Posted by narglelvr Mar 27th 2008

whatever no one else was playing, prob chaser or keeper, or BEATER or i could just comentate, but din't you wish we still had resess so we could play then?

Posted by myk Mar 27th 2008

the Middlebury quidditch team was actually at Vassar yesterday since we have a quidditch team, too. the games were awesome!

Posted by Wizard4243 Mar 27th 2008

It sounds weird to be playing it but it looks like alot of fun. I want to know how the game is going to be played and what **** they would be using in the game??

Posted by xoxoshannonxoxo Mar 27th 2008

I dunno.....what's quidditch without the flying brooms??:-) It sounds cool though.

Posted by hpninjaskills Mar 27th 2008

I watched this one video a long time ago about people playing it. The snitch would be in a bag in one person's hand, who would run around avoiding the seekers. The seekers would run after the person with the "snitch" and whoever gets the bag & opens it wins the snitch. That's what I saw! =) And the chasers do the regular thing. Anyway, I can't wait to watch this! :]

Posted by strawberrieflavored Mar 27th 2008

We tried to get quidditch intramurals started at my school last year (and maybe this year, too, but I never heard about it), but I guess it never got off the ground or something, because it never started. (I go to a relatively small school, so there just might not have been enough people to get together enough teams.) I would have loved to join, though!! Who wouldn't want to play a muggle-version of quidditch?!

Posted by GriseldatheGood Mar 27th 2008

Seriously, Emerson, you should get on this. Notre Dame is full of HP fans (look at the turnout for the Wizard Rock concert) and former high school athletes (something like 90%) who want to have fun. Maybe they could book the stadium for the finals!

Posted by slugclubgirl77 Mar 27th 2008

omg! no way. I want to play quidditch that would be so awesome!!!

Posted by HBP_HagridsBigPoop_ Mar 27th 2008

They have Quidditch in some colleges now?? Aw man that's so weird! I've tried playing "Quidditch" before, but it never turns out very good...I wonder how thet do it...?

Posted by Ganger345 Mar 27th 2008

Hey Bridget, I don't know if youre there or not, but it would be totally HILARIOUS if you commentated! You would be just like Luna! I can totally see you getting distracted by shapes the clouds are forming and stuff like that...you would be so funny! I wish we were still at St.Pats so we could play quidditch! Think of how goofy we would look! But we would have so much fun!

Posted by Emi_5 Mar 27th 2008

oh man that is soo cool!!!! i would really love to play!!!!!......i wish we'd play quidditch in my gym class.......the juniors get a little agressive.

Posted by harrypotternut Mar 27th 2008

Posted by seventhsoul Mar 27th 2008

Mark my words, the first words out of those poor petrified people's mouths will be 'It was Hagrid.' Frankly, I'm astounded Professor McGonagall thinks all these security measures are necessary.
