For their work on Goblet of Fire, Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson have been nominated for SyFy Genre awards in the categories of best actor and actress, respectively. The pair also picked up nominations for best young actor, and the fourth Harry Potter movie is up for best movie. Voting will commence on July 10th, finishing 30 days later. Best of luck to them!

Harry potter is not without his TWO best friends. They make the movies what they are, not just one over the other and so on. Rupert is a funny guy and he is important, I just wish he would win things as much as Dan and Emma.

I dont agree, this is called "Harry Potter and..." because it is about him. Like Jo said Harry and Voldemort are the main characters. The others are important but not like them.

But in my opinion Dan deserves to win it, I think he did brilliant in GoF, while I didnt like Emmas acting so much.
And Daniel works so much for all the stunts, I hope he wins. I havent seen any other young actor (or older) doing such difficult stunts.
And I think his Harry is the most faithful to the books too.

I dont agree. A lot of people dont find Rupert funny, a lot of people thinks his humor is stupid, and thats not how Ron is in the books. In the books Ron is funny without the need to be stupid.
His fans says this is a scriptwriters fault, but I dont think so, because the jokes can be funny, but it seems he doesnt know how to be funny without the stupid faces, expressions etc
And dont tell me thats the directors fault because this movies have had 3 different directors already, and this has always been the same.
I dont want to bash them, Im just expressing my opinion.
Also I didnt like the yule ball scene, thats not the Ron I know from the books. We like Ron, but he is not cool, and in the movies its like Rupert tries to make Ron look like someone cool. In the books Ron is surprised to hear what Hermione says about inviting her next time. In the movie Rupert looks conceited and angry.
In my opinion Ron is all the contrary, he doesnt belive much in himself, he can not be conceited.
In the books Ron is really angry with Harry, in the movies it looks like a 5 years old who has lost his lollipop.
All of this is my opinion of course, I know some people angry and others dont.
But I dont understand how someone can compare Dans work with Emma and Ruperts work. The scenes that Dan has to do are much more difficult that their scenes for example. And while Dan has always been faithful to the books, no matter how bad and nocanon the scripts have been, unfortunately I can not say the same about the others.

Once again, Rupert is completely overlooked. Its so stupid. It really annoys me, Rupert is the one who stays most true to his character, then Dan, Emma is nothing like Hermione, and Rupert manages this even though he is given the least true to character lines and everything. Rupert will go far further than Dan and especially Emma when HP is all over. Both Rupert and Ron are always overlooked outside the true HP fan community. Its ridiculous.

Dans crying parts in the movie make me cringe, and Emma is kind of over-dramatic.. but overall, i guess theyre alright actors - definately not the best though. The only reason they get nominated for so many awards is because Harry Potter itself (the whole franchise) is so big. No matter who plays Harry or Hermione, and what theyre acting skills are like, its a given that theyll be nominated alot. Kind of stupid maybe, but meh.. what can you do?.. As for Rupert, i think the reason he doesnt get many awards is because the people giving out the awards dont want to nominate two people from the same movie in the same group. So its a choice between Dan or Rupert, and the people will automatically choose Dan because his role is the lead, while Ruperts is the supporting one. Once again, maybe not fair - but what can you do?

I completely agree with rupertsfuturewifes first post. I couldnt have explained it better myself. I think Emma Watson is a good actress it just seems like she tries too hard. I really think Dan could practice a bit more, but I think he is the best choice by far for the role of Harry. And personally, I think Rupert is a natural at acting, he may be shy but he is very good at what he does. Id say he is one of the best actors in the Harry Potter movies. While Im at it: I think Michael Gambon is really really bad at portraying Dumbledore. Dumbledore is supposed to be a really wise, old, tired looking man, and Michael is always running and jumping and...shaking Harry so hard its as if he wants Harry head to come off. I absolutely hated the way Voldemort turned out and....Oh yeah I think Jason Isaacs and Alan Rickman play their roles PERFECTLY. I hope to God Bellatrix turns out the way I am hoping. She is my favorite character.

Dan is alright, but certainly not award worthy. Rupert is the best out of the three, although he does not potray Ron well. smurff 40 i dont think anyone is bashing Emma.. all people have done is state their opinions on her (both positive and negative) in a relatively calm way - as theyve been doing for the other two actors as well. Bashing is more of screaming insults about someone and ranting on about how horrible they are, and usually not backing up why they think that way with solid reasons. (If anything, i think theres been more Rupert-bashing.)

But, honestly, poor Rupert! Theres always best actor and best actress catergories. Obviously, since Dan plays the main character he gets noms and Emma plays the main female so she gets noms. Rupert, who is undoubtedly better than Dan, though Dan is quite good, never gets noms because he gets shoved behind Dan.
BLOODPROMISE :
I totally agree about Dans crying in PoA. The first time I saw it, I heard the crying before I saw anyone, Hermione and Ron included. And my first thought was "Why is Hermione crying?!" But it was Harry!!
I know Im rambling, but Ill continue.
My opinion on Emma is that she is still quite good in my eyes. She does well with what shes given. Comparing movie to canon, movie!Hermione is less like book!Hermione, not because of Emmas acting, but the script at times. Also, we can go into the hair thing. PS and CoS hair was very good, quite canon. Then for some reason, they decided it was too much hassle to friz her hair up for PoA and GoF. Now, I know house elves would cost millions to do, but how expensive would it be to make someones hair frizzy? Ill do it for free if thats what theyre worried about!

As a lot of people have already said, its a bit disappointing that Rupert has never been nominated. I think that, of the three, hes the most natural in his role. As for Emma, I think she makes a good Hermione. I know she doesnt fit the "nerdy know-it-all" we love, but can we honestly expect the actors to go by the books when the screenwriters and directors dont? She was the best for the part when it was being cast, and Im happy with her portrayal of Hermione. And Dan... Ill admit that his acting made me cringe in PoA, but he has improved since then. I think the trio is made up of good actors, so congrats to Dan and Emma, and Ill just cross my fingers for Rupert the next time something like this comes around.

The posters who are saying that Rupert is the best of the three have eaten some sour grapes methinks. He has some talent and Im sure he was also nominated but awards like these usuallu short list tne nominees into just a few so the voting is manageable. Rupert is just not good enough to be included in the final list. He provides some comic relief in the films but sometimes the twins are funnier than him so whats his edge over the others? Not enough for him to win an award.

Dan and emma are getting this award, but Rupert has just finished a movie which now has an american distributor and Im sure will be well recieved. hell get plenty of credit for driving lessons. its a fantastic film, i saw it at tribeca, and jeremy brock is right, he is WAY underused in the HP films, he did a phenomenal job. im not usually all in the emma, dan and rupe thing, but this movie suprised me and i may just becoming a rupert fan.

ugh. I agree that Rupert could do better in portraying Ron, but a lot of it is the screenwriters script... that has a lot to do with it. Dans acting is really good now, im impressed. But... Emma? ugh. just ugh. She was okay in the first one, and maybe in the second one, but what happened to know-it-all Hermione??? Now shes preppy, and with an attitude. I dont like Emmas acting at all. Shes too pretty to be Hermione, and i think she knows how pretty she is, but Hermione doesnt need to act conceited.

I like both Emma and Dan, and yes I do sorta feel that Emma isnt one with Hermione anymore I think shes still the best for the role. Besides, Dan doesnt fit the Harry character like he use to either. Yeah, thats wonderful, amazing, in the sense thats its the worst Potter movie ever! Are you sure weve read and seen the same novel and movie? I know a movie cant be totally faithful to the book its adapted from, but to that extent, its a shame! I only appreciated the cemetary scene at the end. Yes, the actors are good, but the scenario is not so good, and the actors cant help it. And about Rupert Grint, of course he is becoming less and less important in the movies, thats about the only thing which respects the original JKR plots.

I would have nominated Rupert Grint over Dan Radcliffe. Rupert has the most animated face and fantastic voice inflections. He really is Ron, whereas I feel Dan is too stiff. Rupert is fantastic!

Thats cool, but it frustrates me when they dont appreciate Ruperts work too. He is just as good and sometimes better, even though Dan and Emma are great. The acting in PoA was great but GoF was a winner. As everyone has gotten soo good, cant wait for Order of the Phoenix!!

It makes sense that Emma and Dan were nominated for GoF beacuse they had the bigger roles. Hermione has her own sub-plot with Krum, where basically all Ron needs to do is look sullen; about Harry, about Hermione, about Krum... (Poor Ron, it wasnt a very good year for him, was it?) Good Luck to D&E!

God, I hope Dan and Emma dont win. First of all, Dakota Fanning has more experience and talent in her little finger than the both of them combined. Second of all, Emmas NOTHING compared to Natalie Portman (also nominated). I know good acting and Dan has majorly improved, but hes still not that great (he has potential). Emma, on the other hand, is improving slowly. VERY slowly. That has to deal with the fact that she has no other experience out of the HP movies.
The fact that Emma and Dan are always in the spotlight does not have to deal with some unexplainable force, its very simple--Dan is the leading male character and Emmas the leading female character. All thats left is the underdog, Ron/Rupert.
I do agree that Rupert is underestimated. I saw the clips of him in Driving Lessons and he shows versatility. He was great when he did the Shakespeare part. He basically showed me and many others that he can portray other emotions besides scared, angry, or funny.

May I say to janey and the others that Ruperts reduced role to comic relief is not just the fault of the director or writer. A good actor interprets the role and it is he who gives depth to the character he is portraying. Ruperts trademark goofy expression worked in the first 2 movies but gets tiresome and he seems to be stuck with it. In that play for the Queens party, he wore the same goofy expression and thats not written by KLoves! Im beginning to think that he likes making facial contortions and its not working anymore.
I have more hopes with Driving Lessons. He has a different role there and hopefully, hell get the recognition that all Rupert fans expect.

i agree w/Patronus and ilovesidneycrosby8787, in SS and CoS she was ok, at least she acted like a know it all and (though its really costume and makeup to blame) she had bushy brown hair, not wavy and lucious blondish brown locks of neatly combed hair. and lol you can try this in any scene in any of the hp movies: watch emmas eyebrows for like five minutes and ull see how wildly they move, like the parts in gof where theyre on the hogwarts express or when she and dan r talking and she says "you are trying to figure this egg out, arent u, harry?..blah blah blah..*is on one side of dan and suddenly moves to other side of him for dramatic effect* im scared for u." yea and she acts like everythings obvious like the part where f+g are putting their names in the GoF she says its not going to wer-erk! (work) and why is that granger? see that? thats an age line, dumbledore drew it himself. so? so, *rolls eyes and moves eyebrows* unh, a genius like dumbledore wouldnt be fooled by something as pathetically dim-witted as an aging potion. thats why its so brilliant, because its so pathetically dim-witted! etc etc etc...(btw im reciting this from memory so those probably arent the exact words they said) yea like ilovesidneycrosby8787 shes just plain annoying. she seems really preppy and has a big attitude. and she acts girly. and she smirks a lot. well i guess thats how she smiles but...and also the costume people didnt do a very good job because the clothes are supposed to reflect their personality, and emmas definitely doesnt reflect hermiones character...

Argh! This sort of stuff really pisses me off. Rupert is never recognized and hes one of the best actors the cast has! Emma cant act (view PoA and GoF for proof) and she doesnt deserve all these nominations. She doesnt even resemble Hermione anymore and I publically refuse to acknowledge her as Hermione, preferring the canon and fanfiction versions of her better.

A clash of Dan/Rupe fans again. Here is what I have to say.
Every girls has a different taste in guys, some my feel that Dan is better looking, and some Rupert. I get the distinct feeling that that blocks judgment. Those who are in love with Dan blindly follow him no matter what, and the same goes for Rupert fans. They refuse to see the acting talents of the other, simply because of this stupid feud. If someone criticises your favorite actor, its your duty to stand up for him/her right? Wrong. They dont care if a few immature teenagers dont like them! So what?! Id prefer it if people NICELY stated their oppinions, instead of starting a riot. Not that anyone has yet. In fact, this board is going decently, lets just hope it stays that way. Now. For my oppions on the actors.
~Dan cant pull off enough drama for his character to be as emotional as he is. His face seems constantly blank. On the other hand, he looks the part.
~Emma is a pretty girl, but has grown out of the part. Shes is much too dramatic, and in a bad way. Her hair is wrong. Her face is wrong. Shes a good actress, but for something else.
~Ron is a funny character, and Rupert pulls that off quite nicely. Hesexcellent with vocal tones, and can pull of the greatest faces. However, he doesnt look the part as much as he should, and his character doesnt get as much attention.

I think Emma looked more the part in the first two movies, which isnt necessarily her fault. Dan would look more like Harry if he wore bloody green contacts, and if his scar didnt keep migrating. But in my mind Harry looks like the Harry on the cover of OotP. Rupert (I think he has green eyes) should be wearing blue contacts, or switch with Dan. But other than that Rupert practically IS Ron. My perfect Ron looks like the Ron drawn by Marta. Anyway, if these kids were really serious actors they would dedicate themselves a bit more to actually looking like their characters. I know Emma dyes her hair to a darker hue but thats not enough.

Awards have to choose the best actor in the film, and Dan is the leading male role, he has so much more opportunities to proove himself, more than Rupert in the film. How can the awards choose Rupert rather than Dan ? Besides, I personnally think that Dan is better than Rupert in GOF !! Dan is the main character, we cant change that.
And, Emma, why you always complain that Rupert should be there, and Emma should not ? Its about female leading role. So, who else than Emma can take this nomination ? If she is not good, she wont win the award. Thats all, so simple !!!
I just think that, you Rupert fans, you always believe that Rupert dont have a great fan base, and he is always left out, but, you dont see that Rupert is BELOVED by many many many fans, it means he is not forgotten.

This is so stupid. I dont get why Rupert is always left out! It is obviously wrong to nominate the 2 least good actors in the films. I dont like Dan, And Emma is not a good Hermione at all. Rupert is the best visualisation of Ron there could ever be, and while I can imagine lots of other actors as Harry & Hermione, I could not Imagine anyone else Playing Ron.
But never mind - It is Clear that Rupert is going to blossom and stick around and have lots of productive years ahead of him, while Dan and Emma will never shake Harry & Hermione out of them.
