Give Jo your support
MuggleNet fully supports Jo Rowling in this case. This week will be, without a doubt, difficult and emotional for the author who has spent 17 years creating the series we all love so much. Because of this, we feel that with as much support as possible, this time can be made more bearable for her.
Please feel free to leave any messages of support in the comments, which we will link to from the main page until a verdict on this case is reached. Thank you.
"I really don't want to cry because I'm British. These books, they saved me, not just in the very obvious material sense, although they did do that...I would have to say that there was a time when they saved my sanity." JK Rowling, April 14th

We all support you completely, Jo! You have given us so much, and have made these past few years absolutely amazing. Thank you, and good luck! :)
Jo, Above and beyond you have always wanted what is best for your fans. My support has been with you from the beginning, and will continue this way. Not only do you stand up for your own rights, but those of others, including the right of your readers to purchase a book with all the right information. Fans will wait for your encyclopedia, and if this case ends up the wrong way, any real fan will leave the book in the bookstore and wait for yours, because not only will it contain the truth about all things Harry, the money goes to charity. You have taught your fans the importance of truth, justice and charity, and your fans will wait and stand behind you to up hold these values. Good luck, I have all faith that good things happen to good people, and I know you are a good person. I will support you always.
I SUPPORT YOU 100% JO! This book can't be published and it won't be. And if by some chance it is, I will NEVER buy it. -Rachel-
I support you, Jo! It's your work and someone other than yourself should not be able to reprint and sell it. We all love your work, and I apprieciate what you have done for people everywhere, including myself - getting me into reading. Thank you! Good luck! =]
We are all behind you, Rowling, and wish you the best of luck! We love you, and are very grateful for everything you have done for us, this series has given us such joy, and will continue to do so. No matter what happens we're on your side a 100%.
I still stand behind you completely, Jo, and I hope that you win the case. But just remember that no matter what happens in the next few days, this will not take away 17 years of hard work. You have touched so many hearts and changed so many lives with your books, and that cannot be undone. After all you have done for the world, you do not deserve to be caught in the mess. But I also hope you will remember that you have millions of fans on your side, and that no one can ever steal your words completely because we all know that they are yours. I'm sure any of us would choose your encyclopaedia over the lexicon. I love you and I support you 100% :-)
I am 100% behind Jo. It's her book and she shouldn't have to compete with her own fans about it. If someone wants to write a book about HER material that's going to make her mad, is that a very good tribute to her work?
Don't back down, Jo. We (your true fans, as in most of the entire world) are WITH you! This fool is trying to get rich off your brilliant creations. The one he's really robbing is your charities. We the fans wouldn't buy it anyway but he should be stopped. Bless you for your courage. Know we're with you and doing the right thing. Thank you again for such a wonderful series.
Jo, I support you 100%. You're doing the right thing by taking this matter to court. You have created something truly remarkable with Harry Potter (how many millions of lives have you changed?) and for someone to attempt to steal your words and make a profit from it is revolting. A book of commentary is one thing, an encyclopedia of your ideas is another entirely. Thank you so much for everything you have given us fans. Know that we're backing you now!
I'm definitely on JKR's side. She plans to make an encyclopedia of her own, Lexicon should not steal any of its thunder. I'm sure hers will be much more enriching and satisfying. (And charitable. :P) Being Harry Potter fans, they should know she plans to make an encyclopedia of her own, I don't see why they are trying to do this. Go JKR!
its not right for anyone to publish anything with Jo's work in it. of course ppl will reference to it, i read a book the other day where somone was reading harry potter. thats because harry potter is a legend! thats a reference, not a publication of her work with whatever else. and i want JKR's version of hte encyclopedia! I support you completly Jo, I'm trying to imagine what it must feel like to have your work published under someone else. its def not the money, and we fans understand that. Good luck Jo!
GO Jo! I am behind you 110%. I know it must be difficult for you to go through this, but just know thousands or maybe even millions of HP fans support you and will stand by you. Good luck and can't wait for the encyclopedia.
JK Rowling you are amazing. You are selfless. And this man, or rather boy, is just ripping you off to make a quick buck. I fully support your decision to file a law suit. (You obviously know that) Ayways you have every right to do this. And we, your fans and admirers, support you in every simgle way. Have a wonderful less-pressure filled life. You deserve it. GO JO!! (Hey that rhymes, you have a very catchy cheer in your favor) We love you Jo!
Jo I love you and I support you. It's "The Scottish Book" or nothing for me! They have no right to exploit your marvelous creation in this way. Kick some Lexicon butt!
You're the BEST, Jo! Love ya! I totally support you 100% of the way!
Jo, you have no idea what your books mean to me. I know they will always be a constant source of comfort, inspiration, and joy in my life. That in itself would be enough for me to give you my whole-hearted support, but over the years I have seen what a compassionate, generous, brilliant, and funny woman you are--a perfect role model for young people like me. And in this case, you are entirely in the right; you must stand up and protect you're intellectual property and your rights as the author. You've been through a lot of difficult times before, and I know you'll get through this one as well--with all the grace and dignity that you possess. Your fans are behind you, Jo. You have no idea how much you mean to us.
It's so unbelievably unfortunate that this had to happen. It's really upsetting and difficult for you, Jo, and the whole fandom. My thoughts are with you for these few days, and always:)
I support you, Jo!!
I support Jo 1000032958235%, and if the book came out, I wouldn't read it or buy it. However, I feel so bad for the dude she's suing. Imagine having your hero going against you. Apparently he was pushed into the whole deal by his stupid publishing company. I feel bad for him, but I think he should have been smart and given this up long ago. It must be hard to JKR to do this, and I'm sure a lot of people think she's being selfish, but we all know she isn't and that she must be going through a lot to sue such a hardcore fan that she must admire for all of his efforts. Good luck Jo, hopefully everything will work itself out in the end. :)
Jo, Your brilliance will never be questioned, regardless of the outcome of this case. Remember that we, your fans, support you in everything you do because you helped us grow into the people we are today. Your books convey a standard of moral decency that the Harry Potter Lexicon is not acknowledging. Stay strong, Jo, we're with you. And if worst comes to worst, we'll boycott in your honor.
dear J.K., i remembered immediately what a centaur said in book 1, about how the innocent are the first victims, and i find it so terrible that this thing is happening to you. you worked so hard on those books and even though you were successful and financially secure already after book 5 and you didnt even have to continue writing the books anymore if you didnt want to, you still did it because of us. you gave so much and got this back and i just want to tell you to be strong and that your fans still love you. dont lose your passion for writing and dont let anybody get in the way of what you want to do. its your life so dont let anyone trample on your rights and live your life the way you want to. WE LOVE YOU!
Dear Jo, I joined Muglenet only today, even though I've been a fan for a long time, to be able to write this message. I hope you know that all of us genuine Harry Potter fans around the world will be with you 100% and please do not let this destroy your spirit. Harry Potter books mean a lot to all of us and we would never want to see them being paroded in such a fashion. We are all behind you and will always be no matter what happens.
Dear Jo, I've always really admired how involved you've been with the HP fandom, giving fansite awards and personal interviews, and I think it's horrible how your support is now being taken advantage of. So I'm just adding another quick comment to say that I'm 100% behind you, and I'll pray for you and that everything turns out okay in the end!
Personally, I think both sides are being horribly petty. If Jo's legal team and SVA had shown some foresight before making angry, inflexible decisions, it never would have come to this. It's all so very full of pathos -- with a wonderful author and, I feel, a truly devoted fan, breaking out into shows of emotion -- but in the end, I think it's a debacle that's an embarrassment to all concerned.
I wont buy some sub-standard book! I would choose yours over anyone's books!!!! The fact that you are writing this book, stopped me breaking down when the last Harry Potter book was released.. I need you! lol Good luck, hope you win. Well done for standing up for your rights!
We love you Jo, us fans are behind you all the way!!
Jo you have my full support in this case. Lexicon has no right to write there version of Harry Potter Encyclopedia. You keep fighting Jo, we, your fans & readers, are behind you. Long Live Joanne Rowling!
I am really glad that you are doing something about this Jo. Harry Potter is very important to you like it is to us fans, but he means a lot more to you since he's like a son to you. I love this series, I really, really do. Reading these books has helped me through some difficult times, and I've grown up with Harry so I really hope for all the best in this case. Stay strong, all us fans are here to support you all the way.
GOOD LUCK JO! We believe in you, we love you, and we're behind you all the way...
You have the support from lots of the Swedish fans too! All my friends who love the books are behind you and so am I. You and Harry Potter change my life in so many wonderfull ways and you deserve to win this fight. Be strong. Keep faith...
You are great Jo!!!! I support you till the end!!!
Jo, we're all with you! Don't stress yourself out. Take more rest! Don't worry too much! Actually you've already won as no one will buy "that book" anyway, all we want is only The Enceclopedia from YOU! All the best and good luck!
Dear Jo. I hope all goes well for you. I love the world you have created, and both it and you are such an imense inspiration for me. Your strength and resilliance has made a huge difference in the world, and for all the bad things that happen I hope you remember the good as well. We belive in you. It doesn't mean that you can't be human, just remember that you have a lot of genuine support from your readers. I wish you the best.
I'll support you forever Jo. Best of luck forever & ever.
Jo, we know you can get what your want and what is right. Keep fighting and don't give up! People who use worlds of imagination like scientific facts in a text book, who are unable to appreciate the work that goes into them, who try to meld and change them into something that they were never meant to be, those people can never truly understand what it means to be a writer. They do not deserve the key to your secret world; do not relinquish it. In the talk you did with "Pottercast" at the Leaky Cauldron, you said "excuse me if I speak as if this is all real". But it is real. The world you created is real enough to stand on thousands and thousands of bookshelves around the world. It is real enough to have touched so many people is such amazing ways. It is real enough to spark the imaginations of children and adults alike. It is real enough that people spend hours and hours waiting to get a small glimpse into it, and then hours and hours more rejoicing and lamenting over what they have seen. And it is real enough to be fought for. You have the whole world of Harry Potter behind you, and everyone who has ever loved to open a book. Don't give up.
come on JO i know you are going to win this case. we are your fans, the world of harry potter fans are behind you. we totally support you.the harry potter fans will not see our book being plagerised. w'll surely help you.
GO JO! We all love you for the wonderful world that you have created for us and we thank you for that. In return, we are rooting for you 110% !!!!!
Jo, you made us see what fighting for making your dreams come true really means and you are somebody that I trully look up to. I don
This must be so hard for you, having your work, your baby that you wrote in 17 years, be abused like this. Everyone here is completely backing you, in any way! And people all over the world want you to win this and keep your Harry Potter YOUR Harry Potter. Stay strong and hold your head up high; you should win this trial hands-down. Good luck. And know that all of us on the site are looking forward to the TRUE Harry Potter encyclopedia, and we can't wait for you to finish it. Good luck!
I'd rather read J.K.Rowlings' book than the Lexicon book! I hope she gets to write and atts a lot of trivia and never-before-seen information in her book! What could the Lexicon book possibly offer?
I believe in you more than I have believed in anything. You have been true. You are a strong women and your fans ,as you can see, support you no matter what . I'm JRK's man through and through!
I support Jo 100 %. Don't give up, everything going to be allright. Good Luck!
Lots of love & support, Jo. My heart goes out to you. All the best! xx
omg Jo doesn't deserve this shhh! She is my and every single HP fans hero and she has changed our lives with her books and this is what she gets in return????!!!! This kind of stuff gets me so pissed off. I can't believe they could treat her and her work like that. They are disgusting.
What you created was something that spoke of so much beauty and truth that it has forever changed the way that I have seen the world. You managed to convey a message of love and loyalty in a way that cause millions to listen. That is a rare and beautiful gift and it inspired my own chosen career of journalism because I want to write and communicate as well. You created Dumbledore who remains one of my favourite characters and was hugely inspirational to me. So I support you 150% and more. You creations are no ones to take, because they were your gift to us and I hope that you receive justice through this case. You did and have changed my life. Sarah xx
JO - WE ARE WITH YOU. Be strong, you have our support, love and care. you are an example for all of us, and don't worry - this will all be over soon, on the best side no doubt.
Hey Jo, I am hoping that you win this case 100%!!!!!!!! Please don't let this discourage you from writing and don't judge all your TRUE fans from your encounter with this supposed fan. Good Luck!!!!!!! xxxx
I will absolutely not give her my support in this. Yes, she has produced some amazing books but I wont look past her flaws and her ego in this situation.
Sending support and virtual hugs (the kind British people are allowed to accept). I was moved by your quote that you gave out awards to websites because you wanted to encourage your fans, and that if you lose this, then other authors will not encourage fans who have set up websites. For all of our sakes, I hope you win. It would be a sad sad day when authors cannot interact with and encourage their readers. Best of luck Jo.
Go Jo, all the way. You have given us all so much, and we all really appreciate it. You don't HAVE to write the Scottish Book but you still do it. For us. Thank you SO MUCH. And she's not even getting the money all to herself, which is what the Lexicon is doing. She really does care for her fans! Lexicon's just being stupid and i have tried to see it from Steve's perspective but i just don't get WHY and HOW he can feels he can just go ahead and publish that piece of rubbish when Jo's already told him not to. Jo's story is truly amazing and humbling. She has fought so hard for what she wants, done so much, convinced a generation of technology to read again and has grown from a penniless, recently divorced mother to the amazing person she is today. I wonder if she somehow feels that she owes us for giving you that.. i mean, maybe she feels like she OWES us something. But i really want to say that you don't have to do anything for us. Harry Potter was a reward enough. More than we deserved, really. I love Jo so much. She taught me so much. She is my idol.
