Give Jo your support
MuggleNet fully supports Jo Rowling in this case. This week will be, without a doubt, difficult and emotional for the author who has spent 17 years creating the series we all love so much. Because of this, we feel that with as much support as possible, this time can be made more bearable for her.
Please feel free to leave any messages of support in the comments, which we will link to from the main page until a verdict on this case is reached. Thank you.
"I really don't want to cry because I'm British. These books, they saved me, not just in the very obvious material sense, although they did do that...I would have to say that there was a time when they saved my sanity." JK Rowling, April 14th

I second the boycott of the "lexicon." LONG LIVE JK ROWLING!!!
There will be no need for a boycott. Good sense & fairness will prevail. GOOD LUCK JO, YOU ARE THE BEST EVER!!!!!!
jus wanna say no room 4 haterz and breddaz in this world. im wiv u 210% all the way Jo. good always comes out on top so best of luck! nuff luv hypdwun
As an author who can only hope to make even the smallest fraction of the impact JKR has made on the literary world, I support her completely. To me it is obvious that Vander Ark and RDR knew what they were doing was wrong, as Vander Ark's terms for publishing was that a clause be written into the contract in order to protect himself in the event of a lawsuit. He was preparing for something that he knew would happen, which to me implies that he knew what he was doing was questionable. This case has only caused JKR to distrust a fan that she once supported, and it makes me sad to think that this one incident could cause distrust in other fans. Desipte the murky laws, if there is no additional commentary or new discussion on the books, the lexicon only seeks to define terms that JKR created, terms that only she can truly understand the meaning of. This whole thing is just ridiculous...we support you Jo!
Go get 'em Jo! We're all behind you!
GO Jo! I truly, truly believe you can win this one! He had no right to use your series to write an encyclopedia. That is unfair. You deserve to win. You can do it. This is your book. You can win.
COME ON JO! Don't give up, win this, whatever it takes. I will never, never buy Van Ark's book, but just to make sure, don't let him win! GO GET THEM!
Hang in there Jo! You have every right to protect the precious world that you created. You've got so many fans rooting for you. Don't give up!
Jo, I can honestly say Harry Potter got me into reading, I love and cherish these books and can hardly then image what they mean to you. A wise man once said 'we must fight for the things most important to us'. Another said 'one who lives by pen alone lives a hard and warful life but, living without such a great gift of writing is unimaginable.' I send my full support and gratitude to you, and please, please never think throughout this trial you are blowing this issue out of proportion and should just go home (for I know people must be trying to get you to feel that way). For, these books are your pride and joy and, just like a lioness protects her cubs, you have every right and reason to be protective of these books. You have inspired me to love reading and have a passion for writing so, I can only hope I can lend you some sort of comfort to begin to return the favor. A Modest Christian Harry Potter fan, Mary Ehrlicher (Dallas,Texas, USA) (dune9694@mugglenet .com)
Jo- this is your chance, your oppurtunity, to save your books. You can win, i know it. just keep your head up high, and be calm. you did nothing wrong, and i know you can win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! S O GO SAVE YOUR BOOKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!
We ALL love you and support you! You're amazing, and no one should steal your awesome work :))
Jo, you have done so much for so many of us by inviting us to share with you this magical world you have created. We support you 100% now in keeping that world to your credit. Know that we are all rooting for you and for the justice all authors deserve in keeping rights to what is rightfully theirs!
DearJ.K. Rowling I am a 51 Year old grandmother of 13. Harry Potter is and has been a joy to us all. No one has the right to use your work with out your permision. Maggie Andrews
Jo, I am 100% behind you! I have escaped reality in Harry's world for about four years now and I adore them. You are a strong, hard-working, and all-around amazing role model for everyone. :) Thanks for being an outstanding person and the best of luck with this case!
Maggie, I just want to say I loved your comment! Its so whole-hearted, and just about the nicest thing anyone's ever said!
Dear Jo, I cannot imagine that this ordeal will not end in your favor. You are so in the right! If this judge does not realize that the case is about plagiarism and not about his ability to follow a storyline when he reads it aloud (a story, btw, that the REST OF THE WORLD is clearly able to wrap their minds around) then he should seriously reconsider his profession and perhaps become an accountant or a drill-manufacturer or something. You are amazing!! Every single time I read an interview or story about you, it just adds to my respect and admiration for you. Keep your head and your spirits up!! We love you!!
as potter fans we are also Jo fans. when I look around my house and see all my harry things (and there is a lot) it is not just becouse harry is cool (we all know he is) but also it is a sign of my love to godess that is Jo and for me a 32 year old potter fan who shares this story with her kids. Jo let All of us have a little look into her soul so that our soul can be lifted . When i heard that about Jo writing this book I was so happy and to hear that is would be not for profit .( my goodness this lady is a saint). Please fellow potter fans only buy Jo's book. I feel when you take someones ideas you take a piece of thier soul. The soul of the godess Jo should be as one.
Dear Miss Rowling, I can see that this trial is difficult on you. It seems divisive and upsetting. But I hope you are comforted by your fans, who believe in you and support you. You have really been a part of my childhood as few other authors have. Your books taught me lessons that I still have today: the effects my choices have on others, perserverance and strength in the face of adversity and loyalty to your friends and family. Please rely on your fans and try not to be upset. We all support you, we don't think you're acting out of ugly intentions, we're all praying for you and wishing you well. May the law rule justly, God bless you and good luck! PS: Although I am a fan of the HP Lexicon, I am surprised that the owner continued his attempts to publish the books when he himself had had reservations about the legality of the enterprise earlier in the project. Still, I hope that things are resolved amicably and fairly for everyone involved.
Jo: a Horcrux is to evil as your books are to SPECTACULAR!! Your witty and charming style of writing provides inspiration like nothing else, and I just love the message your writing holds. THANK YOU for your amazing brilliance, creativity, and imagination. You truly "made the world a better place" with your contribution to society!! I am behind you infinity% in this battle, as we all are. YOU GO JO!!!!
We love you Jo and support you 100%. At this point no one who considers them self a true Harry potter fan would even think about buying the Lexicon book. So no matter what the outcome of this case is RDR WILL lose. Thank you so much for your books, Harry Potter has changed my life and helped me meet some amazing friends! If it wasn't for Harry Potter I think I would be a completely different person.
Behind you all the way, Jo.
Jo, I've read so much about you in magazines, and I know two facts; you are a magical author of a very magical book and you are a very brave woman. We know that you can do this because you have the courage of Harry, the patience of Hermione and the loyalty of Ron. And you are not fighting this battle alone. We who stood by Harry all these years will definitely stand up for you. You are a great heroine of the world and not only we, HP fans, think that. You can go through this trial. You can do this. We're all supporting you. Long live JK Rowling!
the books didn't only save you Jo it saved all of us each in a different way WE WILL ALWAYS be on your side !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!! love u ~magiclover~
JKR, you have always made my days just a little happier, I dont think I go a day in which I dont do something Harry Potter. I support you 100%, someone else shouldn't be using your work to gain monitary conpesnastion. You created it, and its your baby. What I write I want no one taking, so stand strong... Another HARRY POTTER fan 100% behind JKR.
I totally support JK. I was reading the paper the other day and some people disagree with JK and think she is making a fuss over nothing. I totally disagree with this because she plans to give the proceeds of her encyclopedia to charity and I very highly doubt this Steve Vander Ark will. Some news writers and other people ie the judge, don't understand that the battle isn't over money. It is principle that someone is trying to make money out of her books by just slavishly copying chunks of her work. I am on JK's side all the way. I am also going to email this particular newspaper writer (some sensationalist nobody from The Daily Mail), and give her a piece of my mind. I doubt that she will listen to some sixth former kid who she's never heard of but I am going to make my point. The way this world is going is ridiculous. JK is standing up for everything that is right and moral, and people who go against this are just power, money, and fame hungry. Unfortunately these people are getting more widespread, for example, Shannon Matthews parents. Anyway, GO JK!!!! Your books are unique and some over obsessed money hungry fan shouldn't ruin your legacy now!
It actually worries me how so many people think it's okay for HPL to make money off the back of someone elses creations and don't see the importance of this case....I hope Jo wins!
i support JK 100%, i cant see how she can lose this case, when the rights are all hers. i think too much fuss has been made out of this case, JK is planning to donate all the proceeds to charity, and she is the one with the right to write this book. i can't wait until the REAL encyclopedia comes out!!
Jo will always have my vote. Harry Potter brings so much to, not only myself, but millions of other folk worldwide. It has brought so many people together under one banner -think about how it could be if the world in general felt like us - what a fabulous place it would be - all peace & tranquility! There would be one consolation if this case spends years in litigation, Jo will have more than enough time to compile & finish HER official book & get it published before the Lexicon, so there could be a silver lining behind this gloomy black cloud!!! But it would be best if 'the other side' did the decent thing & backed off!!
I support Jo 100%. Not only is the lexicon plagerism but it is, according to Jo, sloppy and incorrect. Something like that should never be put to print! I believe an angry letter to RDR Books is in order! Everyone pick up your pens and use the power of words to put a stop to this injustice!
To show my support for Jo I would NEVER buy a book by anyone other than her. She created him and she is the only one who should be allowed to write about Harry!!!
good luck Jo!!! you have so much support from all of your fans. you have changed peoples lives with these books! and i know you can win this case. im totally, 100% behind you. thank you so much for bringing joy to your readers with these amazing books. were rooting for ya !!!
Jo, there is nothing that will ever decrease the effect of the Harry Potter phenomenom and the joy you have given to all the readers. This is just a sad little bump in the road by a pathetic bunch of people that feel that "clerical work" is as valuable as your genius and intellectual property. How can they hope to sway the fandom to purchase something so blasphemous in the name of literature? We love you!
Thank you for standing up for your rights as an artist. No-one has a right to profit off your work, especially against your express wishes, and in such a cheap manner. They have no more right to publish this book than the kinds of people who steal images off artist's websites and sell prints on ebay. Don't back down. We're all behind you.
This is the most absurd thing that anyone should have to go through! Here is a person that feels he is entitled to some reward for the hard work that someone else has done! It is abhorrent and a blatant disregard to not only Ms. Rowling but to each and every one of her fans that have come to know her and her beautiful characters as a kindred spirit. I wish Ms. Rowling peace and sanity through all of this and she will be in my prayers and thoughts. She and her family!!
Jo, we are all backing you 100% and wish you the best of luck, if your a bit sad or maybe a bit deppresed just think of the millions of fans who are in love with your books and respect them above all others We love you Jo Tomxxxxx
I hope J.K. Rowling loses big time. The reasons why are simple: Only the series is over she gave up the rights of the continue of how it may happen with the books. If there is a way, which it is proven now there are ways to continue the series and j.k. rowling can do nothing about it, but sit and be sad for once your working of however may of years it maybe, is finished, the fame and glory ends as well. Go book company!!! I hope you win!!! xxx!!!
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/ id/24189855 ^^this article annoyed the hell out of me^^... we all know the person who wrote it is a HP fan, she mentions stuff that you'd only know if you'd read and fully understood the books. She slates JKR when she has no right to, and knows full well JKR has the rights to everythng to do with HP. We're right behind you Jo. I wouldn't buy a book if I knew it was infringing rights, and we all know the better book would be written by Jo.
This is a support Jo thread. If you want to bash her, create your own website. I'm sure godaddy.com would give you a good deal (or so I hear through Mugglecast each week ((btw, you guys rock!))). After having so much of her life devoted to these books, it's WRONG for someone like RDR to scrap together information from HER writing, compile it all together, and print it out into another book, is purely disgusting! Jo, let me say, you're awesome! You're never alone in this. There are millions of fans backing you up, so don't ever feel like you're alone. If I could cast a patronus to ward off these "dementors" I would without hesitation. You're an amazing, strong willed woman who accomplishes anything she sets her mind to, no matter the circumstances. We all love you and are behind you a bajillion percent. ;-) Keep your chin up, and as you have proven to us, good will triumph over evil. * Encloses a chocolate frog, with a hug *
We wouldn't all be here without you Jo. You're a role model to so many of us, and you've touched all of our lives in so many different ways. You're someone we can identify with, plus you created a book that unites so many. We back you all the way, if you're against it then so are we. No one has the right to take away anything from your books. Good luck with the case, and stay strong. You've been through hell and back, this won't stop you. :)
I support Jo 100% on this. Steve can say that he isn't out to make money, but why else take your website and put it in book form unless you were out to make some money. I'll wait patiently for the "Scottish book".
Keep going Jo
If it wasn't for Jo, all you haters wouldn't be able to put your rants up here.
JO UR MY HERO AND I HOPE U WIN!!!!!! love u , trey
Jo, I'm with you 100%, and I sincerely hope you win! Making money to give to charity is a lot more worthwhile than just making it for personal gain! I love your books and I have for the longest time! Good luck!
Jo, I don't always agree with you 100%, but I am more than 100% behind you on this. You have given millions of people a fantastic series of books, really more like a fantastic journey, and no one has the right to ownership of that world but you. Keep strong; we're all behind you!!
Jo ROX! She's going to win this thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!! Also, what narrowpath said.
My dearest Jo, I wish I could express my infinite amount of support and love for you in words...if only I was as talented at writing as you are, maybe I could. I will forever support and love you in everything you do. My thanks to you for bringing Harry Potter into this world are neverending. My heart and prayers are with you. Much Love [as always], Amanda B. from Colorado Springs, CO
Good luck with everything Jo! We are all supporting you! Thank you so much for giving us Harry and his world. I hope everything works out and you win your case!
Dear Jo, All of your true fans are behind you. We support you. Fight for your rights, always. This is your baby and you deserve it. Love, Prytania As for this Lexicon guy, I say we BOYCOTT THE HPLEXICON. It doesn't deserve to be called part of the fandom. They're not fans, like us. They're done for.
First, a msg to Jo Rowling: Jo, I support u 100%. I am a huge HP fan, and all fans have my back and ur back. U r absolutely right. Know that even if u lose, no true HP fan would buy Lexicon. They know full well u were about to make ur own encyclopedia. Second, a msg to Mugglenet and all HP fans: I, like LadyDiana79, am a writer, and though not professional, understand the connection between a writer and an author. U love ur character, and yes, loads of people dont understand. Where I am, if I speak the way I am speaking now, I might be ridiculed as a geek who is too obsessed about writing. What do we care? Writers give to the world more than most. They help heal this wounded and dangerous world, and people like Jo Rowling are completely right. Lexicon has no right to publish this book. It i theft, and I would be very angry in Jo's place. If Lexicon publishes this book, I hope Jo shows them just how it might feel to do the same thing. If they do publish the book, I call on all HP Fans to but Rowling's, and not so much as move an eye to the Lexicon version. I personally hope Mugglenet shows these msgs to Jo and the lawyers and WB and Lexicon and the judge. All HP fan support her, and all sane people support her, how hard can it be? GO JO GO! GO JO GO! GO JO GO! GO JO GO! GO JO GO! GO JO GO! GO JO GO! Harry_Potter_Princ e
