Anyone else think it's funny that right above the headline for "Harry Potter: The Exhibition" we get the promotional photo of Dan for Equus?

Posted by CROOKSHANKS99 Apr 26th 2008

thats cool i want to know if anyone goes....dont live by new york

Posted by Lady_of_the_Dark_March Apr 26th 2008

I live really close to NYC...So, I could go see it....However, there's the small.....fine, large problem that's my dad....He'll freak once he finds out what it's about and learns about Dan's naked scene. So, there goes that. P.S. Has anyone noticed how a lot of the promo pics for Equus largely consist of phallus symbols!!!?????

Posted by HpAlwaysN4ever Apr 26th 2008

It's off Broadway? The poster for it is umm interesting. If you look closely you can see a horse's head in the shape of Dan's body.

Posted by the_shrieking_snack Apr 26th 2008

Weird! I won't be going. Don't really want to see it. Good luck to Dan anyway...

Whee! Although $116.50 for non-sucky seats? Um HAI do they think we're all freakin' Donald Trump or something? And for $251 for premium seating that had better include backstage passes! :|

Yah I am going ferr surre! lol hopefully

Posted by zyro75 Apr 26th 2008

Oh yay. I you have the opportunity, definitely see this. Saw it in London last year when I was there for Spring break, although I live in upstate New York [meaning not the city]. I'll admit, we probably had the cheapest seats in the house, nowhere near front row, but I still thoroughly enjoyed it. Even without the whole nude bit, it was really good. I forgot I was watching Harry Potter, something I thought would be difficult. I'm only sixteen, but if you're mature enough you can handle the material. Maybe I'll talk Mom into going to see it again in the fall! If you're going, have a brilliant time! =D Gabriella

Posted by dark_nymph Apr 26th 2008

Oh, I REALLY wanna go, but I don't see any way that would be possible!! I could barely afford the tickets themselves, let alone a trip to New York. Wish I could get a real job, but I've got at least a couple years of school left! Oh well. Those of you who can go... good for you, and enjoy the show:)

Posted by adri_ana_ Apr 26th 2008

!!!!!! I want to go !!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by HpAlwaysN4ever Apr 26th 2008

I live so close but it's so expensive!

Posted by nicole_hplover12 Apr 26th 2008

i cannot wait to go and see Dan in Equus in December, its totally worth the $250 ticket its going to be amazing!!!

Posted by thetictacisback Apr 26th 2008

is it coming to australiaaaaaaaaaa?

Posted by nitrogen Apr 27th 2008

I seriously don't want to see Equus...kinda weird...ONE main reason why i dont want to go. HES FREAKING NAKED. I DO NOT WANT TO SEE A NAKED GUY.

Posted by AnyaMarcos Apr 27th 2008

The play is available in book form, you can probably get it at your local library. They have made such a huge deal out of the nude scene, when it only lasts a minute or two. It would be nice if Dan makes a name for himself on Broadway.

Posted by Katharineee Apr 27th 2008

I'm live in England, and might be going. But is there and age restriction? I'll be 16 in October.

Posted by Nameless Apr 27th 2008

I think I'll pass on that.

Posted by redfreckles Apr 27th 2008

anyone else find the picture a little gross?

Posted by Babel Apr 27th 2008

I think the poster is cool--It's Radcliffe, but it's a horse, too. Sure, the horse's eyes as his nips might be a little disconcerting, but isn't the play itself a little strange (only in my opinion--I haven't seen the actual thing, but the plot is a little out there for me)?

Posted by sudokugirl77 Apr 27th 2008

For those of you who complain about tickets being so expensive, it's called GET A JOB! You have about five months from now till opening night to get a summer job and save up. $100 is about the average price of a very good Broadway show these days. I don't see any reason why people have to get so caught up with the shock value factor of Equus. I've seen it performed on my college campus, and it was an excellent play. Daniel Radcliffe even said on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno that he would have been incredibly stupid to turn down such a role. Only truly skilled actors can pull off such a challenging role.

Posted by callie828 Apr 27th 2008

I don't really understand all the negativity towards this play. I'm assuming it's that people don't actually have a clue as to what it is and what it's about. All they see are what look to be sexually-driven promotion photos and the fact that Dan is nude in it and they assume that it's some evil thing. I suggest that people (who are mature enough to handle it --- this is not subject matter for children) pick up a copy of the play and read it. It's a completely fascinating and gripping story. It's been one of my favorites since long before it opened in London with Dan and Richard. I assure people that the nudity (which is incredibly brief) is not playful, nor is it there for the sake of being graphic. There is no way that anyone could possibly have an idea of what this play is about unless they see it/read it --- because one could never imagine this sort of subject matter. Anyway, I have my tickets (I am the Callie that tipped off this news item, actually) and I can't wait to see it. If Dan can play this part well (which critics say he has) then I will have a new respect for him. I personally could never imagine taking it on. I'm excited to see this. I hope many others here have the chance.

Posted by JamesPotter4life Apr 27th 2008

the promo poster is pretty strange. i don't think i will be going to see it. i really dont have any want to see dan nude.

Posted by avada_kedervax3 Apr 27th 2008

[: I'm goingg! As an early grad. present from ze parents! I'll see you guys there. ^^

Posted by james_prongs Apr 27th 2008

why pay $100 to see a nude guy?

Posted by siriusalicious Apr 27th 2008

In the article it should really say that the tickets for the show are FOR sale, not ON sale... because they're not 'on sale', as in, at a cheaper price, they are 'for sale' as in, they are available to be bought.

Posted by Grey Apr 27th 2008

the tickets are absolutely absolutely ridiculously RIDICULOUSLY expensive!!!!!!!!!

Posted by Nameless Apr 27th 2008

The reason I don't want to see it is simply because it fails to interest me. I've read about the story line (I've never read the actual play, so it may be better than I think) and don't really like it very much. Sorry.

Posted by Jeannine Apr 27th 2008

I'm very proud of Dan and his choices he is making in his career.I wish I could go see this but alas I cannot .The VERY BEST wishes for him in portraying this character on Broadway [how great a step for him!!]and to this production may it be all he wants it to be.

Posted by addicted2chocolatenhp Apr 28th 2008

please tell me that is not dan's real body. if it is, he needs food fast. he's skeletal.

Posted by Potterfanatic93 Apr 28th 2008

Okay, I hate to say it but I think the only reason this made it to broadway is because thousands of girls say it just to see dan radcliffe nude. And so far that's the only thing I've heard about the play Equus is that dan radcliffe wears no clothes through out parts of it. That's it. Nothing about the plot or anything about that, just that there's some nude scenes.

Posted by AnyaMarcos Apr 28th 2008

SPOILERS for Equus in this post. The basic story is that the young man (played by Dan) is working as a stable boy. He has a deep love for the horses, hovering on the point of being obscene. This comes from an experience he had as a small child, when while on a family outing at the beach, a man on a horse scooped him up onto the horse and let him ride. His parents, being prudish and overprotective, flipped out, and he fell off the horse. As he grew up and matured, he became obsessed with horses, and even began to worship a horse as his God. One night, in the stables, a girl seduces him, and he tries to have sex for the first time. He can't, because he can feel the horses watching him. He flips out, and runs upstage (naked), and the girl berates and mocks him. He feels betrayed by the horses, so he takes a metal spike, and puts out the horses' eyes, so they can't sneer at him any more. It's after this that he is sent to meet the psychiatrist (Griffiths.)

DANIEL RADCLIFFE IS LOOKING FOR A WOMAN FROM THE AFI'S! Earlier last year, Dan attended the AFI (Australian Film Institute) awards in Melbourne, Australia. The awards were presented at the Melbourne Exhibition centre... Dan presented an award for humour, and lately he has revealed that he was staring at a girl the whole time, who stared intently back at him. He's now LOOKING FOR HER!! I don't know the full details, but Rove has been totally taking the micky out of Dan on his show (Rove is a television show hosted on Ch. 10 in Australia, hosted by comedian Rove McManus). Apparently, Dan is speaking to ALL of the Australian press, and asking for help to find his, as Rove says... "MYSTERIOUS WOMAN." Lol that is sooooo funny. _______________________ _________________________ __________ TO WATCH THE VIDEO ON ROVE WHICH TALKS ABOUT "DAN AND HIS MYSTERY WOMAN," GO TO: http://www.rovedaily.com. au/video.htm. ONCE THE PAGE HAS LOADED, ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE OF THE WEBSITE, YOU WILL SEE A BAR CALLED 'Home' WITH A VERTICAL LIST OF THINGS (eg, some of the listed things are - 'Help Me Hughesy!' and 'Roves Monologue'). CLICK ON 'Petespace.' Then watch the video!! It's basically Peter Hellia talking about Dan and his mystery woman, etc etc. It's SOOO FUNNY!

Although I am sure that Daniel does a credible job as the London reviews have been good - I would really love the chance to see Richard Griffiths on stage. Stage acting is one of his fortes (strong points) He won a Tony for "The History Boys". In the movie made years and years ago Richard Burton played the psychaitrist role and look at what kind of an actor he was. If I was goint it would be to see Mr. Griffiths performance first and Dan's second.

Hey Everyone Harry Potter day is may 23 so show your Support by wearing your Harry Potter gear tell a friend

Posted by ginmo May 3rd 2008

My luck would be that I'd buy the plane ticket, buy the theatre ticket, spend about $800 to fly all the way to NY and to see the show, and it would be the night where Daniel Radcliffe got sick and his understudy had to play the part.
