10 Years Since the Downfall of Lord Voldemort
As revealed in ITV's JK Rowling Documentary which aired back in December, May 2nd, 1998 was the day Harry finally defeated Lord Voldemort within Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.A couple of visitors have asked us to post this wonderful anniversary. And why not? The Battle of Hogwarts within Deathly Hallows was one of the coolest scenes ever created by Jo. It held what we've been waiting to witness since closing Sorcerer's Stone. And who can forget Molly Weasley's infamous line to Bellatrix Lestrange: "NOT MY DAUGHTER, YOU BITCH!"?
So here's to Harry and his triumphant win against He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named. Leave your thanks to Harry and Jo in the comments, and ask yourself: Do Wizards have a name for this anniversary?

w00t!!!!
Oh my gourd! How can you say that!? ". . .this wonderful anniversary. . ." o_O Are ya' mad!? For one thing, it marks the end of the series, because what could possibly go on without Voldemort!? Secondly, it marks the day we lost the two best wizards in the series (and many more besides), Severus Snape, and the Dark One himself, and thirdly . . . VOLDEMORT DIED! If I had lived in that world (the wizarding one) I'd be dead by now too, because I'd have either died as a Death Eater, unwilling to stop for anything, or I'd have probably killed myself. I mean, No Voldemort, No Snape, not even Remus or Fred; what's there left to live for? Not Harry. *growls* That idiot can't do anything right. Heck, he can't even DIE right. I was SO mad (but not surprised) when he woke up alive again. But from whatever stand point you take, how can you celebrate the Dark Lord's fall? (for the reasons I mentioned that don't pertain to being a die hard fan. *glances at two Voldemort posters on living room wall, and drools slightly*) O_O My heart grows heavy every time I think of it. I don't think I've ever cried so hard in my entire life! >_< I can't even bring myself to read the rest of the comments! I made this account just so I could leave this one! (though that doesn't mean I won't use it from now on. :) ) [img]http://fc05.dev iantart.com/fs28/f/2008/0 82/7/e/Voldemort_TAC4_by_ AlmightyTallestVoldy.jpg[ /img] R.I.P. oh cool one. *mutters* Not likely though. -_- *pokes* I drew dat. :P
Dear Merlin, praise the Boy-Who-Lived for he is the one who defeated the dark lord once and for all.
Happy Downfall day :) Our phandom is so amazing :)
Yay! Voldie's dead! And Bellatrix the girl is dead, which is awesome.
In three years (plus a couple months) I am going to King's Cross to see if I can witness the conversation from the Epilogue.
long live harry potter! congratulations to the whole wizarding world! :D and thank you, thank you, i can't say thank you enough, to mrs. jo rowling :]
That is something to celebrate to be sure! Long live the good people! This requires a whisky tonight ;)
This is the most important day in the HP series. Why not call it "All is Well Day"? Or Battle of Hogwarts Day. Or the end of WWIII. The Battle of Hogwarts was one of the best part of the whole series, the perfect way to end it. Just reading the name of that chapter for the first time, when I was reading the book, was so affecting.
Happy Victory Day everyone! Whoo ten years have passed!! Horray for Harry!!! And a thanks to J.K. Rowling for this great story!! I'm going to join you at King's Cross station, YodaDumbledore, maybe we'll get a glimpse of Harry and his children.
Break out the Butterbeers! So long, you heartless b@stard! Oh, and have a happy 8th or 9th birthday, Victoire!
hasn't it been 11 years since lol? anyhoo, happy Boy Who Lived Again day!
awww.. I'm pretty sad, actually because this is how the series ended, but I'm glad that good prevailed in the end. I hope in years to come people will remember this day and the good lives lost (Fred, Lupin, Tonks, Colin...ect) I love you guys!!!!

Happy POTTER DAY to you all! I love that line of Molly's. I'm glad it was her that got to finish Bella off. If it wasn't her then I'd have to say that I would have wanted it to be Neville. It ended with a bang that
s for sure. RIP Lupin Fred Tonks Snape and the other students!Long Live Potter
Ten years since the dark Lord's end. We all must thank Jo for having written these gorgeous, incredible, fantastic friends that are the seven Potter's books. And I must admit that my life wouldn't be the same without Harry. So, Jo, here's my personal 'thank you' for making my life, and I suppose every fan's life, simply... Magic! Harry is a real friend and you are too. Love
The Second of May will no longer be known as any other day, but as the day the wizarding world declared in one voice: "We will not go quietly into the night!" We will not vanish without a fight! We're going to live on! We're going to survive! Today we celebrate our "Victory Day!"
isnt it ironic since Voldemort fell, Bush began to ruin the world, do u think when he falls, someone else will attack another set of countries!? WHEN WILL THE MADNESS END!???? LOL
I think it should be called Victory Day. It's nice and simple. I can't believe that's today, now I'm all excited. Thanks for posting this Andrew!
HURRAH! :P How bout we call it Harry Potter Day? LONG LIVE THE HARRY POTTER BOOKS!
YEAH! ROCK ON HARRY & FRIENDS!!!!!
Happy Voldy's Gone Moldy Day!
I herby declare this day to be Victory Day. I'm going to wear on a sticky note at school that says Ask Me About Victory Day! Happy Victory Day everyone!
Today's also Victoire's birthday!
YAY!!! I love Harry Potter and Jo!!! I agree with Hogwartsgirl52...let's call today Harry Potter Day! :)
thatpotterboy- YOU HAVEN'T BEEN WATCHING INDEPENDENCE DAY HAVE YOU. *INTERNATIONAL HARRY POTTER DAY!*
Not only should we pay true homage to this truly remarkable victory 10 years ago today, but let us never forget those friends we lost: Fred Weasley Remus Lupin Nymphadora Tonks Collin Creevey and over 50 other loyal soldiers. Rest in Peace all our literary friends!!!
Yeah, Happy V-V-Day (Victory Voldemort, ha). Woo! Go Harry Potter! LOL, I'm dancing around my room right now and I'm not really sure why. ;-)

Lupin - His His Wife Tonks - 1 of My Faveorite Weasley ( Fred ) - - Mad Eye Moody - Snape - We shall not forget them too . The other thing I can say Revenge is sweet for Harry plus Lord Voldermort got what He deseves !
Wow it's been 10 years since Harry defeated Voldemort!!!! What are they calling this anniversary?
Don't forget the all the people that died the 1 and 2 of May 1998. R.I.P.
Happy VV Day (Victory over Voldemort). Theres my bid for the name of the holiday.
wow! major spoiler!!! :( but, yeah nice day :) happy end-of-voldy day to you all
After careful consideration I changed my mind about today being called Potter Day. I think it should be called Victory Day instead. It wasn't really all about Harry. He played a huge role but what about the others. What about Ron Hermione Neville..they all destroyed Horucruxs as well. What about the ones who have fallen? I think Victory Day would be better so that Harry doesn't over shadow over the others. It was a victory for the whole wizarding world and the most important thing of all is Voldy is really moldy now!
GO HARRY!! Woooh!!! Thank you! (And to you, too, Jo...) We did it, we bashed them, wee Potter's the one, And Voldy's gone moldy, so now let's have fun!
whoo!!! happy...um... vanquishing of Voldemort day? JKR and Harry are awesome!!! wow, 10 years. Harry would be 27. we're in between the last chapter and the prologue, hope he catches a few bad guys and enjoys the time!!!
WOO HAPPY V-DAY V.2! I think after school I'll go home and read it on this special occasion :]
thank you JKR. i have to agree with APBWD_1, reading and watching the movies gets me away from my stresses and anxieties of the day. in order for me to fall asleep i have to put in a h.p. movie. they help me to "escape my reality" as i like to call it. so THANK YOU JKR THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! as for the day in which this would be called, im sure JKR already had a name for it. we just have to wait and find out. but im glad it ended the way it did. so LONG LIVE HARRY POTTER!!!
I would say thanks to j.k. rowling, but the ending to me was chessy!!! Having harry die, but come back to life, that was just wrong!!! The times of waiting for the seventh book release was time wasted, if you ask me!!!
How about "Victorious Hallows Eve?"
I agree, it's the best scene in the whole series. Thanks Jo and Harry for the wonderful journey! I imagine that they would call this day something like Victus Day or something. Victus is latin for Victory. If it were me I would call it Voldemort Sucks Day...Happy Voldemort Sucks Day!
Thank you JKR....where ever you walk turns to gold. You have brought so much happiness to the whole universe, a generation, a whole decade of eager readers.....good times. We can't wait for the Scottish Book, Jo. Write it as soon as the Lexicon case is closed (with you winning, o'course!) I worship you and all that you do. I support all your causes. I sometimes have weird dreams where you dump the husband, take the kids, and marry Stephen King (!?!) JK Godly is the most inspirational person in the last 50 years, and nobody can take your place in my heart. Queen save the God! (YES THIS IS INTENTIONAL) -DeathlyH
