10 Years Since the Downfall of Lord Voldemort
As revealed in ITV's JK Rowling Documentary which aired back in December, May 2nd, 1998 was the day Harry finally defeated Lord Voldemort within Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.A couple of visitors have asked us to post this wonderful anniversary. And why not? The Battle of Hogwarts within Deathly Hallows was one of the coolest scenes ever created by Jo. It held what we've been waiting to witness since closing Sorcerer's Stone. And who can forget Molly Weasley's infamous line to Bellatrix Lestrange: "NOT MY DAUGHTER, YOU BITCH!"?
So here's to Harry and his triumphant win against He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named. Leave your thanks to Harry and Jo in the comments, and ask yourself: Do Wizards have a name for this anniversary?

Oh and of corse I threw in some annoying my teacher who hates Harry Potter! I def think shes gonna fail me now! Oh and Im celebrating with a big ice cream sunday!
It's funny that this anniversary is on May 2nd, because today is also Holocaust Remembrance Day, at least in the states. Coincidence?
What a happy ending the end of he-who-must-not-be-named what a great day although not real
The End of the Wizarding World Holocaust Remembrance Day.
Best line in all of HP-dom. even though i'm not a big fan of cusswords. YAY FOR JO!!! AND YAY FOR HARRY! AND HAHAHAHAHAHA FOR VOLDY!! hehe-i would probably name it The Day of the Vanquishing of Evil, Especially Horcruxes, Soul-Sucking, and Voldemort, the Evilest Villain Ever to Exist (In A Book)! Or maybe The Love Day. Because love is what triumphed!!! yay!
Agreed with SeventhSoul. :D
maybe V-H Day? (as in V-E Day?) well happy day anyways everyone! we love you JK.

Hooray! It's Harry Potter Day! (Just like Prof. McGonagall said in book 1!)
It's called Voldemort Fails at Life/Potter Owns All day. Happy VFL/POA day!!! =3
Long live Harry Potter and the Battle of Hogwarts! ... If the day isn't known as the "Anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts," I think it should be Victory Day. The UK doesn't have one of those yet as far as I know... Or maybe Laureola Day (or Laurus)? That's Victory in Latin and it would make sense because the wizarding community has a strong affinity with Latin. I'm going to go with that for now... maybe Jo will give us an official title for it? Until then, Happy Laureola Day!
Do you remember where you were on May 2nd 1998? i do...i was in DISNEYWORLD!!!!!it really was a magical day....
Excellent Day! I shall definatly be having a party tonight! ;)
GO HARRY! WOOT! The wizard's call this day He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named Is Dead Day! Woo-hoo!
woohoo! well done harry!!!!
wow, 10 years...happy anniversary everyone! Thank you SO much Harry! And of course Jo...words cant express...thank you.
Hoorah for the Harry's momentous defeat of Voldemort, maybe it should be called something like World War II's VE Day except it would be called VD Day (Voldemort's Dead Day), We're still waiting for the Encyclopaedia, It'll probably be in there, although the wizarding world didn't end up naming 31st Oct 'Harry Potter Day' like Mcgonagall suggested they would, (Philosophers stone) so maybe this wont have a name either, happily awaiting encyclopaedia!
10 years..... wow. this also marks the 10 year anniversary of the death of fred, lupin, and tonks. :( but hats off to harry!
Sweet! 10 years since Voldy The Moldy's downfall! GO Harry Potter! But to bad Fred died :( now the joke shop wont be as exciting...
Wow! Thats so awesome! Long Live Potter! I like downfall day for the name
To quote Minerva McGonagall from Sorcerer's Stone..."I wouldn't be surprised if this day wasn't known as Harry Potter day in the future." So I think the fact that not only has he managed to escape from He Who Must Not Be Named five times and totally destroyed him finally the fifth time, I think the Wizarding World will probably declare it Harry Potter Day!
heh.. voldie got PWN'd day.. that is a sweet day
To Harry Potter! A friend we will never forget.
Yaaaay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! : )
lol remi! And as long as we're discussing anniversaries, don't forget Epilogue Day! September 1, 2017 is the only chance we have to celebrate what happens in the books when they actually occur! (This was my own idea.) Party at Kings Cross! XD
Such a momentous occasion--this should become an actual, observed, off-from-school-and-work holiday for the entire world. It could be a day to celebrate triumph over evil, and the power of the written word, and of love. Happy Day to all.
I think "Day of Light" sounds nice. To honor not only Harry, but everyone who sacrified their lives so that good, or Light, could win.
Wow, ten years. Voldy's gone moldy, that's for sure. But anyway, thank you Jo so much for creating a final battle that was, in short, amazing. I loved seeing all the characters one more time, and the use of the ol' Expelliarmus charm. Anyway, Happy Voldy got pwned day!
I love that we get to celebrate this. Thank you to all who died, and to all who lived. Harry, Ron, Hermione, Ginny, and everyone else: we love you!!!
that is the best day ever! (and worst) Harry killed Voldemort, but FRED DIED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!! I'M STILL IN SHOCK!!!!!!!!!!!!! RON AND HERMIONE GOT TOGETHER!!!! YAY!!!! (MY FAV PART OF THE SERIES!) fred died 10 years ago, but this is the first time we knew about because the book wasn't out on this day last year. And today it has been gloomy and rainy, because fred's gone. conisence, eh? and the blinds went up by themselves in class. i like to think it was fred, playing a prank. lol. FRED AND GEORGE ARE MY FAVORITE CHARACTERS!!!!! RON AND HERMIONE 4EVA. maybe the day should be called VOLDY MOLDY DAY, or WEASLEY DAY ( for fred for risking his life, mrs. weasley (for her faithful words, and ron, of course, for always being there and helping harry. and all the other weasleys. R.I.P. FRED!!!!!!!!!! :( and luipn, tonks, snape, and colin.
I miss you Fred, Remus, Tonks, and everyone we lost ten years ago :( I will always remember you.
Happy Laureolus Day, everyone! :D
such an amazing holiday-celebration!!!! yayyyyy!!!! how about the wizard's new year? mean the chinese have one, so why can't the wizards?!?! its a revelation! woohoohaa!!!!
Also, Bellatrix, may you hopefully have come back as a ghost, cause if not...we all know where you are. DUN DUN DUN.
Yay Harry!

Harry, you are my hero and friend. I will never forget the first time I read your story. Thank you.
Thank you, thank you, thank you Ms. Rowling for sharing the gift of Harry and his world with us all! Just today I heard my 4 year old daughter running around the house saying to her brother "Hurry! Run! We're going to miss the train to Hogwarts!" Your work and your world will live on through a new generation of kids who are just discovering the Boy Who Lived. Thanks again!
Thank you J.K! We all love you! And to our one and only Harry James Potter, who has saved the day! Long live Harry Potter!
