10 Years Since the Downfall of Lord Voldemort
As revealed in ITV's JK Rowling Documentary which aired back in December, May 2nd, 1998 was the day Harry finally defeated Lord Voldemort within Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.A couple of visitors have asked us to post this wonderful anniversary. And why not? The Battle of Hogwarts within Deathly Hallows was one of the coolest scenes ever created by Jo. It held what we've been waiting to witness since closing Sorcerer's Stone. And who can forget Molly Weasley's infamous line to Bellatrix Lestrange: "NOT MY DAUGHTER, YOU BITCH!"?
So here's to Harry and his triumphant win against He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named. Leave your thanks to Harry and Jo in the comments, and ask yourself: Do Wizards have a name for this anniversary?

: ) That is all.
Long live Potter!
Comments to Jo? . Jo, if you're reading this (which I'm not sure why you would be because I bet you have better things to do with your time *cough.encyclopedia.cough *), I think my feelings and those of the entire fandom can be summed up in one word: thanks. For creating this AMAZING WORLD for all of us, and for including the word "girl" in your novel. Directed toward Bellatrix Lestrange. Out of the mouth of Molly Weasley. Now I can die happy. =)
: )

LOL, I got a name for the day...In true Peeves' fashion it should be called "Moldie Voldie's Dead and Coldie" Day!
Awww, missed it, forgot all about it yesterday. Quite an anniversery though. Thanks, J.K.!

"We did it, we bashed them, wee Potter's the one! Now Voldy's gone mouldy so lets all have fun!" WOOOOOT! Congrats Harry on saving the wizarding world! Thanks JKR for giving us the key to a world we never knew existed.
YAY FOR HARRY!!!! a decade since your triump! r.i.p. Fred Weasley :'(
"The Battle of Hogwarts within Deathly Hallows was one of the coolest scenes ever created by Jo." Who says, Mugglenet? That scene was one of the most DISAPPOINTING scenes in the entire Harry Potter series. But thanks for attempting to make a point

I personally like Victory Day best, but if we wanted to go Latin (and I'm sorry if someone has already mentioned this, but I have only read through half of the comments) Victory would be victoria or laurus, so take your pick :)
I've seen lots of people saying RIP to Fred, Remus, Snape, Dobby and others who certainly deserve it, but no one seems to have mentioned HEDWIG! :( She was always there for Harry and although she didn't die on the day of the Battle of Hogwarts, she died as part of the fight!
heyy you guys!!......wouldn't it be funny if it was called "NOT MY DAUGHTER, YOU girl" DAY??!!!! hahah love it....tell me what you think. :)
awwww i missed the anniversery of voldemorts death:( maybe jo will have a name for it in her encyclopedia. cant wait for it btw:)
Pass around the mead and let's toast to volDEFEAT day!
ps.... i seriously wish hagrid would have died also.... I HATE HIM WITH A PASSION!!!!!!!
I take great offense to this..... Sorcerer's... pfft... it's PHILOSOPHER'S!!!!!
that was so kewl!! lord voldemort killing day yest!! woohoo!! 2nd May 1998!! shout out to harry!!
Happy St Potter's Day! When I rule the world, this will be a national bank holiday for everyone.
Ya , I was counting up to this day for a long time - Death of Voldy,, and also Severus Snape:( I think the final battle was amazing, but I just wish there was one scene after everything was over, where Harry is dragging Snape's body out of the Shrieking Shack, and someone asks him why is he even bothering about that traitor,,, and then Harry defends Snape, like Dumbledore once did.. And if anyone's noticed (I'm sure they have) around the last 175 pages of the book all happen on 1 day : the dawn of May 1st till the dawn of May 2nd, and 5 out of the 8 horcruxes were destroyed on that one day
wow! i was 7 years old when this happened. thanks JO!
This is my birthday too! Which makes me happy in the extreme! The only thing which could possibly cause me distress about this is that I was (exactly) 10 at the time and therefore if my leter had ever arrived, I would be too young to be in the same year as Harry/Ron/Hermione, or even be in the school at the same time. :( Woot Dark Lord Downfall Day! Do you think maybe they burn him in effigy like Guy Fawkes?
Yea to Harry for defeating Lord Voldy! Thanks to Jo for introducing us to the wonderful wizarding world. I wish Harry and company had a parade in their honor for defeating Voldy. I don't know what name they would give this day, how about the defeat of Voldemort.? MerryMarge
On may 23 show you support for Jo and Harry cause its Harry Potter day wear cloaks, robes, uniforms, hats, shirts, etc. Help spred the word tell everyone
Yes for the defeat of Voldemort! I have an idea for a name. Not the best, but it's what I got: Harry Potter's Final Victory
Happy insert blank with witty holiday name here day!
Whoo! This is kind of late, yes. But whatever. They should just dedicate the day to Molly Weasley, becasue she is awesome. I wonder if Hogwarts cancels classes for the day.
Voldy's gone moldy
Woot! Go Harry! Way to pwn the dark lord!
I'd like to say congrats to Jo for her great writing and also a congrats to our favorite fictional character Harry Potter! Thanks for the biggest, greatest battle EVER!
I HATE EVRYONE WHOS AGAINST LORD VOLDEMORT! That was the only bad thing in the harry potter books. LONG IVE VOLDEMORT( WELL HIS MEMORY AT LEAST!)
May 2 is my birthday too!!! Woot! xD
To Harry Potter, the Boy Who Lived! Wow, I can't believe I missed the day Harry defeated Voldemort! Final exams must be nearby... I seem to be spending more and more time maniacally studying and typing papers... and going steadily more and more insane!
All HAIL HARRY POTTER! That was the best time of my life! Looking forward to the HP book releases... going to the parties.... being first in line for the movies! I am very sad that there will be no more of the anticipation other than the movies. I have a very awesome chapter in my life now, and I can't wait to share it with my twins (expected in December)! I honestly think Peeves said it best about Harry's defeat over Voldemorte. If you don't know what I am talking about... go back to the book!
That's my birthday! Sweet!
Yeah to Harry`s success!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!
My friend Keith named it "Hogwarts Freedom Day". In remembrance of Fred, Remus, Tonks, Colin, and others who died in the 2nd Wizarding War.
The Battle of Hogwarts; The Wizard Day; We need a really good name. I only realise that i was 9 at that time not 8 lol.
The scottish Day. -.-. No, it would be called Deus Ex Machina day.
That was my favorit line in the book. Shes the best mom ever!!!! Props to everyone who had a hand in that battle. It was a great end to a great beginning. HAPPY DEATH TO VOLDY DAY!!!!
