WHAT!? Dumbledore dies!? roflmao~!

Posted by hpintwense06 May 3rd 2008

ooo exciting.... but why would he be in the death scene? huh, but still, this is exciting news! everyday i keep checking back for movie news!!!

Posted by warlocksandmuggwumps May 3rd 2008

um... wait a sec... Lucius was at school with tom riddle, right? well he was also at school with Snape...who was at school with James and Lilly. so either Lucius had to be 11 when the chamber was opened for the first time or Riddle had just left the school before Lilly and James and Snape came to Hogwarts. and obviously, from this Lucius was older so wouldn't riddle have had to be at school when Snape was or otherwise Lucius wasn't there? which contradicts the books.... anyway... i guess he looks pretty good for him, i can't really tell though... i hope he's a good actor.

Posted by kooldude10694 May 3rd 2008

I don't remember young Lucius being in HBP..... and Tony does look kind of like the guy who plays Lucius.

Posted by alexxx May 3rd 2008

idk i guess he could do a good job. top 10?

Yes! More casting news!

Posted by grednforge May 3rd 2008

he's actually looks pretty good for the part.

Posted by bongahead May 3rd 2008

He does look good for the part of young Lucius Malfoy; however I don't remember any parts for Lucius in HBP. Lucius was at school during Snape's time (and Lily, James, Sirius, etc), he was seen in OOTP in "Snape's Worst Memory" and definitely not during Tom Riddle's time, who is much older. And then again, how could YOUNG Lucius Malfoy be there for the death seen of Dumbledore? Did he come back from the past or what? It makes no sense!

Posted by Kareen May 3rd 2008

oooo good choice. just dye his hair blonde and then he'll be perfect.

Posted by narglelvr May 3rd 2008

seriously, when is young lucius in the book? I don't remember him being in the memories during harry and Dumbledore's lessons or anyhing

Posted by thepottermermaid May 3rd 2008

He mentions that he was an *extra* in Dumbledore's death scene: 'I was also an extra in Dumbledore

Posted by gillyweed743 May 3rd 2008

Seriously, I think that David Yates should focus more on actually making the movie good. I don't want another Order of the Phoenix. It was waaaaay to short. I mean, I think he would be a great Lucius, I just don't think we need Lucius.

Posted by wtfomghaxx0rz May 3rd 2008

Okay guys. It makes sense. It shows the audience how Slughorn isn't the best at picking the right students to favor. The director probably doesn't think many would notice/care about the little bit of non-canon. It'll probably just be like "Oh, Malfoy, you are too funny. Here, have some pumpkin juice." And Danrad will be like " :O :O OH NO! SLUGHORN ISN'T GOOD PEOPLE". And the guy is an EXTRA in the death scene, which means he'll just be in all the ruckus and fighting and there'll be lots of shiny special effects in the battle so we won't even notice that that guy was already in the movie earlier. It happens in movies a lot for extremely minor characters.

Posted by luvlupin May 3rd 2008

so he's pretty hotttt =)

Posted by GeorgeusGirl May 3rd 2008

How fabulous, another Potter boy to ogle at.

Posted by trueligth May 3rd 2008

He looks like Malfoy Sr. welcome to the Magical family of Harry Potter. I can wait to see him in tha movies.

Posted by angelina_johnson92 May 3rd 2008

OMG, he is soooo hot! I can't recall any scenes with a young Lucius in the books, and how could he be in Dumbledore's death scene? This is weird, I'm still waiting for news about the Gaunts!

Posted by he_brah_hamsta May 3rd 2008

The only scene I can possibly think of with a young Lucius is Snape's memory of his sorting when you see him as a prefect. But that was in DH, and I just hope that we don't lose actual important people like the Gaunts for random minor characters with no book mention.

Posted by obsessedwithhp21 May 3rd 2008

wow. no lucius in hpb. and he is definitely too hot looking to be the young version of malfoy. ;) but hey. maybe he will be good and will start getting awesome movie parts. hooray.

Posted by ALe_Av May 3rd 2008

I also don't rember him on HBP, but I gotta read it again cause there's a lot I can't remember, anyway, I think he suits the part really well!

Posted by peroxwhy_gen May 3rd 2008

Did JK approve of this? I'll be shocked if she did. Lucius was in Snape's schooltime, not Riddle's. He was a Prefect, so he had to be either 15, 16, or 17 in Snape's time. And the only flashbacks are around Riddle. Unless Lucius took some really bad aging potion, there is no need. darn you, whoever decided this!

Posted by almightytallestvoldy May 3rd 2008

Excuse me? o_O I may be mistaken, but as I recall, there is no NEED for a young Lucius Malfoy. He is most certianly not as old as Voldemort (in fact, Voldemort could easily be his GRANDFATHER), and why on earth would he be in the scene where Dumbledore dies? I have a BAD feeling about this. >_

Posted by ALe_Av May 3rd 2008

^he's just an extra on dumbledore's dead escene

Posted by michiev May 3rd 2008

O_o why is everyone FREAKING out over this!??! obviously jo approved of it, otherwise they never would have done it. and voldemort isnt as old as you think he is, AND how many times does this have to be said. you know in movies when they have EXTRAS for certain scenes...? well, hes not playing young Lucius in the dumbledore death scene, hes playing an extra that will probably only be in the frame for about a second, and you wont be able to see him properly. so why does it matter if hes in that scene if hes not playing the character he played earlier on in the movie. and also, young lucius, i dont remember if he was in the HBP, but does it matter? they're adding a scene at the burrow, and nobody's complained about that. so why should they complain about this. these movie people know what they're doing. and david yates is the best. he only does whats best for the movies, which in the fifth ones case was REMOVING quidditch. thank you. /end rant

Posted by Shanael May 3rd 2008

Actually, Voldemort is quite a bit older as everyone is saying, michiev, he was at least 15/16ish 50 years previous to Harrys being at school when the COS was first opened. Though I agree that a young Lucius really is completely unnecessary, it's really not that big of a deal.

Posted by Quantummilkshake May 3rd 2008

If they do something hugely factually incorrect-- such as putting young lucius in voldemort's 17-ish time-- then i will be very upset!!

I dont remember in which book they gave his age but I remember doing the math and finding out that he was 16 when voldy first rise to power took place, he is als never mentioned with voldemort in the pensieve scenes in the books(for that reason), We know all the names of the DE on the tower that night. This only adds up to the news that Bellatrix is in the HBP film(something about her being in the attack on hogwarts scene). Until now I told everyone that I'll wait to see the movie before giving an opinion but now it's starting to worry me. Too many little things that dont really matter add up to one big thing full of mistakes that really does matter.

Posted by bEtHyBoP13 May 4th 2008

Cool! Maybe there's a little flashback to the old Slug Club. Idk I'm sure it will be fine whatever they do! ♥

Posted by Natalie87 May 4th 2008

I NEED SOME PICS AND A TRAILER NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ! (Sorry for shouting but I can't wait any more!!)

Posted by SlytherinBabe May 4th 2008

omg he really does look like Lucius! and what a hottie just like the adult version!! =D

Posted by claerwen7 May 4th 2008

why are they adding scenes in the movie that weren't even in the book? they better not ruin the movie.

Posted by hpintwense06 May 4th 2008

huh. that's weird. on the mugglenet story it says he was an extra for the death scene, but then when you click on the translation link, it doesn't say that. lol. oh & i agree with Natalie87 - we do need some pics! but i hear the trailer is coming really soon.

Posted by Abergoat May 4th 2008

You guys overreact way too much. So they change Lucius' age a bit, it doesn't make any major difference.

Posted by NDS May 4th 2008

maybe he will be one of the Deatheater on the Tower, but he will be some other DE(deatheater)...probably that...

Posted by loveslupin May 4th 2008

Do you guys have any common sense at all? He's an EXTRA in the Dumbledore death scene which means he's NOT playing Lucius Malfoy at THAT particular moment. And as to the young Lucius bit...its probably just an added Slughorn memory or else a Riddle memory with Voldemort meeting young Lucius before the serious Death Eater stuff took off. The writers ARE allowed to add stuff like that...its not exactly gonna change the entire plot...CHILL people!

there was no young lucius in HBP, they need to stop putting characters in the movies that weren't in the books.
