Half-Blood Prince Sneak Peek by way of Yarn company
Half-Blood Prince Sneak Peek by way of Yarn company RupertGrint.net has spotted these new spools of yarn from German yarn company Opal. They have a new Half-Blood Prince collection with 8 color themes to be released Fall 2008. Each of the themes represents one character from the sixth Potter film and includes a picture.

Those characters include Harry, Ron, Malfoy, Lupin, Tonks, Dumbledore, and Hedwig. Tonks most notably has a new, much shorter, haircut. Check 'em out in our gallery!

Posted by BlackKat May 9th 2008

Hehe, that's really cool :)

Posted by luminous_star May 9th 2008

Is this for real? *laughs slightly* ...I think I have that same ball of yarn-- except without the spiffy new Potter-ized tag...

Posted by tiassa May 9th 2008

Cool indeed. And a nice way to make money. But still cool

Posted by einnej May 9th 2008

Yarn? Really?

Posted by Padfoot_Squarepants May 9th 2008

I see no Lupin. But there is Draco.

Posted by sootyface May 9th 2008

This is very bizarre. Yet weirdly cool! Strange and eccentric...but in a good way. I think. H.

Posted by angelina_johnson92 May 9th 2008

Ummm, that's... different. But it's pretty cool. If I ever make a Weasley sweater, I'll make sure I'll use that yarn.lol

Posted by Dragon_queen4ever May 9th 2008

@Padfoot_Squarepants There is lupin, I saw him. look again

Posted by narglelvr May 9th 2008

this is ool and original, but also a little strange, but that's all right!

Posted by Lonnie May 9th 2008

Well I hope for tonks' sake that was just an unlucky photo. It's so horrible! The hair! It looks brown to me, but might be the light. I love the one of Remus, just wish it was more clear! I need more Remus photos!! Yiha! *Crosses fingers* I hope the angle is just wrong on Tonks because it looks like she has a mullet...

Posted by Raezing May 9th 2008

Yes! More reason for me to buy more yarn for knitting projects. Hmmm, maybe I can use some of these for christmas presents... Hooray for Harry Potter news once more.

Posted by Rose37 May 9th 2008

The pictures are alright, but the pics are only there for fans to buy, so that the companies can get the MONEY!!! It is all about the money, but the pics are still cool. I just don't get how just their character could show what happens in movie six??? Can someone please help explain!

Posted by MagicMaker222 May 9th 2008

I couldn't view the yarn on this site I had to go look on RupertGrint.net. Then I got caught up looking at his gorgeous self..he's so hott. Wow got sidetracked again thinking about him..lol Anywho..the yarn is pretty cool but only one question: Where is Hermione's spool of yarn? Is she not good enough to have her own yarn..but yet Hedwig has her own yarn. Ugh dumb german yarn makers!

Posted by flibbertigibbit May 9th 2008

harry potter yarn? wow, just... wow.

Posted by originalsamshu May 9th 2008

I was a little worried about the direction and tone of the movie before...but now that there's YARN!!!! I'm PSYCHED!!!! YARRRRRRRRN!!!!!! All twelve people around the globe that actually knit are probably just as fired up as I am about this. I still can't believe it... YARN!! Maybe I can get Gram-Gram to knit me some Dobby-esqe socks.

Posted by Emma_Granger_Rulz May 9th 2008

There is no Hermione! Or is there???

Posted by xlolliqueenx May 9th 2008

I knit like ALL the time! I would absolutly love to get my hands on this yarn! I wonder if it will be available in the US or on some website. I must get this yarn!!!

Posted by peroxwhy_gen May 9th 2008

I would like to have these just to have these. But they don't make me want to give up my Slytherin afghan I'm working on to make something with these.

Posted by the_shrieking_snack May 9th 2008

Yarn! ...that's funny! ...lol... i'll look on eBay for some "HP collectable yarn" haha!

Posted by loony4luna May 9th 2008

Hahah, woww. "Coppermine critical error: Unable to connect to database ! MySQL said: Too many connections" D'= Dang it!

Posted by vsoccer24 May 9th 2008

Which one is Dumbledore? All I saw was tonks, hedwig, harry + ron together, harry, ron, lupin, and I think Hermione...unless I am blind =)

Posted by Rose37 May 9th 2008

I just remember there is no yarn for Hermione, she is one of the trio and she is my favorite character of the whole series!!! That is just not right!!! Also, Professor Snape is HOT!!!

Posted by vsoccer24 May 9th 2008

Haha just kidding. I figured it out. The one that is not very clear is Dumbledore, not Hermione. And there is Draco too. So just ignore my last post...

Posted by HungarianWitch May 9th 2008

I'm so laughing my head of! Yarn? :D:D Oh, God! I went to opalsockyarn.com and there was this: Harry Potter- Fall'08... :D What will be the next step? Harry Potter underwear? But I guess, people who are interested in yarn AND HP are extremely happy now. And the others had somethimg to laugh about! :)

Posted by tiassa May 9th 2008

The funny thing is that Hermione actually does knit....

Posted by peroxwhy_gen May 9th 2008

I've actually seen Harry Potter underwear. Dollar General had them.

Posted by the_shrieking_snack May 9th 2008

This might be obvious, then again, it might not- if you go to "Full-screen Mode" (one of the upper right buttons) you can get bigger views of 'the yarns.' Its still funny its yarn of all things...lol...!

Posted by AbyBlutjager May 9th 2008

WHAT? That's really odd.... yarn. Oh, wait. I get it. It's a tie-in to the running bit about knitting. Haha, good one! :) Anyway, this is Half-Blood Prince we're talking about, so why no yarn for Snape??

Posted by AbyBlutjager May 9th 2008

I had the same problem and had to go to the Rupert Grint site. I didn't see one for Dumbledore.... I'll go look again.

Posted by AbyBlutjager May 9th 2008

Oh, there he is. I just didn't see an 8th page earlier.... :)

Posted by MBish024 May 9th 2008

darn! i wish i could knit now..

Posted by colorfulcrocs May 9th 2008

So I'm guessing the HBP teaser trailer didn't come out today?

Posted by member_of_SPEW May 9th 2008

haha that's awesome

Posted by Taure May 9th 2008

A controversial story, to be sure. :p

Posted by bother07 May 9th 2008

Yes!!!! Finally! We Harry Potter obsessed knitters have to be the happiest people in the universe now!!!!

Posted by poofer May 9th 2008

Wow, isn't that really really old news?

Posted by aragog141 May 9th 2008

Somewhat OT, MagicMaker222 and AbyBlutjager, I have problems viewing too. Is Coppermine having trouble or is it just me? Slow as molasses. On topic, now I wish I could knit. :-( Cool.

Posted by cardinalgirl May 9th 2008

Ron YARN. Oh my bloody hell. Maybe this only makes sense if you're a knitter, but that's almost dirty. >.>

Posted by cal526 May 9th 2008

Woo! It looks like Tonks' hair is finally short in this one! I just don't understand why they didn't have it like that in the first one...although I do kinda have to admit the hairstyle could be a bit...well, better. Oh well. I'm still happy though they changed her style. And I love her stripey shirt! :)

Posted by the_patronus_seeker May 9th 2008

Thats kinda wierd, yarn? Hey does anybody know how to get back on the chat after being kicked out?

Posted by silbi May 9th 2008

yarns come in skeins, not spools. i have seen this a long time ago but people thought it was a fake promo. pretty cool though. i like hedwig and draco's colorways. i have no idea why hermione wouldnt have one - hers could have been purplish hues like her dress in GoF movie. Is there a Snape one? the mugglenet gallery was too slow for me so i looked them up on Opal but there was no Snape!

Posted by Magicalme4706 May 9th 2008

i knit a little i am not that great but i can make simple things... these yarns are great color combos but this is a just a little weird come on now harry potter yarn! it like going to a store and they have meat that says harry potter just because there is a logo on it... this is just to weird to me and seems like yet another way to make money..

Posted by Jimmy_D May 9th 2008

Anyone else think this is a bit gimicky? The yarns are nice and all like they picked the right colors for the characters but this seems to be milking the franchise. What's next Harry Potter markers?

Posted by Rose37 May 9th 2008

I totally agree with you Jimmy_D!!! By the way, nice user name Jimmy_D!!!

Posted by Moaning_Myrtle May 9th 2008

I love knitting! I have a whole book on harry potter knitting, too! It would be so cool to have that yarn ; )~Myrtle~

Posted by honeydukes0209 May 10th 2008
