Harry Potter actors attend SuperCon 2008
Harry Potter actors attend SuperCon 2008 SuperCon 2008 was held over the weekend in Weston, Florida. Potter actors Natalia Tena (Tonks), Devon Murray (Seamus), Hugh Mitchell (Colin Creevey), and Danielle Tabor (Angelina Johnson in SS through POA) were all present during the event and participated in a panel discussion.

Snitch Seeker has video of their talk right here. In it, they talk about their favorite Potter characters, fan experiences, and whether or not they've read Deathly Hallows (they all say no).

Posted by slugclubgirl77 May 26th 2008

awesome i wish i could have gone =[. I can't believe they haven't read the books... don't they want to find out what happens especially because they're in the movies?

Posted by honeydukes0209 May 26th 2008

Finally some news! Sounds cool, though...huh, they didn't read DH?

Posted by Lucas May 26th 2008

I don't get how they wouldn't read DH if they are in the movies, also how am I the 5th comment at least 14 minutes after this was posted. There used to be 10 comments in the first 30 seconds...

Posted by Rose37 May 26th 2008

Frist off: I am soooooooooooo, glad I wan't the frist one to comment on this topic. I STILL SAY WE SHOULD CONTINUE TO SHOW ARE LOVE FOR THE FAMILY MEMBERS AND FRIENDS OF THE FALLING HP ACTOR. Secondly I am too mad that I wasn't able to go to the event. I have never once want to a hp event and I am a hp fan for goodness saks!!! Thridly How could they have not read all seven books when they are also hp fans.

Posted by member_of_SPEW May 26th 2008

haven't read DH ... grr.

Posted by the_shrieking_snack May 26th 2008

They should so read DH! its such a good book! w00t for the panel discussion!!

Posted by canarycream23 May 26th 2008

I find it odd that none of them haven't read DH!!!!!!!! I mean, you're in the movies, aren't they at least interested in what happens? I must say I'm quite disappointed :(

Posted by Rose37 May 26th 2008

This just proves that the books are better than the movies, but movie seven better be as close to the book as the crew and actors/actresses can get the movie, or else!!! Movie seven, like book seven isn't just the best book/movie in the series. They are also the most imporant and valueable too!!!

Posted by HJaneWeasley May 26th 2008

awesome!! I wish i could have been there

Posted by Larael May 26th 2008

It really peeves me that none of them have read the books. Without the books they wouldn't even have the parts they're getting paid for. *rolls eyes* It doesn't take much energy to sit down and just read one book. Seriously people...

Posted by Trucker May 26th 2008

Actually there is a valid reason for not reading DH if you have ANY reason to believe you'll be acting in it: You don't want to go into work with a different vision of DH than the director! It takes time and energy to forget everything you "know" about the movie you're shooting and to replace it with the director's vision.

Posted by tiassa May 26th 2008

guys they dont have to read the books. I know its irritating for us obssesed fans. But there are people out there who are some out less of a fan. I myself wouldnt call them fans at all, rather they just enjoy the story and nothing more. I know its annoying but deal with it. They are good actors.

Posted by ginerva_weasley May 26th 2008

Hugh Mittchell? WHAT?!? Weird that he'd come to this, seeing as he's a punk-rocking long-haired drummer now. I remember freaking out when I saw his band's myspace. Its not exactly a mirror image of Colin. ---------------- truck er: i'm pretty sure it'd be worse going into an HP movie with a different veiw than Jo's. Besides, we all see how Micheal Gambon does Dumbledore. Why? Becuase he doesn't read the books, and therefore is clueless. Anyone else remember: 'HARRY, DIDJA PUT YAH NAM IN DAH GOLBE DEH FIYAH?!?'

Posted by free23allie May 26th 2008

Yay news! Haven't read DH!?! Wouldn't they want to know if and how they died and such. If I knew I was going to be acting in a movie based off a book, I would read it, to know my character more. Plus its Harry Potter!! I mean cmon!! Sure they're good actors, but since I do plays and stuff myself, I need to learn as much as I can about my character!!! I guess we can't expect all the actors to by like evanna lynch and be apart of the fandom. This is a huge movie and there should be people apart of it that are dedicated to the series! Thats just my opinion, and its mostly the fan in me talking lol

Posted by Rose37 May 26th 2008

No, guys, Trucker is right. Knowing your character is great, but when seeing the same thing as someone else turns into two different points of view. Well that is when the fighting starts and you don't want to start fighting with someone who is higher in power. Fighting will only lead you down the road of death or poorness!!!

Posted by the_shrieking_snack May 26th 2008

Or victory...if you win the fight. jk Rose37.....lol....

Posted by The_Oddball May 26th 2008

Oh my God, Hugh Mitchell is Hot! I mean, drop dead hot! Wow! Long, curly blonde hair with a british accent.... dreamy. What was that about a myspace? COuld someone give it to me.....

Posted by ginerva_weasley May 26th 2008

Okay, I'm slowly starting to see your point. But, just out of curiousity, do you think everyone knows when and how they died? They're probably aware that they have died, due to the fact that the books been out for a little under a year, but other than that they might not know.

Posted by atthisvelocity May 26th 2008

Hey, I was there! And after watching that video I realize that I asked about 50% of the questions O.O... They were super cool but this isn't the whole Q&A.. there's bits missing at the beginning and at the end. ------------- and ginerva_weasley, They do know when and how they died-- I asked them. Hugh said himself he's not bothered by his character's death, and Nat is fine with it. She thinks more people should have died actually, lol.

Posted by rooon May 26th 2008

Cool!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!! : )

Posted by LoonyLuna127 May 26th 2008

Did anyone think "OMG" when they saw Hugh Mitchell? I hadn't seen him since the Chamber of Secrets, and holy crap has he grown. 8-O

Posted by CROOKSHANKS99 May 26th 2008

cute and cool :)))

Posted by evanna11 May 26th 2008

I'm gonna look at that film tomrrow. I'm too tired now. Yay news:). but NONE of them have read DH? I wonder if they have all read wikipedia about the book:P If this comment makes no sense..I will post another one tomorrow. I'm just so tired..*yawns* goodnight people!

Posted by Deana May 26th 2008

None of them have read DH? That's an insult.

Posted by insanephoebe May 26th 2008

Even people who don't like HP should read it....

Posted by CrimeofPassion May 26th 2008

Y'know, it's not like they HAVE to read the books to do a decent job in the movie, but for crying out loud, you think they would want to. Like someone else said, it's not that hard to sit down and read it. It's just a bit shocking when the HP actors haven't read the books. Makes no sense to me, and seems like a stupid move... If I were playing a character from a book, I'd be reading that baby every chance I got, so I would do the character justice. Common sense, isn't it? Of course, so many of the movie characters are different from the book's *cough*Dumbledore*cough* that I suppose you may not want to read them, seeing as the director wants something completely different.

Posted by honeydukes0209 May 26th 2008

When I first saw everyone in the video, it didn't dawn on me that the guy with the long hair...was the guy who played Creevey...huh. But yeah, I agree with what everyone's been saying ^ there

Posted by Larael May 26th 2008

*bows down* Thank you CrimeofPassion for stating what you just did. It seems ridiculous that they can't read one book. I mean, how much of a sacrifice is that? It may even give them better insight as to how they should portray their character. I just don't understand it...

Posted by markstrange May 26th 2008

They are busy people!!! plus, they're going to read the script when it comes.

Posted by ginerva_weasley May 26th 2008

Reading the script is so NOT the same! Look at everything they've had to leave out of the movies! *cough*PEEVES*cough* That, and however much I love the Kloves, he's not exactly the same as Jo.

Posted by CrimeofPassion May 26th 2008

Markstrange, yes, they are busy, but it's not like they're slaving away 20 hours a day flipping burgers like some of us. They're CELEBRITIES. XD If I can find time to read 'em, I'm sure they can, especially since the books are so relevant to their own (crazy awesome) job.

Posted by LollyThePop May 26th 2008

So Nat let it slip again that Dumbledore's funeral is being cut? Can we get some official word from WB about this at any point, please?

Posted by superfish31 May 26th 2008

I agree with CrimeofPassion COMPLETELY. Dumbledore's funeral is being cut out?! What an insult to his memory! D:

Posted by slugclubgirl77 May 26th 2008

Where did it say Dumbledore's funeral is getting cut out? I hope its not .. that would just be really sad =[[.

Posted by SlytherinBabe May 26th 2008

If Dumbledore's funeral is cut out i will go on strike. Seriously. And after reading the points of view about the "haven't read DH" thing, i realize that yes, i think if i was portraying character in the movies then i would want to get as much bg on that character as i could but then again, the directer may want something different from my performance as that character in the movie than in the book. But i would know the book version of that character in the back of my mind as i was trying to play the script/directer version so it may get a bit difficult. But on the other hand,i would be extremely curious to find out what happens. Even when they r in the DH movies and they will know what happens, they should still read it after they r down filming or else that would be a disgrace.

Posted by superfish31 May 26th 2008

It was on the blog link on the page where the video was. ^

Posted by rooon May 26th 2008

Cool!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!! : ) I love all of those characters. Especially Tonks. I think that Natalia Tena is absolutely amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!! : )

Posted by angelina_johnson92 May 26th 2008

I would love to go to one of those. What ever happened to Hugh Mitchell? Why did he have to be replaced by Nigel?

Posted by superfish31 May 26th 2008

Well, I think it's pretty clear that the funeral IS cut out, but I've lost hope in the movies ever since POA. Becaue In the blog, that I actually read all of it, (it was quite long), it said she was freaking out and cussing and said she would be in a lot of trouble (Natalia - 'tonks' - was, that is). I find it very dissapointing. So much so, that I'm begining to look forward to the Twilight one more the HP6. ):

Posted by hedwiglives May 26th 2008

As others have said, I am SO mad that Dumbledore's funeral won't be in the movie. Reading it, I totally pictured how it could look on screen. It has potential to look amazing, and if they don't include it, it would be a shame. -And Colin Creevy aka somebody Hougton looks not so Colin Creevy-ish. Wierd.

Posted by hpninjaskills May 26th 2008

Dumbledore's funeral is not going to be in HBP? Well then, excuse me while I go and cry my eyes out. :/ This is very disappointing. How are they going to end the movie then? It had better be good, because DD's funeral was a good part in the book. Are they just going to end the movie right when Snape kills DD?! They might as well do that then! Instead of cutting out the darn funeral part. But hey, I don't know what's going to happen at the end, so I'm keeping my mouth shut & I won't throw out any insults or whatever .... :|

Posted by britishwannabe May 26th 2008

This is utter BS. WHat the hell is this? It's kind of pathetic that NOT ONE of these people have read Deathly Hallows.....but putting that aside, WHY is Dumbledore's funeral being cut? At this rate, they'll cut every single remotely important scene and add a bunch of irrelevant and downright stupid nonsense that is apparently intended to be humorous. gahhhh.....I'm losing faith in this movie. I mean, I love Harry Potter to bits, but these movies are not EVEN CLOSE to doing the books justice. Stupid Warner Bros. grrrrr.

Posted by the_shrieking_snack May 26th 2008

Well, they stuck in a toilet-animagus, and THAT'S good......*sarcasm*.....

Posted by TonksRocksMyBroomstick May 26th 2008

It's cool to see Hugh going to one of those things again. From my knowledge, I don't believe he's been to one for a while. But oh my, he is still georgous XD Nat looks pretty too. I love the vid of her having a "sword fight". XD

Posted by Rose37 May 26th 2008

The video doesn't work for me, but by the pictures, the guy who plays Colin, looks more like an young adult at the age of 18 years old than at the age of 15 years old.

Posted by sleepymel May 26th 2008

I have to agree with britishwannabe - I can't understand how some of the scene choices were made for this movie. If they want to make a movie about silly fluff relationships and kissing, do it somewhere else. If anything, that was the part of the book that could be cut out (or at least super-condensed) without affecting the overall plot. But come on, first the rumors of cutting the Gaunts out and now this? What's next? We find out Snape's role is cut down to one scene in which he walks through the dungeon moodily? By cutting out important emotional scenes and critical background information, they're making the story seem shallow. I don't know. The more I hear about this movie, the less excited I am for it. That really disappoints me.

Posted by ginerva_weasley May 26th 2008

Slightly off topic, but am I the only one dissapointed with the fact that this has been up for a day and we barely have one full page of comments? A few years ago at this time we'd have a least a few hundred comments and twenty different arguments going at once. Note: I am not saying Harry Potter or the fandom is dead. Do not yell at me. Just point something out.

Posted by rooon May 26th 2008

Cool!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!! : ) I love all of those characters. Especially Tonks. I think that Natalia Tena is absolutely amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!! : )
