Author J.K. Rowling helped raise £320,436 for multiple sclerosis last night as host of the Enchanted Garden Ball at Harburn House in Scotland. The top item for auction was the chance to be "immortalized" as a wizard or witch in a portrait at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park at Islands of Adventure at Universal Studios Florida. The park is set to open late 2009 or early 2010. Rowling is a patron of the Multiple Sclerosis Society Scotland with her mom, Anne, having battled the disease.
