Mark of the amazing wizard rock band Marked as His Equal has announced in his latest blog that he will be unable to attend and perform at Portus 2008 as scheduled due to being diagnosed with cancer and having to go in for further surgery.
Mark is confident that the cancer will not be fatal, though he needs to have several lymph nodes removed as a precaution. Further details can be found in his blog. Please leave him comments, love, and well-wishes on MySpace!

this is a big fandom, mark. please remember how much you are loved just by the fact that you are one of the wonderful few who has done something extraordinary with the HP canon. we all love it... but you have the ability to interpret and put your own stamp on it, which i (and plenty others) enjoy and am thankful for. get some rest, cause we all hope to be seeing you wrocking out soon!

Just know that you have tens of thousands of people thinking of you and keeping you in their prayers! One thing Ive learned is that Harry Potter created a community that doesnt just concern their individual selves with these books, but they are a real community that cares for each other, Ive learned that in my own way far more than many people. Those who run this site have learned that, and you as a Wizard Rocker have learned this. Its incredible and I know you will pull through with so many wonderful people supporting you every step of the way!! I wish you the best of luck, I know you will pull through this. Ive had many friends and family members battle cancer, and yes, it is a battle, but keep fighting and never give up, remember that all of us are here thinking about you. I know you can beat this!!
