The auction, to be held at the Cameo Fine Art Auctioneers in Bath Road, Midgham, is expected to receive between £15,000 and £20,000. We'll let you know how much they actually do go for! Wow that would be an awesome set of books for any Harry Potter fan to own!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2008-07-01 00:00:46

Oh I dont know what I wouldnt do to own those! Top 3?

Posted by: - Posted on: 2008-07-01 00:05:18

Oh they will go for more than that, I guarantee it.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2008-07-01 00:22:20

I saw on an episode of mtv cribs, that jack osbourne had a first edition set of the Lord of the Rings books, but they werent signed I think...those were worth 40,000 us dollars. So I bet ickle_diddykins is right about them going for more than they are saying! I wish I had that kind of money laying around.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2008-07-01 00:22:27

Wouldnt that be nice to have? Hmmm...cant wait to see how much they actually go for.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2008-07-01 00:44:27

If 800 words signed by JK Rowling went for 25.000 pounds, I think 7 first editions that are signed will go for considerably more. Which is tragic, seeing as Im close to broke.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2008-07-01 01:36:56

XD wowz...thats a lot money that will be put into that collection... top 10? if i were rich, heck Id go for it XD

Posted by: - Posted on: 2008-07-01 04:29:26

I want!!! They are so pretty...

Posted by: - Posted on: 2008-07-01 04:45:33

I have books 1-5 in that format. Very nice, material covers, gold page edging, and nice paper. Not first editions though...

Posted by: - Posted on: 2008-07-01 05:41:54

Thats great! I wonder if a portion of it will go to charity? If I had enough money, I would SO buy it! Unfortunately, my parents would probably yell at me for getting another set of Harry Potter books when my current ones are in perfect working order. Oh, and i have the 7th book in that format too.. I was so surprised when my mum came home from the bookstore with that special copy - and First Edition too! Sadly though, its not signed. But I have never torn off the plastic covering it, and have never really laid my hands on the actual cover and have never read that copy. I have my OTHER, normal copy for that. Also, Im thinking of making it a family heirloom to pass down to my sons and/or daughters in the future... wow, I wonder what itll be worth then... O_O

Posted by: - Posted on: 2008-07-01 07:20:44

I wouldnt mind just the 6th book (my favorite) or any one really. Im a good cause!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2008-07-01 07:46:33

gosh id love that!!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2008-07-01 08:03:00

Here we go again. Only certain books that are auctioned that can be afforded by rich people are available. It leaves us poorer fans envious of something we would like but cant have. Sigh. Not fair to us poor people.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2008-07-01 08:12:17

Yea, they will definitly go for more then 15,000 or 20,000 pounds. I agree with merrymarge, I wish that I could afford one of these.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2008-07-01 08:34:54

wow, theyre so amazing looking. i wish i had that much money. i dont know why people spend so much money on other crap like million dollar shoes than these books! only us nerds.... =]

Posted by: - Posted on: 2008-07-01 09:54:14

Flip! I want these. :( I so think the winning price will be higher than 15-20G!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2008-07-01 09:59:57

Wow! Someone sure is gonna be lucky!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2008-07-01 10:13:32

Haha! I agree--PottyforPotter, my parents wouldnt care to see another speck of harry potter anywhere near our house! But I did convince my mom to let me get the deluxe edition of DH. :) And I found a three book collectors set of first edition OoTP from Bloomsbury (they were from a midnight magic party or something because the set came with stickers and bookmarks and do not disturb signs) at a bookstore and I was aloud to get it! YAY! So now (in my parents opinions) we have to many HP books to last a life time. So even if i had the money Momd never say yes! ~Myrtle~

thats really cool.i want them if i had alot of money i would bid high for them.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2008-07-01 10:22:05

"If only I had asked for more money, put on the line for my bet!!! Than a average hp fan could have a better chance on winning the set of books!!!"

Posted by: - Posted on: 2008-07-01 10:36:10

Awww, I have zero money. :( But they look beauuuuutiful. :)

Posted by: - Posted on: 2008-07-01 11:30:22

i wish i was super rich and i could just buy all this signed stuff and everything. i think id prolly not let anyone touch them because theyd be sacred to me :P

Posted by: - Posted on: 2008-07-01 11:30:35

Wow! Those are amazing! Theyre going to go for A LOT!!!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2008-07-01 11:46:03

wow... first edition and signed.....wow...wow...wi sh i could just Accio the whole set...i think theyll fetch more than a million...theyre so beautiful...couldnt they wait for another 100 years till i could save that kind of money??? :)

Posted by: - Posted on: 2008-07-01 12:26:48

maybe i should steal back the money i pay to go to college and use it to buy the books instead signed Harry Potter books > 1 years education at BU if only i could...

Posted by: - Posted on: 2008-07-01 12:45:24

I have the first edition of the books... but theyre not signed... and theyre definatley not the UK version. XD Therefore, I am jealous of whoever gets those marvelous books. :D

Posted by: - Posted on: 2008-07-01 15:08:28

do you reckon the parentals would care if i sold their cars for this set of books?

Posted by: - Posted on: 2008-07-01 15:59:04

You know, a first edition of James Joyces Ulysses or Goethes Faust would be worth so many thousands of dollars, but that price for a book or serie that isnt even a decade old and released in millions of copies, sorry no... its paying a pumped up hype. Its nice to have a copy bought on the first day/night of release and even nicer when you were one of the lucky kids who got a copy on JKRs signing night, but only because one was part of the "event". Those books have emotional value, these ones the auction only investers value. I dont know what motivated this auction at a time publishers are dumping their unsold loads of HP books already at the Ramsh. Last week I purchased a second harcover copy of HBP for just 10 bucks, was welcome because the other copy was worndown and lost the jacket .

Posted by: - Posted on: 2008-07-01 16:17:46

I wish i could get that, but unfortunatly im not extreamly rich. Im drolling just looking at it.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2008-07-01 16:50:23

Its times like this that make me wish I was rich.... I would LOVE to have that set =)

Posted by: - Posted on: 2008-07-01 17:06:47

Just saw this - Potter first editions fetch

Posted by: - Posted on: 2008-07-01 18:17:48

HEY....Does everyone realize that if Harry Potter comes out with the Dark Knight that Gary Oldmen (Sirius Black) is in the Dark Knight, so it is ironic isnt it.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2008-07-01 18:47:57

This is good, but I aready get my books even they are not sign I like them, good luck to whom every end with this set.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2008-07-01 19:54:09

oh darn, my credit cards have a limit or I would be buying those no problem

Posted by: - Posted on: 2008-07-02 00:18:36

Oh man... While most of my HP books are first edition, theyre so completely wrecked from repeated readings that they wouldnt be worth all that much. But they hold way too much emotional value that I would never dream of selling them. I think Id love to have that collection just because they LOOK nice. I mean, my copies are fine to read, but they look like theyve been thrown from the CN tower a few times.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2008-07-02 00:20:23

Everything they have signed or for sale is crazy expensive... no one gets anything good. Tales of Beedle the Bard The Mauraders story Now the first editions of the books. Must be nice to have money. You know theyre just going to go to someplace like Amazon and to someone who would not enjoy or appreciate them like a real fan would. Its a shame really.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2008-07-02 04:18:33

How do i know if mine are first edition. Will it say on the publisher page?

Posted by: - Posted on: 2008-07-02 06:37:55

The only book in the hp series that is in bad shape for me is the third book. The book is now in seven pieces, if you know what I mean!!!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2008-07-05 08:35:18
