That's not really fair. Voldemort is awesome in the books, but the number one MOVIE villain of all time? No way, Darth Vader easily beats Voldemort.

Vader is indeed evil but Voldemort has to take the number one villian spot because Vader only became evil due to specific heart breaking circumstances. He wanted to stop death to help save his mother. Voldemort never cared about anyone and simply wanted to be the most powerful and invincible being alive. forever.

I'm sorry but that just doesn't make sense. Book Voldemort is great but even he would not be number one, and IMO movie Voldemort has been rather a disappointment, never managing to scare me, even though I think Ralph Fiennes is generally a great actor. So yeah Vader should probably get #1 and Voldie would probably be quite far down the list, definitely after such villains as Agent Smith, Gollum, the joker (particularly, it seems, Heath Ledger's version) and probably others.

Don't get me wrong, I love HP, but in a world where The Joker from the first Batman film is not as "evil" as the half-ass villain in a children's film, is a world where something is terribly amiss.

He may not have had that much screen time but he has been the #1 villian in every book and movie. We've seen him kill, torture, mutilate, and torment.....six (almost) movies and counting. In addition, he has been totally devoid of humanity from birth. I don't know how a HP fan could consider anybody else for the title. He is truly the greatest villian of all time...terrible, but great. I can't believe that somebody finally got one of those stupid lists right and HP fans would actually challenge the results!! Voldemort was bad till the end and Darth Vader turned out to have good in him when he talks to Luke in the end. Voldemort is way more evil because until the moment Harry killed him he was just awful. He split himself into seven come on people Voldemort is worse.

I agree with Rabidsphinx, I think most people are thinking of book Voldy when they voted. The movie version just isn't as evil yet. Maybe by movie 7a & b he will be. Hannibal Lecter to me is a much more movie evil charactor so far.

I just visited the AOL website and some of the villains choosen, I agree with. Some of the villains picked I think should have never been picked, but there are two villains that just stood out for me and they are: Agent Smilth 'The Matrix(1999)' played by Hugo Weaving and Hans Gruber 'Die Hard(1988)' played by Alan Rickman!!! NOT ONLY ARE THEY THE BEST VILLAINS AND GREAT TOO AS ACTORS, BUT THEY ARE HOT!!! VERY, VERY, VERY HOT!!!

VampireKisses- I went to that link, and I would have to agree, this is TOTALLY OUTRAGEOUS! How can they decide to leave out2 important characters that play a somewhat major role in "The Deathly Hallows"? I am glad to hear that Voldemort made number one villian, because i love to hate him.
