US Potter audiobook narrator Jim Dale spoke at Portus 2008 this morning, and what a treat it was! After months of anticipation, Dale took the stage and entertained the audience with live readings from a few of the Potter books.
Scenes he read from (with full enthusiasm, singing, and physical acting) included the sorting hat ceremony in Sorcerer's Stone, the trio being with Moaning Myrtle in Chamber of Secrets, and Aunt Marge and Trelawney scenes from Prisoner of Azkaban. He wrapped his readings up with the Mad-Eye Moody/Ferret scene in Goblet of Fire.
The audience was nothing short of enthralled while Dale spoke, acting like students in the Great Hall whenever there was a triumphant moment in the book scenes. In between readings, he talked about what it takes to record these lengthy Potter books and coupled the explanations with funny stories. Check out some pics from the event:

Texas is way popular right now, because of it hp event. When the theme park opens, than everyone will want to live in Orlando, Flordia or near Orlando, Flordia at least!!! It is all about who has more and where the hp event is taking place!!!

I was there! I think hearing Jim Dale read via CD and seeing him live were two completely different experiences. Having this opportunity is probably the next best thing to seeing JKR read! It was captivating and amazing to sit there and see the voices of Ron, Hermione, and Harry appear out of ONE mouth before your very eyes.
It was fun to hear where all the voices came from. He said that Harry is a younger version of himself and that Dobby was taken from this dwarf he met in the elevator. Trelawney (sorry if I misspelled that) was inspired by an actress he worked with on a film, and Hagrid was inspried by an uncle. :-) He said that there are over 200 voices in the book and that it was often hard to keep them all straight. When he forgot a voice, the producer would playback a clip from another track or audiobook to remind him.
Definitely a wonderful experience- and newsworthy in my opinion. There shouldnt be any recordings as they were prohibited.

thequibbler101, I too tried the mugglecast website and besides the eposides not working for me, the website works fine!!! Maybe you should get computer help!!! Also does anyone remember that before the release date for the next mugglecast eposide was this Sunday/today, but now the release for the next eposide is this Tuesday??? Werid or is it just me!!!

Rose37, it says on the main page that it turnes out they dont have the equipment they need to put the episode on the computer. Thats why the day changed. Is it the episode page that doesnt work for you or are those the episodes themselves that cant be downloaded?

Jim Dale has kept me sane for the past five years at my job! Ive listened to Star Wars, Narnia, Eragon and Lord of the Rings and no one compares to Jim! hmmm, maybe its that no one compares to Harry Potter! Hmmm, ok, no one comepares to the both of em lol!
